All participants will get a newly created Wayfarer Forum Badge on their profile
Is this a badge on the wayfarer forum (similar to the comments or likes thingys), or a wayfarer forum event badge in games (similar to gofest and others)?
If you only give the upgrade to the winners then you are creating an environment conducive to people collaborating to push their question. It's the AMA's with the ridiculous winning questions all over again.
My question was about pools, which wasn't even in the list, so no way is that going to win. I hope enough people submit genuine questions to let y'all know how much confusion there is.
At the moment only the people that visit this forum or read other sites where this event has been announced (by other users) are aware of it, so you're gonna miss a lot of feedback about why Wayfarer is so confusing.
I can’t get it to look like that in iOS without taking multiple screenshots; and I pretty much never review on my computer. But my issues are more with how I’ve got around 260 nominations stuck in voting/queue, roughly half of which are 1-2 years old; and our entire area has been plagued by huge backlogs and bad rejections of commonly accepted nominations that are featured in the guide as acceptable. We’re actually wondering if people who abuse with multiple accounts and bots may be responsible and if they’re using bonus location exchanges meant to help backlogged areas in order to target areas with all their accounts and get as many matches as possible that way by mirroring their main account’s hometown & bonus area. When we posted in one of those exchanges was when our bad rejection problem started. If going through my account can help you catch bad actors like that I’d be happy to have you all go through it and figure out what all the problems are with our area.
What’s the goal of this challenge and the future challenges from Niantic’s perspective?
Are you trying to increase engagement with wayfarer by bringing in new reviewers? If so, why is this forum the only place this has been announced? It seems like there are a lot of other communication channels that could be used to reach out to an audience that is less engaged with Wayfarer than people who would run across this post.
Are you trying to increase engagement with wayfarer by encouraging existing reviewers to review more? If so, why isn’t this announced on the actual wayfarer site and why aren’t there any rewards for reviewing more than 100 nominations?
Are you trying to increase engagement from reviewers who are already heavily engaged with wayfarer? If so, why are the rewards so lackluster?
Are you trying to get clarification from reviewers who are already heavily engaged with wayfarer about the nominations they find most confusing? It seems like the Criteria Clarifications forum would already have this info, but if this is the only goal, then I guess this will be a success?
Overall after reading through this I’m not sure that this is going to get us all what it is that we want, or what Niantic wants. I also think that the bigger problem isn’t that most people are confused, I think it’s that significant sized groups of people are not on the same page. I think everyone here believes that they know and understand the criteria, and for the most part that may be true; but many may not know that they aren’t up to date with new developments, or may have been taught wrong. They think they are up to date, and that they have a correct interpretation; but they do not. This is because if you take any bit of criteria and bring it up in the forums, no matter how basic or universally understood(like pergolas, pavilions, and gazebos or sports fields) and you’re going to have a big pile of conflicting viewpoints. This is because, while I can see that the wayfarer team & Niantic have tried to make the criteria and guide clear, there is still ambiguity and either side of the perspective on any thing has a polar opposite perspective. When these collide they often result in bad rejections and slowdowns of the entire system. I’m not excluding myself from being wrong about things, that’s what humans do best, and everyone’s wrong about something. But outside of more closely moderated forums where what Niantic did not intend is quickly addressed and perhaps a refinement is posted in the guide and shared with all wayfarers, and what Niantic does intend is clearly communicated, encouraged, and possibly posted as a refinement; I’m not sure that it’s possible to improve how the system functions and is used. There would also need to be another overhaul of the guide and criteria where it would need to be simplified even more, while also providing more in depth information for each category of candidate. As awful as this sounds, you’re going to need to run it through a group of 3rd graders until they all understand what’s expected of them and can nearly all operate the system as Niantic intended. That’s probably the only way you can be sure that it has the absolute minimum amount of ambiguity and the maximum amount of clarity possible. I got that approach from an English teacher, and as far as getting and keeping everyone on the same page; it works very well. Making changes like that would also make abuses far more obvious and easy to catch; and potentially far harder to get away with as well as far less worth the effort. Making everything simple and clear makes mistakes less likely, and patterns of behavior more clear and easy to correct. I wouldn’t envy whoever got put in charge of that because it would not be easy, but it would be a situation where you put a lot of work in up front that allows maintenance to be far easier. Anyhow, that’s what I see.
@NianticTintino could the challenges also have an alternating reward of upgrades or extra appeals; maybe some of both? All I know is with the amount of pergolas, pavilions, and sports fields(among other things) that we’ve been getting rejected out here it would be nice to get more. Since we’ve got another bad rejection wave occurring I think a lot of folks would go for that.
I actually ran into a review that I would have submitted to this, not because I am confused by it but because I think it needs clarifying. It was a memorial bench on a walking trail. But since the contest is not designed to take location into account, I don't think submitting it would have helped. Without seeing satellite view and the lack of other POI around this walking trail, I think it is too easy for people to go "Memorial Bench = Reject".
The reality is that we are submitting a screenshot, so I might just make my screenshot show all the information and hopefully the WF team would see WHY I want clarification on this. Since I have not used the form yet, is there any place for me to explain what I find confusing about the submission or do I only get to categorize it?

Or even photo reviews at that with the same scenarios.
For the reward:
New Wayfarer Forum Badge

It’s just for the forum. You won’t see anything added to your game profiles
Useless
lol i misread this originally:

I think what I'm hearing is that we need another contest to understand the confusion about this challenge? Working on it!
@NianticTintino
This attempt will be helpful to Wayfinder.
But on the other hand, I am also concerned about abuse by some abusive Wyafinder Group in this attempt.
You and the Wayfarer team will need to be aware of their malicious intent.
At one time, there was an attempt by some Wayfinders to get a word that they were wayspot approved by Danbocat on Twitter, not on this forum.
I hope the team is sensitive to such malice and responds accordingly.
I'm just hopeful we will get some actual clarification and not just the same things we've been told over and over again.
Do you still need a pool screenshot?
Nope took a couple hundred but got it! Thank you though.
These are easy, just use Ingress dynamic links to report them as invalid.
@NianticTintino
Do you really want every wayfarer to take part in this challenge?
If that's true, Why isn't there a banner at the top of the page in https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/ ?

I'm not sure I've even seen anyone post about it on The Silph Road. I know that isn't down to Niantic but there's normally a post there.
And it's still a third party announced it to the wider playerbase, not Niantic themshelves. Even Niantic didn't announce this challenge on Twitter.
They're really busy with Pokemon World Championship that they also forgot to announce level 37 Trainers will be able to contribute into Wayfarer.
I messaged someone I know who is doing some reviewing at the moment and they were unaware.
It's a shame. I think the idea for the challenge is great but the implementation, reward system and announcing of it were not well handled.
Add to that the stupid 360° bug that makes reviewing annoying for me :(

Yeah, it should have been a message in both games when the challenge started. I am not seeing any my agreements going up faster like the last one.
Submitted mine on the form. I assume I’ll review enough before it closes off.
Set your Zoom level to 50% on Safari and rotate your phone. That’ll capture it all

This seems "standard Niantic".

Yes. The last question is;
which people have used to add in any additional information.
I'm wondering if we will get the number of participants for this challenge.
It would be interesting to get some statistics from it.
Not gonna lie @NianticTintino but I would much rather have yall finally bring in the Edit Waypoint Contributions page.
