So I have a question that just occurred to me: if I find a group of three other people who care about Wayfarer and don't mind hanging around with me for a day and that won't make me cranky (I've been mentally doing Venn diagrams all day, still looking for the right subset), and we do a photography day with four final decent pictures - could each person post one photo on Twitter, as long as the four pictures were different and from different members of the group? I have four great spots in mind for the concept, but am not sure if the rules allow each person to submit separately.
One entry per person per challenge part. This means that although there are several categories per part of the challenge, you’ll only be able to submit 1 entry per challenge part. You will however be able to enter all 3 parts of the challenge. As an example, you may submit 1 screenshot for Part 1, 1 screenshot for Part 2, and one photo for Part 3. You cannot enter more than 1 screenshot/photo per part.
having each person in a group of 4 enter a photo in part 3 would be four entries per person in part 3, not 1.
I didn’t ask about people submitting multiple times for this part because I assumed Niantic would catch the same people showing up multiple times, but I suppose with sufficient costume changes they might miss what you’ve done, increasing your chances of winning.
I may also be placing too much faith in their ability to catch duplicate entries in this part independent of any costume changes.
Yeah, but it's not clear whether the "entry" is the Twitter submission of the photo - at least to me, and in the spirit of the rules that I'm trying to better delineate. In my scenario, I'd submit just one photo on Twitter. What if one of my teammates submitted a different photo in which the same people appear? What if that person submitted another photo with a different group of teammates, but my group's photo won? Would I be disqualified because they duplicated efforts? Please note that I'm trying to abide by the rules, not work around them - and I just want a better definition of what makes an official entry.
It isn't necessarily limited to places near your hometown. It can also be places where you visit a lot and have gotten to know some landmarks in. I have done that with a few places I submitted.
Anyways, submitted my photo and looking forward to seeing more entries!
I hear that. But that is very dependent on people's lives. I only submit through GO (not an Ingress player). We got WF in Nov 2019. I immediately started adding POI that would improve where I play. Just a few months later, the world went into lockdown. In the 3 years since getting access to WF, I've honestly only traveled to 2 places. One is a relative's house which I also don't want to doxx. The other was Seattle for GO Fest. Seattle is very well covered by an active WF community so I felt no need to waste any of my nominations there.
I also happen to be in an area with a ridiculous backlog. I have 124 submissions stuck either in voting or in queue. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOUR. With that many still in process in my own play area, it just doesn't make a lot of sense for me to spend time nominating in other areas (even though sometimes I want to just for the satisfaction of getting a result).
I find it boosts my enthusiasm doing submissions in a fast area - a quick hit of satisfaction. Then I can return to the submitting of one’s that will take over 810 days to resolve 🙄
How will you give people who win their rewards? Most will not want to dox themselves on social media this way and so will not use a twitter that can be tied to their personal accounts.
Hi there, for more on this, check out the Reward Distribution section of the announcement:
Reward Distribution:
Rewards will be distributed after the winners have been announced. We will reach out to the winners on Twitter to collect distribution information. For the Group Photo challenge, the winning group submitter will be contacted to provide the information of all group members. The number of members present in the photo will need to match the number of Wayfarer eligible condenames given.
as mentioned by @ApexShadowLugia-PGO, we'll reach out on Twitter, then they will give us the information needed for their accounts 😊
@NianticTintino In part 1 - Nomination challenge accepted, I didn't understand this part: "go to your Contributions tab, and find the nomination you're most excited about submitting". Does it mean you need to submit a submission or does it mean "nomination accepted"?
Perhaps Niantic could come up with a badge for players that increases in level depending how long your submission has been waiting for a full review, a but like a revers "Guardian" badge. It could be called "Patience" or "Meditation" or something similar - wait over 365 days to get Onyx / Platinum. Of course, this could lead to the unitended effect of having players seek out the worst regains for a wait and increasing the backlog in those areas purely to gettheir badge..............
Actually, there should be continental winners in this challenge. As you say, the challenge is dominated by the Asian area, how should a European from the country or not have a chance when you consider how much cultural property exists as a wayspot.
I don't use Twitter or much other social media but I haven't seen the challenge posted on any other external sites or even heard any Go players mention it.
So in gearing up and planning for the second contest phase, I've got more questions. To maximize my chances, I'd like to submit from Pikmin Bloom (relatively small player base, with fewer active Wayfarers because no Wayfarer access from the app) but am confused about what photo is required. My favorite visited Wayspot is an hour distant, and I'd hate to get there and find it's a large mushroom so my pic would look like this....
@NianticTintino can you clarify what an eligible Pikmin Bloom photo would look like if a mushroom is in place? How will those photos be judged fairly if the primary photo is so obscured?
I was joking but I just checked and there is only another brazillian and I think she saw it because I posted about the challenge a couple days ago in the main group.
@NianticTintino I'm not very saavy when it comes to photos and Twitter. I'm an old lady after all. I can't figure out how to take the picture or how to send it to Twitter.
Reply to the challenge tweet with your screenshot and #WayfarerChallengePart1 and either #Exploration, #Exercise or #Social depending on which relates to your entry.

Love to see you trying to reach a new audience. Tried scrolling through some responses and discovered I hate scrolling. Would rather be reviewing =)

You can probably dm them on Twitter and tell them your Ingress or Pokemon Go e-mail/username in private.

I think it means an accepted nomination, which is in Pokemon Go and/or Ingress. So one with a green Accepted tag.
Concept is OK, but there are too few prizes and they aren't significant enough. Especially since they really don't cost Niantic anything.
Another challenge I'm going to skip.

How will you know its me If my twitter account has a different name?
If you win, they will contact you in a dm and ask for your ingame name so they can distribute the rewards
@sogNinjaman-ING like that idea……
its a lot like why I collect Zero in pogo 😂
I can't seem to get the picture on my iPhone, even when reducing the font. Any tips?
Will you do a debriefing for all the winning wayspots? Perhaps some gems could be found and promoted.
@NianticTintino I think you have to promote this challenge more. So far the 1st challenge is dominated by accepted nominations from Japan...
However many nominations posted there are quite outstanding. Sugoi!

I like this idea, I think I would win by default. xD

Take a screenshot of the submission you want as your entry. Make sure the Title, pic and description are visible
Reply to the challenge tweet with your screenshot and #WayfarerChallengePart1 and either #Exploration, #Exercise or #Social depending on which relates to your entry.
Oh I thought it had to have the supplemental info also
I don't think so.
Then you’ll want to take a screenshot of it showing the Title, Main Photo, and Description.
Anyway someone has counted total of submission in Twitter, so have fun with the number. (Credit to @kawin240-ING if I'm not mistaken)
And this one is for fun only:
A clueless person was mistakenly using the #WayfarerChallengePart1 tag 🤣
