Most Japanese players also either largely ignore this challenge or are completely unaware of it.
In fact, I am so busy at the moment that I hardly even checked this forum, and I did not even know when the challenge started or when the deadline was.
I didn't even have time to listen to it when I was in the middle of my 13th straight workday.
Well, a Pokémon GO trainer who misinterpreted the original text and arbitrarily dropped an expanded interpretation of the challenge tweeted an incendiary tweet targeting players including me, and I happened to see it when I was in the middle of my 13th straight workday and learned about the deadline, so I posted a wayspot approved in 2015 that made me think about peace.
I'll post again this time when I have more time on the weekend and feel up to it.
My favorite portal is the one where the event that successfully put Niantic's balloon ship on the upswing along with a surge in Ingress players in Japan in 2014 occurred.
Well, I am wondering if you can understand why this WAYSPOT, since most of the current Niantic staff are staff who joined Niantic after the company had expanded considerably. (I think there are about 10 people left now).
@NianticTintino will you do a debriefing for this challenge? I saw lots of gems that are worth to spread in the community, not only the winning wayspot can be mentioned, but also some honourable mentions is good to see. Just a small suggestion.
I’ve participated the 2nd part already by Twitter. But I don’t know the results yet, so could someone can tell me when I can get the medal in Pokémon GO? Thank you!
I don't think there is a medal as a reward. There was a badge reward for the previous challenge but it only applies to your Wayfarer profile.
If you win you will get
Rewards:
1st Place Winners - 1 Upgrade + 1 Appeals Fast Track
2nd Place Winners - 1 Appeals Fast Track
3rd Place Winners - 1 Upgrade
I believe the fast track appeal is being done internally and not by a minimum wage company that they normally farm appeals out to so you have a probably 50% chance of your fast track appeal being reviewed correctly.
I didn't get to submit for the second challenge. I was planning on getting a screenshot of the Wayspot I wanted to submit for it yesterday but just never got around to it as I've been feeling a bit rough after my booster jab. Never mind though.
Definite skip for the third challenge. I don't have any local groups to join and even if I do, I'd risked myself to be doxxed again on the internet. (Please search into one of my threads for the reference)
I don't want to put my face on the internet space in a way that ties information together.
I also believe that standards, etc., may be discussed in an open community (e.g., this forum), but that individuals should be kept confidential in order to maintain the fairness of the review, for example, by telling each other about individual wayspot candidates.
Therefore, I am doing what Niantic says here, but I will not reply to this challenge.
I guess Niantic thinks Twitter will drum up business, but who are they trying to attract? Are all these Tweets to impress developers who might code with Lightship (AKA customers)? Are they trying to recruit gamers to nominate, review, and scan more (AKA volunteers)? Maybe they're trying to convinve the customers that the volunteers are happy (so will continue volunteering)?
If they're trying to recruit Explorers/Wayfarers - they already have the email for every single person who could possibly contribute. And they already have a way to talk to current Contributors, perhaps to ask: what would get someone to start, or come back after leaving a year+ ago, or contribute more than they already are? I doubt any of us would have answered: Twitter.
However, the same contests, carried out on this community, would have been interesting to us, and inspired us.
If this was an attempt to impress developers, attract attention or just whatever they thought they would get with this challenge should be taken as an absolute embarrasment.
A worldwide challenge with 2 groups participating and one dog. Come on!!!
Niantic doesn't care about the players and so the community doesn't care about Niantic.
"We will give you an upgrade and one fast track appeal (because we know that we failed totally handling the appeals), but as they are very expensive we can't give one to everyone participating in this huge exciting opportunity to dox yourselfs"
I intend to participate in Part Three, as I have for the two previous rounds. I'm accustomed to using Twitter to post our Ingress First Saturday collages, so that's not even an issue for me. The main problem is getting time to gather people together for a photo, what with work and school schedules in full swing. With the days growing shorter, there's no time after work to set up and get it done.
Woo boy. Hold on to your butts! The most notorious cheaters/colluders in WF participated in Part 3 and made fun of their cheater/colluder status. They are literally shoving in Niantic's face and Niantic won't do anything about it.
Why do we care so much when Niantic cares nothing about these major rings of Wayfarer corruption?

I don’t have Twitter, and those I know don’t use Twitter. So from my very limited experience the games and Twitter combination is not popular. 🤷♀️
Every social media is stratified by age
Looks like the Japanese dominate the second challenge again...

Take it easy and stay healthy.

Good luck for anyone who'll participate, though.
Will the winners all be announced at the end of all the challenges?
I believe challenge #2 is finished and #3 is open for entries.
Just incase anyone was hoping for some sort of update and reminder from I dunno maybe Niantic or someone....
Yep, per @NianticTintino-ING 's post winners will be announced on October 21th.
(don't blame me, I'm just quoting!) 😂
I am the same way.

yeah, I don't love the social media aspects of the new challenges. Oh well.
Exciting news though.
With three entries so far the contest is really hotting up.
It looks like a close tie between the guys from the Incensed podcast and a picture with Tintino in it.
The clear winner for me by a mile though is @HaramDingo-ING's dog.
But... why? To all of this.

We've got the 4th entry now!
A valiant attempt but some of the Mystic crew seem to be missing. Airbrushed out?
7/10 but still not as cool as a dog in a bowtie.
Does anyone know how many entries the challenge is up to?
I think 8, don't know if they will count one of them that just show people's phones with their pogo trainer screen.
There is also a dog one and a pair one that don't meet the criteria.
Thanks :)
Thanks to yesterday's Community Day, looks like we got some new entries for Part 3 challenge.

The German bots posted a picture of themselves? That’s weird.
Did anyone win?
Did you get an email?
Do you think you'll ever get an email/DM?
Do you think you'll get the correct reward if you do get an email?
Their Twitter says they will announce the winners here and on Twitter on October 21st. 🙂
