Average time for contribution management appeals?
Hi,
I recall there being an issue with the appeal system being "clogged". I believe @Tntnnbltn-ING raised this before. I thought that was resolved as suddenly a bunch of my appeals were verified a few months ago like a toilet drain being unclogged.
However, I have a Wayfarer appeal that has been sitting in appealed status since Dec 2021. Is there an ETA for these? Or should I just resubmit. I understand nominations depend on density/reviewer numbers etc and other factors but I don't understand the appeal queue.
The chat function for help isn't really helpful at it doesn't allow me to bring this up and given I do not have a determination yet via the contribution management is there any point posting about it in the appeals forum?
Thanks,
SM.
Edited to add:
If this belongs in the "appeals" section please feel free to move this. However my query is more along the lines of, what is the average ETA for a contribution management appeal?
I'm pretty patient as I have had submissions come through from 2020 recently but I had thought this would be faster.

My average is three months.
Hi @SerMochi-ING :)
The appeal queue is completely separate to the normal voting system, as it is done by Niantic’s internal reviews. They have mostly been processing in order of appeal, with some exceptions. The are currently up to processing appeals which were submitted in the March/April 2022 time period, based on reports from other people.
I myself do have one which was appealed in February which seems skipped in this process, however. I am hoping it does get picked up eventually.
The rate of appeals being processed will hopefully begin to speed up. During Dec-Feb, people were able to submit new appeals daily which created quite the backlog. This was switched to one appeal a month starting in March. This should mean many less appeals needing to be processed for April-present, and hopefully any appeals that were skipped get picked up during this time too.
It's a mess.
Yet again great initial ideas by Niantic that are badly executed.
The initial appeal process was not only not thought through but incorrectly implemented which created a backlog. Instead of spending time and resources to fix this it has been left to fester and reached a point where it can't be fixed unless Niantic want to spend time and resources....
The appeals themselves have been badly reviewed either by Niantic staff or farmed out to paid reviewers who are amazingly even worse than Niantic staff.
It will be fixed soon© or left to rot for even longer.
Wake up and smell the coffee as someone else posted recently.
Hmm. Oh well. Let's see. Also, you're welcome for the database.
I have 2 unresolved appeals from December and January. They are not processing them sequentially, and are not up to March/April.
The "process in the order it was received" bit is in an email, and ALL Wayfarer emails are wrong. No one proofread the emails AND/OR Niantic doesn't even try to be truthful. https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/37308/all-17-wayfarer-emails-are-wrong-and-or-misleading#latest
when they first started processing appeals and for a few short periods of time since then, it was not FIFO. but for the rest of the time they've been consistently processing the oldest first. so yes as a general rule tntnnblt is correct though there have been exceptions.
personally the appeal i submitted in February was resolved followed shortly by the one i submitted in March and i have seen enough other anecdotal evidence to suggest that they are in fact working on appeals in March or April currently.
I find it easier to think: appeals are just not FIFO - than to think: any remaining from before March or April are orphaned, forever limbo.
One of mine from January is in voting - surely that one will eventually be scored, even if they never look at the other old one, right?
I have had 2 "In Niantic Voting" for about 3 months now.
Seems like a broken system to me.
I'd love to be able to remove appealed nominations from my contribution management.
I have 6 in appeals including my original appeal I made day 1 and I have not made nearly the max appeals possible.
I still have my original appeal waiting to be voted on along with 5 others and I have not even used even close to the max amount possible.
