What is the point of criteria if Niantic keeps Schrödinger Wayspots in their Lightship database?

Firstly I would give appreciation to @Robert4444-ING for defining Schrödinger Wayspots:
And what's so bad with them? They can't be removed unless one day they'll meet one of removal criteria. And because they'll remain in Lightship database which will be appeared in each games' map, users would think that they're eligible and so they'll keep nominating any similiar objects over and over (just like what I've stated in another threads).
Some prime examples can be found throughout this forum, including Foursquare imported Wayspots, residential housing welcome or name signs, state survey marks in Australia, chain stores in Japan (after Niantic removed generic business reason from rejection criteria) as well in Manado, Indonesia (as seen in one of my thread). Other examples are Wayspots within private or restricted area that require direct report from the owners or directors..., that's if most of them ever know the form exist.
To Niantic, would you like to keep the users by littering Lightship database with Schrödinger Wayspots? Or, would you like to overhaul removal criteria so that someday these Wayspots can be removed from the database?

What are some examples of the kinds of POI you’re talking about other than things that should clearly be 1 starred? I’m not including the survey markers or difficult to access places in that though.

Should be 1, but passed and cannot be removed.
Schrödinger Wayspots are fine.
What you might think is ineligible is because the vocal minority is influencing you to think that they're ineligible. Everything is subjective and privy to the sensitivities of a global product. Not all nominations that are eligible are accepted. Inversely, not all nominations that are ineligible are rejected.
In this case, a fire station was NOT removed due to emergency services.
If we look at Turkey, we see that the majority of trash is still live and in-game. It's still evident that there are still wayspots on the runways of their airport as well. The existence of such does not undermine the wayspot network. Why fight for a pristine, quality network when the same efforts is not exerted by the company themselves?
Maybe NIANTIC don't want good Wayspots network :P
Moar > Good.
I would tend to agree with you that those shouldn’t be passing. Man made trail markers are great, but anyone could walk through the forest and paint stuff like that on trees. If there was a trailhead sign that showed those markings as trail markers I’d be ok with it; but without that I’d assume it was someone trying to pull one over.
Now it's funny that @NianticLC decided to educate the submitter but let the momzyduringcovd stay. Another Schrödinger Wayspot remains in Lightship database...
I guess my question is related to this question below:
Hoping that gets into the Top 15. That, Contributions and the Portal/PokéStop/Wayspot questions. So long as those get into the Top 15, and get a proper answer, I don’t overly care about the other ones I have asked.
I was trying to figure out why I was tagged and finally found it. This still upsets me. All I honestly wanted was for this POI to be downgraded from a Gym in Pokémon Go to a Pokestop. Why? Because when raids were first released and Niantic was getting massive complaints, Niantic opened a way for cities or organizations to contact them asking to restrict raids from spawning. This happened at this Gym. And I can understand why when we had hundreds of people walking and driving to it and blocking the road. But there’s several more POI in that cell that could switch to the Gym if Niantic would do it. But they won’t.
Whoops. I didn't know quoting someone's comment/post results in a tag. Apologies for that. We also have a gym in one of our city centres that have disabled raids too. It's ridiculous that on a raid day, every single gym in the city lights up with the raid boss but not this gym.
There might be a way to downgrade that fire station gym though. Might have to think about it.
Niantic doesn't even remove the most basic street signs in germany, Kempten. They were only accepted by abusing the power of voting bots. There are literally hundreds of thousands of these in Germany, but somehow they don't fit removal criteria?? I can't tell why a sign telling me I can't park there is a good Wayspot. https://intel.ingress.com/?ll=47.739623,10.30042
