Submit or not?

What do you all do with something like this?
It sits outside a nature reserve that has a toad migration once a week in March, hence the sculpture.
It also sits in a cell 5 feet away from another wayspot.
Does anyone submit in these circumstances?

Personally, Lightship-only nominations are my lowest priority (unless there's a special circumstance like I think it's a really special POI or a nearby wayspot is likely to be removed in the near future.) If I happen to be close to it and have nominations to burn, I might nominate it. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.
This is the order of priority I apply when deciding what to use my nominations on:
It’s really nice.
its up to you as it will be lightship only at the moment.
if I had a lot of nominations available and a good photo I might submit because you never know.
Thanks.
I couldn't think of any benefits, unless I missed something, whereas I'd be adding something into a queue in an area that already takes 12-18 months for a decision.
What is your concern? The proximity issue or other?
If proximity is your concern, you could either skip it for now or wait until you come to the decision yourself.
I have a Lightship-only trail marker I'm saving "on hold" just in case we have a
bugfeature that breaks rules, again.Proximity and adding into the queue which would not help anyone apart from Lightship.
Thanks though, great idea on the hold which I completely forgot exists :D
Quick note for you @The26thDoctor-PGO - With that photo specifically, I'd say submitter identifiable because of the bike in the background.
Thanks, it's just a pic I took when passing not my submission. I'll move it next time though :D
Yea my primary concern was the bicycle but also permanence of the object. It's difficult to surmise from photo alone if that is intended to stay. Not debating validity or any claims from you, just making sure you know to be able to support permanence.
Yeah I’d submit it.
I’ve got 80 nominations, and someone else might nominate and intentionally misplace it, so I may as well do a better job of it.
It's not going anywhere. It was made for that entrance to the reserve. It's also to heavy to move...
Is the bike actually an issue? Maybe I am biased by my area, but to be honest, calling that generic bike in the background "submitter identifiable" just seems like an excuse to reject a nomination. Where I live, bikes are ubiquitous, and bike rack space can be at a premium in some areas and parks, especially on nice, sunny days, so people chain their bikes to poles and sign posts like the one in the photo. I have submitted supporting photos with bikes in them (not mine) because they are locked there and are just nondescript background items anyway, and I haven't had any problems.
If bikes in the supporting background really are an issue, I'll be more careful with my photos, which is why I ask. But it really seems like grasping at straws.
It could be. If I was local to @The26thDoctor-PGO I would probably know it was their bike.
Then I could vote favourably (or not) on their nomination. It’s like some older nominations where a Resistance player on Ingress would leave a certain Smurf toy in photos as a wink to their locals as “Hey, this is my nomination, give it a good rating”.
@The26thDoctor-PGO
if it’s in a slow turn over area I wouldn’t submit for the reasons you give Why make the queue bigger. As it’s next something anyway explorers will see it.
Wouldn't it be easier just to message you and say I have this for review rather than leave coded items in a pic?
If there was a bike rack or otherwise designated bike station I would wholeheartedly agree. With the current picture I only halfheartedly agree with you.
The bike is at best distracting and shouldn't be there. Is it reason for rejection? Maybe not. But somebody is asking preemptively for guidance and telling them to submit without the bike is good advice.
I don't like to jump on "well I saw it once so everyone is guilty" but placing bicycles, dogs, even children in photos as a way to tag your nomination is not rare but is identifying. A casual car (or in this case bicycle) in the background is usually innocent but can be identifying and even a sign of abuse.
I am not accusing the OP of attempting abuse or being in any way a part of it, but I am suggesting they not submit a photo with the bike in it. Even a simple crop of that image would suffice for a primary photo, and I personally wouldn't think twice about accepting that photo as a supporting image (assuming location is otherwise verifiable).
You could, but sometimes you can’t reach all of your locals in that way.
It’s like when you see initials and such as code names etc.
I was just passing by on my way to work and took a random shot. I haven't even taken a supporting our thought about description etc
Please don't **** me, not today at least :D

Seems like a lot effort and pretty unfulfilling.
I agree. But it’s the way many older Ingress OPR agents used to tip off their faction.
See it a lot less now, but still from time to time.
The whole "you could be signalling to reviewers to accept this" is a little tiring, considering rampant bots, scripts, and "accept/deny everything here/there" have been known to exist since before Wayfarer. But of a reviewer suspects something, it is in their rights to consider and possibly reject.
No good deed goes unpunished. All you did was ask for thoughts 😅
I hope you got answers that help you. Again, I don't doubt you, but I'm also not the one you'll need you convince. Good luck if/when you do submit.
Thank you. I did and more :D
Funny how you can suddenly see something you’ve passed loads of times.
If it’s in my local area I will take a quick pic and then Look into it and go back when weather is better to take a considered photo.
For me, the biggest issue here is proximity to another point of interest, so I personally wouldn't have nominated it. Same reason for a new historical sign I saw today in my area which was basically on top of another existing point of interest; I felt it wasn't worth the effort to go through the nomination for something that is likely not appear in game for Ingress or Pogo. Especially if it just clogs up the review queue even further.
I concur about the bike not being an issue. While it's a minor distraction, I don't feel that it is non-qualifying. A picture of the object with better cropping is ideal, but for the picture in question, it really doesn't detract from the merit of the object itself in any significant way. There is nothing really unique or different about the bike, so appears to be a standard bike.
As for it being submitter identifiable, I think it's a stretch that people are actually going to look at the bike and then would try to figure out who the owner is. It's an assumption to assume the bike owner is the even same person who took the photo.
I would be more concerned from the photo whether or not the object is large enough to be movable.
Thanks.
Good point, I think it's easy as a submitter to assume that reviewers are thinking the same as you. I can see it's heavy enough to not be moved so obviously they will...I might know how great an area is to explore or how relevant something is locally, not specifically this but in general when submitting.
Done and held until Niantic release their Wind In The Willows game...
Thanks for the help!
If only there was a way to make the second wayspot appear…
