Personally I would rather see a more welcome approach here rather than have queries related to wayspots hived off to separate game forums.
Questions relating to proximity rules, lack of syncs, edits, photos and possibly scanning are all related to wayfarer. The more integrated this is, both across games and from submission, review to use of the wayspot, then the more people will stop and contribute and review. The move to a separate app, might also work better with a broader base of users.
Keeping things separate seems outdated and stagnant. Even if Niantic won’t say “Voldemort” we can provide the expertise - but please give us a lightship database base and ability to have overlays.
Honestly I agree, when anyone comes in with a query about pogo or ing, I'll reply with the answer if it's not something daft before niatic shuts it. End of the day, there is no where for pokemon go players to vent their frustrations to niantic, and the ingress forum has been ignored by niantic even worse than this one hase
With how some of the Pokémon GO community are, I get why nobody would want to moderate an official forum for that.
I guess it’s also dependent on what TPCi want as well. For example it seems that Niantic wanted Campfire integrated into apps, as it’s like that in their own IPs with Ingress and Peridot but for Pokémon GO, you tap the button to open the separate app. Then not to mention the whole “sunglasses Squirtle” thing from way back
Maybe they have been against it, which is why it’s gone nowhere?
Dunno, can't see tpi caring too much about a pogo forum. I'd more see it that niantic hardly want to interact on their own ips, so why bother with one they don't own lol
For the amount of times someone asks a Go question is it really that big a deal to say this is a Wayfarer forum and then point them in the direction of TSR which most Go players use anyway.
I think I mentioned this way back in one of my posts about a Pokémon GO forum before but the reason we even got this Wayfarer forum was due to a lot of Wayfarer/OPR related questions on the Ingress forums, so they set this up.
Over time, it’s become more and more clear that we need a centralized place for updates, conversations, and information related to Wayfarer.
So, is there enough Pokémon GO discussion to warrant there being a separate forum? I bounce between yes and no, depending on the influx that we get.
I think it’s probably better to moderate a users first few posts and then advise them where to go if they raise a game related issue (whether it’s Pokémon GO, Ingress, Pikmin etc.) rather than a Wayfarer related issue.
I am sure that Silph Road and the various Pokémon GO subreddits are fine, but I still think an official discussion place would be beneficial rather than players having to shout into the void of Twitter when there is a massive game issue (which it seems there’s been many of late regarding your previous comments on it @The26thDoctor-PGO )
Technical yes and a few other more monetary things people don't seem to be happy about.
I'm not sure the why is my p0kerst0p not appearing is a Go question really compared to the very few actual Go questions like 'Why has your pricing policy become extremely aggressive over the last year....' ' How do I get a shiny...'
I think at this point Nia are happy with people shouting into the empty void of Twitter or using TSR/Discord/Whatsapp etc instead of them having to deal with it.
I just checked Campfire's Pokémon GO group channel (official) again.
At the moment the group has about 74,000 members.
The Niantic staff is NianticTJ and he seems to be running it well to me.
So all in all, it doesn't seem too bad and I would say that there is already an official Pokémon GO forum.
Also, it seems to me that a few new channels (bug reports, etc.) would answer most of the players' requests.
However, there are a few problems at this point.
The biggest one is that it is currently impossible to view and post anything other than through the smartphone application.
And the smartphone application does not come with a translation function.
The easiest way to solve this is to make it possible to view and post on the web. This will allow many players to participate without creating official groups by country or region since they can use the translation function in browsers such as Chrome.
I remember that in the early days when we were testing this inside the Ingress application, we opened up a link to view it on the web, so this should not be too difficult a problem. (Whether Campfire's servers can handle it is another question.)
Other than that, what happens to the discussion when the number of channels in the group grows?
Campfire is similar to discord or Slack, so discussion topics flow more easily than Wayfarer, Ingress, Pikmin forums, or Reddit, but not as much as Telegram, so this is a matter of player preference.
I don't see this as a huge problem.
The success or failure of the Pokémon GO forum is more of the player's responsibility than Niantic's.
When the official group channels are filled with posts that can be called spam, as I predicted before, any form of spam will fail.
oh neat, if that counts as a forum I trust there will be no objections if the ingress forum is removed and replaced by a campfire group. In all seriousness, a forum website is specifically useful because of how easy it is to ask questions and find previously answered questions. The replies to an official twitter account can have plenty of discussion and interaction, but it does not fill the role of a forum. The same applies to campfire.
Yeah, even if the current Ingress forum is closed and replaced by Campfire in the future, it will not be a big problem for Ingress players.
And Niantic is launching Campfire (which originated from Mayhem, a gaming community platform they acquired in early 2021) to facilitate communication between users and staff.
It would not be surprising if they centralized all of their game forums on Campfire, given the significance of having their platform rather than other companies.
Conversely, my question to you is, what do you envision for the section where the Pokémon GO forum must be a message board type?
Many channels are already available on Campfire's official Pokémon GO group channel.

I thought only @PkmnTrainerJ-ING had the right to post about this 😂.
What? This is an outrage! Next you’ll tell me people post about trailmarkers on weekdays‽
On serious note, it’s been mentioned since June last year and Niantic said it had been passed to the relevant (I assume the Pokémon GO) team?

There is a Pogo forum on Niantic Campfire
I agree there should be a Pokemon Go forum, but this AMA is supposed to be focused on Wayfarer.
I did put "jokingly asking this"
But campfire isn't available for everyone yet...
The lack of a pokemon go forum has a direct impact on the wayfarer forum
No, it doesn't.
It is.
It absolutely isn't.
Ingress has a forum, it has ZERO effect on the wayfarer forum, and vice versa
You read it wrong. Those Trainers won't be complain about their in-game issues on this Wayfarer forum if there is an official Pokemon GO forum.
Well you can say they can use in-game support chat, but they choose not to 🙄

If Niantic feels the need to interact with Pokémon trainers, some form of forum will be created.
And I also believe that the Campfire site for Pokémon GO will be that. (Right now it's in beta and not open to everyone yet.)
So I'll be keeping an eye on the future developments.
That this has 9 🔼 before the Voting period has officially started is good. I wonder if they’ll acknowledge it at least.
we all know they won't

What sections do you think would be useful on a Pokémon GO forum? Like we have Criteria Clarifications etc. here?
As for the Ingress forums, they may as well shut it. Not like Niantic posts in it or pays any attention to requests/discussions there now.
Yeah, even if the current Ingress forum is closed and replaced by Campfire in the future, it will not be a big problem for Ingress players.
