Niantic hits rock bottom
first my nomination is stuck for +2 years due to a (partly) broken system, then Niantic itself decides that the only info board with the townplan of my 750people big city is not accepted and moreover no reason is mentioned in the mail nor in Wayfarer. Yes it were good pictures of the board self and the footpath in front of it, yes the pin was correct, yes the description was ok (it is a townmap). And then they wonder why people quit.
Oh yes as a small town I can only nominate a total of 24 poi, so every poi counts for the community. If I re-enter it, because of the system I again have to wait +2 years, and upgrades do not work for BS reasons. I know it is BS because every appeal gets voted correct. The whole system is really depressing and they just ignore the problems... I hope you people have more succes with the system!

I'm actually surprised a small town nomination doesn't go faster. And why only 24 nominations?
Can you post a pic of your rejected nomination?
Use the paper clip icon to upload the file rather than the image itself or it goes through moderation and there is a wait time.
small towns still can be in an S2-Cell that itself is crammed up until the brim with wayspots.
Think of a Square, where the small town isn in the lower left corner, and a BIG city is covering the upper corners.
The S2-Cell itself is full, says Niantics System. So the reviewers wont get much to review from that cell.
@GokuAragorn-PGO If Niantic decided to reject it and you claim that every appeal gets voted on correctly then why not appeal it?
(Also, one possibly-incorrect rejection is nowhere near rock bottom for Niantic. I've easily seen dozens of worse decisions.)
@Hosette-ING Thank you for the response but you are missing the point of my message. I can appeal and it is not the one thing for the rock Bottom but the cummulation of the bad systeem, bad descissions, not listening to what reviewers say and suggest and so on. It is not for me alone, the systeem needs to change so everyone can benefit.
@GokuAragorn-PGO Is your expectation that the system will get it right 100% of the time? If so, I'd suggest you recalibrate that. Reviewers (both internal and player) are human beings, and our meatbrains make plenty of errors. Also remember that there is a lot of nuance and judgement in the criteria, and there is not always One Right Answer for every submission. Ah, the Content Guidelines say it better than I could.
Reviewing Wayspot nominations involves your good judgement. There is no single set of rules or person who can tell a community in black and white what places are important where others are not. That's why there will always be some 'grey area' in our collective goal to map the most interesting local places. What really influences reviews is how content is presented to convince reviewers that a nomination supports Niantic's mission and follows the rules around abuse, accuracy, and intent.
Do you really think "they wonder why people quit"? Perhaps they do, but I haven't seen any evidence that Niantic cares if reviewers stop reviewing, nominators stop nominating, or gamers stop gaming. Logically, they're all part of Niantic's bottom line, so they should care. But I don't see bewilderment or care when people quit... no reaching out, coaxing, rewarding, improving, etc.
Examples.
It's almost as if they just care about the POI DB that they got for free off the hard work of all Wayfinders, that will be sold for millions down the road 🤣
Lets put it that way: Our community should be able to take care of itself without any involvement from Niantic.
Basicly, thats what we do since a while.
Please post the submission so we can take a look and see if there isn't some other underlying issue with the submission. It shouldn't have been stuck for 2 years (Happened to me for a stop that did eventually go through, a year after I moved away from the area and 2 years after I submitted).
@Ribky-PGO thank you for the response but it has nothing to do with the submissions - it is the system that is broken like rodensteiner-ING explained. That is what my message is all about, I want them to rewrite the system so it works for everybody - alot of people share the same problem.
