I gave it a shot - in the hopes that Niantic is actually planning to improve their criteria documentation.
Why didn't Niantic just look in the Criteria Clarifications subgroup in their own community - here? Because it's overwhelming. So, make a contest that's underwhelming. Then they have a much smaller pool to choose from.
Will Niantic actually clarify what they do/don't want in their database? In clear words that mean something? Time will tell. Based on their past ten years, no. But maybe, just maybe, they're looking forward... ?
To be truthful, I do not care about the rewards at all. A single upgrade is close to meaningless, but the opportunity to share information that might result in criteria clarifications is significant.
I really hope that Niantic takes our offerings and uses them to provide guidance that improves submissions and informs future reviews of currently confusing topics.
Thank you to all who participated in our new challenge and those that shared their feedback. We are happy to announce that we have had over 1000 participants. You still have a little but of time left before we close the submission form and start working away at posting the challenge responses this Friday, September 2, 2022.
Again, thank you to all who participated and we are excited to announce our next Wayfarer Challenge soon.
I just submitted a bunch of nominations things that I really think need clarifying - at the risk of starting the usual arguments they were things like waypoints under complete tree cover in the middle of a huge wood, multiple identical images of yet another identical trail marker when there are the same things already al ovver the place etc. Things I want a "final decision" on from Niantic.
A thousand seems kinda low, especially considering that many players have multiple accounts [REDACTED](ever going to do anything on that?). Did you advertise it outside of the forums?
I was thinking the same. It's a pity the numbers are so low on what must be a playerbase of 70 million. So more like 25 million if we remove multiple accounts :D
Obviously Niantic must know that this particular issue happens, more so in one game than the other main one, so seems weird to block it out but approve the rest, which could also be seen as knocking Niantic a bit?
They should have put in some blockers or not opened the floodgates fully when they onboarded the animal-esque tamers game players to Wayfarer for sure. It’s too little, too late now.
A plea before you announce the results: If you want to prevent the upcoming uproar about unfairness, grant the upgrade prize to everyone that completed 100 reviews, no matter which category they selected.
At a time. If there wanted examples of confusing nominations, I'm pretty sure most regular reviewers have more than "one" thing that is problematic. It will be interesting to see how they analyse the data, and how many came through as "other". (Yes, it was a poorly designed form).
Really slowly…and in the right order. Keen to see if we should be rejecting or accepting certain things, as that could change the outcome of some things I have In Voting.
They gave themselves approximately 1 day to read through 1000 submissions, discuss the "top three," and formulate the responses? Doesn't seem realistic, especially if they want to distribute rewards around the same time that they post the responses.
Also, Monday is a holiday in the US, so I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see it until the middle of next week or later.

I tried to find a happy medium.
Trail markers? :D
That would be an unhappy medium lol
Are trail markers something that are problematic 🤪

Lets see if there is any feedback.
(But actually, yes it is over, just waiting on results)
You were expected to submit one confusing nomination.
Hopefully the results and clarification don't add even more to the confusion....

Seems not.

My post got [REDACTED]. I don’t see what was wrong with saying “in the monster catching game”?

I think it's almost impossible to deal with now in the creature hatching amusement trade.

@The26thDoctor-PGO on the other hand I am getting a large supply of popcorn in so I can watch the clarity unravel.😂😂😂
I'll set aside a few weekends for the inevitable trail and bike clarifications.

This is your chance to prevent many angry posts.
Angry posts? The Niantic community? Nah.

1 submission per person & must be another Explorers contribution, not your own

19.5 hours left for Niantic to meet their deadline. After that, September 2nd is over worldwide.

I don’t expect answers just what the top 3 were and give them a chance to load up on coffee
Should I do a Deliveroo order to the office?
More importantly ... how are you getting your images through so quickly.
You know. Post image on @PkmnTrainerJ-ING account, switch to @NianticOtoStar account and approve.
(Just a joke, I’m not Niantic staff)
