Snack Shack not accepted

I have submitted a snack shack twice, the first time my picture was too far away, so I resubmitted with a perfect picture, it was nice out, framed it perfect, it's fully accessible and it was just declined by Niantic with no freaking explanation.

I have a 5 mile loop I walk right now and I can hit ONE stop right now. Just one, at the halfway point. It gets real difficult to play this game when I have to drive a half hour to hit enough stops to refill gifts and stock up on poke balls, and my stops keep getting rejected for no stated reason.

This is really frustrating, and it makes me want to just say forget it, because apparently this game is only for people who live in a downtown city type place, because they're refusing to put in stops and don't give any reasons for their stupid rejections. "We can't have these people in the country be able to hit TWO pokestops on a 5 mile walk, that might break the game."

There are parts in the description that are inappropriate for Wayspot.

If this subject is approved, this spot could be reflected in Niantic games other than Pokemon GO.

Considering that it is used in other games such as Ingress, it is an unspoken agreement not to use the words of the game in the title or description.

Then why can't Niantic SAY that in their rejection? Or allow a freaking edit on a single word in an otherwise fine post? I guess I'll fully resubmit the exact same post minus a single word. What a dumb process.

Even in the examination by reviewers, using game words in the title and description will give a bad impression to the reviewers.

It is safer not to use game words as much as possible even in supplementary explanations.

The supplementary explanation should indicate the rationale for the candidate's suitability.

I'm not sure about Niantic's non-disclosure of rejection reasons.

This was the second one Niantic rejected without a reason. I appealed the first, but since I had no idea why it was rejected, I really didn't know what to say about it. I resubmitted the snack shack without saying the word "Pokemon" this time, but it's still stupid that you can't just edit a word out, and that Niantic won't tell you why.

When I nominate, I am conscious of "having people who have never seen the object understand its value."

If you're a reviewer, look at the nominations and think objectively about how you'd rate them.

Reviewing other people's nominations has also improved my skills.

I can also find the candidate presentations that are likely to be approved and the reasons for rejection by myself.

@HannibalSkye-PGO you should tell the reviewer where this is located as well to help us better understand. Example: baseball field, park, golf course, etc…

I agree Niantic should not tell you to mention the word Pokestop & then punish you for it. They do the same thing to those submitting from ingress. They just use the word Portal in place of Pokestop.

It also may be better to call it a concession stand instead of a snack shack but I recommend just going with whatever you prefer.

I like @82quuu-PGO’s advice. In the description info just do your best to tell everything you can about whatever you are submitting, it will only help in the long run. Also if you can find some links to a website, etc telling about it, share those in the supporting info

If I can be of any assistance feel free to reach out

I'll give you the same explanation why you shouldn't use game words.

Considering that it is used in other games such as Ingress, it is an unspoken agreement not to use the words of the game in the title or description.

He wrote Pokemon in the description, so Niantic decided it wouldn't work on other systems.

Both Pokemon trainers and Ingress players need to show respect and kindness to users of other games.

This could probably be acceptable. Where is this located at if you don’t mind me asking & does it have any history behind it?

    Hello@HannibalSkye-PGO

    its a learning curve.

The title of the wayspot threw me as it wasn’t something I had come across so the same may apply to reviewers.

I think in the supplementary (if you haven’t)it might be useful to include the Facebook link https://www.facebook.com/Traditions-of-Braselton-Community-Association-656536547767097/

    and describe that’s it’s a community.

Would describing this as a place where members of the community meet ( this ticks the socialise aspect) is it even a focal point on the loop?

As a point on the loop does it encourage exercise ?

Is it the only communal building like this locally?

All of these kind of points clearly mark this out as a significant, distinctive point and play up its significance.

In addition to your ineligible text, I would not vote to approve a snack shack or a restroom, in a park or along a trail or anywhere else, unless the building itself had particular uniqueness somehow. A building with food sales and toilets as its outstanding features is not a good place to explore or socialize or exercise.

@82quuu-PGO I apologize for not sounding more educated on the topic in my first comment. I should have gave a better explanation.

I should have explained that the last thing you want to do is mention any of the games in your description. Basically what @82quuu-PGO is trying to say is that whatever gets accepted is seen by Pokémon & Ingress.

And that’s not all…. It’s seen across everything in Niantic’s catalogue.

(Where I said this: I agree Niantic should not tell you to mention the word Pokestop & then punish you for it. They do the same thing to those submitting from ingress. They just use the word Portal in place of Pokestop.) Is in reference to another topic, but in no way am I intending or entertaining that anything game related should be mentioned during the nomination process. What I am meaning is that they literally tell the submitter to find a Pokestop (in Pokémon) & a Portal (in Ingress) to submit. What Niantic needs to say to the reviewer is to explain about the point of interest not the portal or pokestop. Niantic mentions Pokestop & Portal to the submitter during the nomination process & I believe that triggers the reviewer to believe that using those words is allowed, when in fact it is not due to these words being used cross platform & also out of respect & kindness for others. What I am basically saying is that I firmly believe that process should be changed for new submitters & new words should be used in place to make the nominating process a little easier.

Regardless @HannibalSkye-PGO, we all make mistakes, don’t let it discourage you. In the long run you will be better at submitting & nominating because of this. I’m glad you are here. If only every person that submits & makes a mistake could do the same thing.

PokéStop begs, your views and what Niantic can do about it?

    PkmnTrainerJ-INGJan 17, 2023

I saw someone note that the reason we get “PokéStop begs” (statements such as “no PokéStops nearby, please approve” etc.) is due to differences as to how the two games we can submit from word things. However, they are pretty identical.

    Ingress nomination supporting information statement;

Explain why you believe your Portal nomination is important and what Agents will see there. Effectively communicating these points will help reviewers evaluate your nomination and understand its value.

    and the Pokémon GO nomination supporting statement;

Explain why you believe your PokéStop nomination is important and what Trainers will see there. Effectively communicating these points will help reviewers evaluate your nomination and understand its value.

I know that the numbers will be higher for the amount of accounts submitting from Pokémon GO, and don’t intend to turn this into Ingress versus Pokémon GO, but is there a reason why people “waste” their supporting information with things like the “no stops nearby” etc.? More importantly, can Niantic do anything about it? Does it bother you, as a reviewer? Or do you just see it as essentially a blank space if the submitter has written something irrelevant?

My problem is with the fact that Niantic provides zero feedback, and I can't just edit. Don't like 1 word in it? Let me delete the one word. These things take so long to get reviewed and judged, that to see one get rejected with zero feedback is annoying. I shouldn't have to come here to find out why.

@HannibalSkye-PGO sorry if some reactions such as mine were not what you were expecting. As this is the nomination improvement section it is what normally people expect.

The lack of feedback is a constant issue that I think I can safely say that everyone would want a significant improvement in it, so that we could learn what has gone wrong.

As someone whose normal nominations take over 27 months to resolve I can totally empathise with waiting and waiting to find out it’s been rejected and I have to figure out issue and appeal or resubmit. A very unsatisfactory process.

Try to take the comments that we have made as the best you will get to possible feedback then you can decide what to do next. Good Luck

@HannibalSkye-PGO Howdy neighbor! I would love to help you out!!! I have a discord for Wayfarer for the whole state of Georgia. You are welcome to join where we can do all kinds of things to help you. We can help you make your nominations better and we can help you find things to nominate. It just takes a new way of seeing things! We recently helped someone add enough stops to their medical school that they got 1 or 2 new gyms and have become a Wayfarer pro!

I use this same handle on Twitter, Reddit, discord, Campfire, and all the games. Find me and I will send you the link to the discord.

OK, I think I found this building. It's a break building on a golf course. I don't hate that as a POI, but it's a tough sell. However, there's a lot you can add in the amenities section of this neighborhood. PLEASE REACH OUT TO MY GROUP! We can definitely improve your area!

I recommend it as well @HannibalSkye-PGO. You won’t regret it. Best of luck 🤞

Omg @HannibalSkye-PGO one of your submissions is Featured this week. Please, please, please reach out to me. You got 1 Stop where you could have gotten 3 by the way you named it.

That's a fine sentiment however Niantic could give a flying f"#k what is in their games as evidenced by a lot of the poi in their latest game.

@HannibalSkye-PGO I got your renewed nomination tonight, for review. I put in my review before I saw this post, but I still believe it is a usually-closed window that might occasionally sell things, and its main attraction is a bathroom. I didn't see how that met any acceptance criteria. And it's on a golf course - which Niantic says is reason to reject.

I'd love to explain further - and help find better nominations - on SeaPrincess's Discord group.

@HannibalSkye-PGO I drove out to your area today and nominated 29 things around town. Someone else on my discord had been through there a few weeks earlier and submitted some stuff that has already been approved, mostly stuff right in the town center/square area.

Unfortunately, there's a park not far from this snack shack, by a school, that I completely missed today. It has a few POI but I'm guessing there's more stuff that could be added there.
