Yeah as soon as I posted this in a few groups and servers people have started submitting their entries now, e.g. Poland will be on that map too now. Will update it after the submission deadline!
@The26thDoctor-PGO no worries, it is rising again now, it is roughly over 160 entries that have the correct hashtag #wayfarerchallenge part1 . There were entries which didn't have the correct hashtags, I didn't count them in
I submitted my Twitter screenshot from the US, but it was an Iceland Wayspot I'd nominated on a visit there - so that means I'm winning for Iceland! 🇮🇸
@The26thDoctor-PGO GO might be big there but how many (non bots) wayfarer people are there? Niantics methods of reaching people for their stuff is always a bit lacking to say it politely, but I also think there aren't that many people that want to engage the wayfarer community, they just want to play their games. I heard often from people, which is raising the question if it was a good idea in the first place, "I would participate but I don't have Twitter", or "I would participate but I only nominated local only and don't want that people can see where I usually live". The latter might still work in the anonymity of a big city but try that in a smaller place, good luck.
And for choosing to just do it on Twitter, it should have been multi-platform so everyone is able to enter, in some countries e.g. Facebook is the platform to be, in others Twitter, in a 3rd one Instagram, and so on. Another thing I heard quite often when talking about the challenge: "what is wayfarer? Never heard of that"
I agree although if I look at my local groups of maybe 800 people combined in total there are easily 11 people who submit nominations. Admittedly only a couple of those are hardcore Wayfarers but the challenge has failed I think to engage any of them and definitely hasn't encouraged non Wayfarer users.
I've mentioned the challenge to a few people I know who use Wayfarer and they're not too interested in it. It might've helped a bit if the challenge was visible on the Wayfarer site itself when you log in (kinda like the box that pops up when you earn an upgrade, but instead of that message, it's about the challenge).
Honestly, Niantic wants to make it big! WHY ?, will Challenges not show up as an ingame feed, like new events or Community Days ? Why not promote within your own games ? That's how you get the most players. There are many who don't have Twitter, Insta or Facebook. If so, then there where everyone can be found.
It looks like twitter isn’t interested in letting me twit - my part 1 entry no longer shows up in the replies. I hadn’t originally planned on participating, so I guess I’m not really out anything, but I guess I’ll be forced to pass on the submission I was considering for part 2 now.
What a poor effort. What exactly was the reasoning behind having this challenge? It doesn't clarify any criteria, it hasn't encouraged new or existing Wayfarer users to join in.
So despite the ban in the forums, it seems that XeZar is still involved in Wayfarer. That shows again that Niantic doesn't really do anything against abusers.
When the Wayfarer Team was asked for feedback, poeple responded with several thing such as more challenges and more social stuff. This is the result. Remember that the Wayfarer Team sin't as big and has a plethora of things to do so anything they do will be more than the usual Niantic weirdness. Even with a small team, they could do a few things a lot better though
Now that you mention it, doesn't the challenge just to 'highlight amazing accepted Wayspots'? Oh right, we have Featured Wayspots that does absolutely nothing...
Anyway I found this challenge interesting that I have to see accepted Wayspots from the people all around the world.., or so my opinion.
well, it would have certainly helped to advertise the event on the wayfarer starting page wirth a small banner like they used to have for the review challenges in the past...
not everyone follows (actively) on twitter or even knows that there is an account
even less follow the forums
The Wayfarer Team has to advertise it in the actual wayfarer to draw in existing users, and if they want to draw in more new wayfinders, they'd need InGame advertisements and some tie in, in form of prizes somewhat related to the games, easiest would be medals. people love medals.
the standout figure for me is 9 from Panama approx 3.5% of the total and more than on large population countries. Maybe it says more about the use of Twitter 🤔
I guess the challenges problems did hinder it a bit, it relied a lot on community efforts to spread the word around and get people to participate. I heard from Japanese Wayfarers that if fellow people wouldn't have translated and promoted the challenge, they wouldn't have participated. I also encouraged a few people but I don't really have a network ti get more people throughout Europe going yet it seems. Maybe the UK didn't have someone actively trying to draw people in since Niantic didn't really do it themselves
Generally speaking, these "challenges" haven't been well received among the UK TG group, hardly any chat about it, people just aren't interested overall.
From myself, this challenge seems more like a Twitter challenge with a little bit of Wayfarer mixed in, rather than a Wayfarer challenge with Twitter mixed in, there is a huge difference between the two.

Oh hey it me!
Yeah as soon as I posted this in a few groups and servers people have started submitting their entries now, e.g. Poland will be on that map too now. Will update it after the submission deadline!
Do you know the total amount of entries?
Ignore, idiot reading skills here :)

Same @Shilfiell-ING , I have family ties there but I'm not from Croatia, still submitted something from there!
I've also heard that other people also submitted their vacation or 2nd home nominations!
Thanks, It's a wee bit sad to be frank. 11 people in the UK are taking part in the challenge.
1 person from Spain where Go is pretty big :/

Wow that's a HUGE mushroom! In that case, slide up on the name of the Wayspot so that it shows the image under the name. Added some samples below:
Would a photo from a postcard be allowed as well? (i guess this applies to Pikmin and PoGo)

6 years for this to happen in Go and they still get it wrong sometimes.

Is part one closed now?
Maybe you can enter part 4?
#HowDidThisCoalGetAccepted
#WayfererWTF
#Ummmmm
I'm sure it will be the busiest part of the challenge.
@NvlblNm-PGO It still shows up for me. Some stuff can is not always displayed for you on twitter
Final Version of the Challenge Part 1 Map, enjoy: https://twitter.com/kawin240/status/1574007946417143812

It's definitely not aimed at the team :)
0.0003% of the Go playerbase took part.

That is fun, the implementation and communication of the challenge is the baffling bit.
Oh, I messed the it up to make the tweet embedded, here is the map itself again
the standout figure for me is 9 from Panama approx 3.5% of the total and more than on large population countries. Maybe it says more about the use of Twitter 🤔
How many in UK? I know of at least 2, as me and my gf submitted one each
Never mind, just saw it lol, bit surprised uk was only 12
