Postboxes: UK (ER) Queen Elizabeth II

Good afternoon,
With the unfortunate passing of Queen Elizabeth and King Charles III acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022 what is the stance on ER II post boxes?
I'm thinking more about the wall boxes and Pillar boxes that have been in situ some considerable time, but I guess the discussion can extend to all types.
Are these eligible with a fairly decent description?
Regards,

Nope, still mass produced and uninteresting.
I agree with @Belahzur-ING and think this was discussed already.
also been debated on Reddit.
Just no. There are 70,000 of them, very generic, mass produced.
Some people have tried the memorial stance, she will have actual memorials and dedications. These are mass produced objects of street furniture that have her logo on.
Other types of postboxes are considered acceptable, by some, on the grounds of their age (historical significance) and sacristy. The second most common type is George V, which has about 15,000 and even they were controversial for historical significance/ mass production.
TL;DR No - unless a very significant example, i.e. painted gold for an Olympic medal or a Ludlow.
ineligible, same as any post or mail box. only postal facilities can be eligible.
Nothing has changed regarding ER II postboxes. If you ask this question in around 70 years, then maybe things will be different. Not now though.
I don’t think even then unless a vast amount of them have gone.
I don't have any bad wish against the new king, but I think that in a few years it will be a much better topic for exploration trying to find the postboxes about King Charles III than all the thousands about ER II.
And after a little while all those snail mail postboxes will be gone like phone booths.
Oh I agree with you. I was just using that as a time frame because it was 70 years since we last had a different monarch. At any rate, by that point I doubt the Lightship database will still exist, and a lot of us probably won't be about then either.
To the mods, can this discussion be pinned please? So that no more people will ask the same thing over and over.
Only worth pinning once we have an answer. Pinging @NianticGiffard
Only one that might be accepted is the very last one that was installed during her life time, but you woukd need proof that it was. And before you ask, king charles will be a similar cade, none accepted except the first one installed (possibly in all 4 countries) but again will need proof of some kind
... or just put an end to the postbox nonsense and reject all eras except very specific individual cases like the Olympic type.
Yeah that always felt unfair to me since only the UK has this. Every other country has boring boxes. Where I live I don't even remember seeing them in large scale since I was a kid. I don't think we have one in our neighborhood.
I think the criteria has shifted enough for them to not really be eligible, if they ever were. It would take a while to shift out of the UK's acceptable 'meta' though.
Sorry we only argue about postboxes at weekends ….. ( in joke)
Every country has something that they have lots of, that other countries don’t, it’s just the way things go.
No need to alter anything
let’s find something else to argue over.
I thought postboxes discussion was the second Tuesday of the month?
Has the schedule been updated?
Yes, the updated schedule is in the post.
Ooh, did you put a Transformers stamp on it?
I did, posted it from the EIIR pokerst0p someone added.
