More high-quality scans needed for VPS

Regarding scanning, you can now see how many “approved”/“good” scans have been done on a Wayspot in the Wayfarer app.
It shows the times of day when scans are done, and confirms Niantic ideally need 25+ “good” scans to activate VPS. 10+ will do for “experimental” VPS.
What VPS will do for the current games, we don’t yet know.
Also, if these have had to be manually approved, please feel pity for someone having to reject all the foot and path scans.

Sort of linked in as it’s all scanning Wayspots and in the Wayfarer app too.

That's interesting. I submitted like 50 scans of the actual object in front of my house, but I can't see it on the VPS map yet. I guess Niantic is rolling out VPS activated Wayspots around big cities first, because all existing ones in Germany are clustered in/near big cities. Hopefully this app comes to Android soon. Curious to see what is possible with this technology

My next trip. Cannot wait...
😂
Hey, at least they're pretty much the perfect size and shape to scan haha
Building an agile, fluidmetaverse that integrates physical and virtual systems seamlessly as you explore the elevated realism while harnessing a deeper relationship to janky, old postboxes globally*
*Janky, old postboxes are exclusively limited to the UK.
Again the same convoluted text style from Niantic, full of buzzwords and hard to grasp.
Now if we can just get the app out of TestFlight and into a wider beta, the rest of us could join in the fun!
Is there actually a market for this?
I just see bubbles bursting
Have you ever used any game, app, marketing tool where VR, AR eyc didn't feel clunky and removed you from the experience rather than feeling 'seamlessly integrated'?
Me either :D
Potentially a huge market covering various walks of life though from teaching, to science, to games, apps etc?
Museums, art galleries, historic tours?
It's those "one sided" Waypoints that get me - how are we supposed to "move around the Waypoint" if it's a mural on a wall?
I’m interested in how these ideas can be used in education especially for those with a range of different disabilities.
I visited here last year
It would work somewhere like this pretty well, that's just one application on a very simple level of course. I'm sure there's thousands of ways it could be used if, a big if, it becomes commonplace.
that is 100% to the fact that there are only companys like Niantic that outsource everything that is app-based and have noone that is able to script a game. I dont need an AR Company that has a database, but is not able to make a game.
@The26thDoctor-PGO i’m very familiar with New Lanark and the Clyde, it’s a great place and this would work well.
Interesting stuff - thanks for sharing!
Examples that use Lightship VPS (scans stitched together)...
Developed with "partners" https://lightship.dev/partners/?hl=en
The Cannes Lions Festival had these apps to explore Lightship https://nianticlabs.com/blog/niantic-canneslions-2022/?hl=en
Tell me when they get around to realising how great a Lego game would be where you can connect, build , create anything you like :D
Are you taking the ****, Niantic?
Now I want to play this SOOOOO bad.... Ducks! Bowlers! Post Boxes! What more could I ask from a game???
Unfortunately, my mother's in the UK right now but when I asked her to look out for Post Boxes with the Victoria cipher she told me to stop sending her on dumb game-related quests. 🤣
i needed a good laugh😂😂
i really must visit London - if only the trains weren’t so rubbish at moment.
Better start scanning postboxes in Manchester 🤪
Cutting edge Metaverse stuff...
All that and only one purple hat shiny?
Though on a serious note, the “anchor” for the VPS of the duck launcher seemed a little off when viewed from the side. I wonder if that’s had the 10 scans to get it to “experimental” or that’s the 25+ good scans?
When I get the Wayfarer app I'll tell you.
