UK & US Foursquare Import?

Some Wayfarers are reporting that Wayspots are showing up (only in Pokémon GO so far) without images and for parks/basketball court areas.
We have seen this happen in the past when Niantic did a Foursquare import to add to other countries but this seems very specific.
Perhaps for NBA All-World? Have you seen any?
Not my screenshots but as an example.

Germany and Australia have reported the same.
I saw a couple of these stops at a local park here in Australia today and was wondering what they were.
One happened to be the same point of interest that I added a while ago, will be interesting to see how they handle duplicates.
I’ll have a wander around this afternoon…. I have got some basketball hoops in the system 🤔
In Poland also
Poland also. New POI's at K-12 area... 🤣
@NianticTintino any light you can shed? Did we beat you to an update post about this?
I have this in queue that will not show in Go as it's cell is already occupied. I'll put it in hold :D
Haven't seen one here in my area (Germany)
Asking around and this came up
Which is located at a court that was removed 6 years ago.
No problem though. No doubt Niantic will enlist us to clean up their *#/* because they couldn't be arsed doing it correctly to begin with
I see your title and raise you this one that appeared in London.
Some absolutely cracking titles Niantic, 5*, well done.
I wonder if that’s a dupe of this.
No idea what that is meant to be as no photo.
:D
Same thing in Finland.
As most public sports fields in here are already wayspots, the ones now automatically imported
from Foursquareseem to be school sports fields that shouldn't be eligible as wayspots due to being at the school grounds. Now reporting and getting rid of these is left for us users...Just found out that Foursquare is not to blame here. All these courts seem to be imported from Courts of the World:
https://www.courtsoftheworld.com/map/
Thank you.
I have two in queue that appear on there that I may as well withdraw.
This may be problematic @NianticGiffard @NianticTintino
If it’s off that map then most of our local ones are already in. I am trying to get someone to check a school a few miles away 🙄
That lines up. My local ones aren’t in but the city over has one with a name that’s wrong and it’s gone in as that.
This and the previous school I posted are both located in empty cells. I'm not sure if they have appeared though.
Might be the source, yes. Checked two imports in germany and they are at the same location and have the same title as on this website
Most definitely, I think. It matches the On The Side Of The Road court I posted.
no nearby basket courts for me so cant check.
we do have only 1 on that map, but the cell is already occupied.
there isnt a single other basketball court nearby on the map for 35km. There are indeed basketball courts here, but noone cared to enter them into that database.
basicly Niantic got this information maybe for a few bucks, and it isnt worth tuppence outside cities.
Alors, this may be different in the US.
Yes, I have! Was going to start a thread about it wondering if it was related to the NBA game. The ones I have seen were just "X Park" (not "basketball court"), which makes sense for a website just about basketball courts but not for Lightship. And the pins were right in the middle of the basketball court. Awkwardly, I saw these on the duplicate list for nominations of the same basketball courts, but since the import was just "Green Park" and not "Green Park Basketball Court," I didn't consider them duplicates. Plus, the nomination was way better than the import, just by virtue of the fact that it had an adequate photo and accurate title. If I were in that area, I would go to the park after the basketball court nominations got inevitably accepted and report the imported POI as a duplicate - the location is a duplicate of the accepted nom and the name is a duplicate of the existing anchor POI for the park.
I'm astounded that Niantic found the need to do this import, especially in the US and UK. Most basketball courts are already wayspots, and newer ones are nominated regularly. Those that aren't wayspots are typical schools, like others mentioned. Maybe the older ones aren't tagged as basketball court, but come on, just use natural language processing. And they could've even had a Wayfarer challenge for basketball courts instead of having these trash imports.
Looking at the courts of the world website and the lighship database, at least here locally it seems they do have a secondary filter to leave out the ones on school grounds. There is not many listed on that site here but any that were on school grounds did not import.
That is the next challenge. Fix all the mistakes we made for an upgrade and a badge.
If that's based on the map then there's nothing new within my area, I guess. Can't say for country wide, since most courts are already become the Wayspots...
I hope you're wrong but you're probably right 😂
