Forgotten AMA Questions: Pokémon GO forums

I would think at some point, a properly moderated forum would archive the December 2022 AMA questions so I wanted to port some unanswered questions over the the General section to reach a wider set of people, and keep the discussions going so here’s one.
Asked jokingly, but with some serious responses and it’s often mentioned that the Wayfarer forums can feel like they are Pokémon GO forums from time to time as the players don’t have their own forum or outlet.
It has been raised a bunch of times before, but I feel that TPCi wouldn’t want to do it. Of course, better moderation here would help stop many non-Wayfarer related posts (including this one arguably).
I think that’s my last one for now. Happy for Disagrees and discussion on anything.

I can see that moderating such a Pokémon GO Forum would be an immense pain in the a$$. I remember that one time on r/pokemongo where the same question has been asked a dozen times by multiple users, because no one scrolled down one post to find out that the answer was already posted
But it's almost impossible to communicate with Niantic. The best option is a Twitter account, something along the lines of Niantic Helpshift. Ingame chat is meh, because you'll almost never get a sufficient answer.
People just want to be heard. A forum would help I think
Even using their Twitter for help seems like shouting in to the void.
I’d love to have a forum on Pokémon Go! Well, at least a place to voice the pain points and give feedbacks.
I guessed that the large number of players made this an impossible goal to reach. Being the monopolist of the area, there’s no reasons to listen to concerns and feedbacks.
When competitions exist, organizations will automatically ask the public for feedbacks. For example, hotel and airline industry. You’ll often received questionnaires to rate their performances, and area of improvements.
It’s like the Supply and Demand curves from the economic point of view.
The "official" group in the Campfire App is the closest thing to a Pokemon GO forum at this time - it is even half-moderated and has occasional "official" Niantic input.
Previous threads;
I always think Pokémon GO looks out of place on this too.
I think half-moderated is being very generous to Campfire. There’s a lot of Pokémon GO stuff that seeps into other official chats such as Ingress.
They also still have their official HPWU chat open when that game is coming up to a year of being closed.
It's unfortunate, but most of the Pokémon GO team only gets input from Pokémon GO influencers. They probably think that's enough.
That's why they invite influencers during fests and interview them in videos of the fests, posing as regular players.
On the other hand, the Campfire group is very generous to Pokémon GO and talks to the general players to make Campfire better.
Considering that the doors are already open, it seems to me that it would be better to get in line this way than to stand in front of a door that won't open forever.
Pokémon GO forum when?
Or would that affect the target that @NianticLC & @NianticOren are trying to meet of 50% interactions?
I appreciate your efforts to keep raising this issue on the Wayfarer forums all along, but we think it would be quicker to ask the Pokémon GO team staff in the real world.
Or ask NianticTJ on Campfire, where the door is currently slightly open.
It is much smoother for you, a native English speaker, to ask TJ than for me, a non-native English speaker, to ask him a question in a faltering conversation using DeepL.
Instead, if I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Tatsuo Nomura, one of the originators of Pokemon Go, I would like to ask him in Japanese.
Good point. I’ll ask TJ
I misread the name you mentioned as Tetsuya Nomura briefly. Too much Kingdom Hearts for me for the evening. Off to bed.
This isn’t forgotten. It’s ignored.
I'm sure having an official Pokemon Go Forum would immediately make these boards as pristine with Wayfarer-only content as the Ingress channels are Ingress-only on Campfire.
The Ingress channel on Campfire also seems to be the last to solve that problem, as certain game players who often write unintelligible strings of numbers appear frequently and seem to be quickly erased by the administrators as spam.
Did you get a reply from TJ?
I did not. But I’m sure they’re busy with more important things.
I plead guilty to sarcasm. Sorry, I do try to avoid that sort of thing, but sometimes it's just so tempting....
The "unintelligible strings of numbers" are friendship codes in Pokemon Go, of course. In Campfire, they're not even necessary: one can add friends by simply clicking on someone's profile and clicking "add". It's amazing how many people haven't figured that out. I do wish the Ingress chat in Campfire was gated to include only those with Ingress accounts, but that's difficult to implement (I'm a member of the Peridot chat to learn more before I can access this game, after all) and if any of those friendship spammers could be recruited into Ingress then I suppose it would be worth all the spam....but I doubt that would ever happen because they're usually banned quickly anyway.
Pokémon GO forum time, or maybe moderation of certain words so that topics aren’t even created in the first place?
