I have a spot locally that I tried to get approved a few times. It was sucked into Niantic voting 2 or 3 times. There was no word in the submissions that triggered Niantic voting. I varied the names each time trying to better describe it. Niantic rejected it at least twice. I started to think that it was truly a matter of the location, like maybe they had drawn a square around some GPS coordinates and decided all things nominated within that square for a period of X days would go into their review. I've never heard anyone else talk about that so I'm sure it's a bad theory.
One day I got another person to come take a look at the things I was nominating. When she finally saw them, she was like, "Oh, those look much different in person than in the nomination screen." She agreed with me that they were worthy of being POI but would be difficult to get approved. The last version of the submission is still in local voting. I've since gotten other things in the area submitted so if these don't go through, it won't be terrible.
I nominated 9 other things pretty close by and none went into Niantic voting but you might be on to something. Next door to the BBQ restaurant is a day care or pre-school(LittleLearnersAcademy) that actually shares the same parking lot in some way. Maybe the school triggered it and pushed it into Niantic Voting?
I have a sub currently that's neither Go nor Ingress eligible. It is in voting though and I've previously submitted things near schools with an upgrade that went through without going into Nia voting so it would have to be a new 'feature' that an upgrade triggers Nia voting of things near a school?
These aren’t appeals they are recent submissions. I’ve not had an appeal looked at since my recent one from March and my older appeals still await review.
This was forced on-hold by Niantic at March 31 and I immediately released it from hold shortly after. Later it was sent into Niantic voting 2 days ago, and was accepted today. This is first nomination of mine among 16 nominations that went forced on-hold (and there are 2 more nominations with upgrade).
I don't want to argue if upgrades are affecting nominations sent into Niantic voting, but still can I get my 3 upgrades back?
@Spineyone-PGO We had an issue in our system where too many reviews were assigned to Niantic. We return most of them back to the community and started returning the upgrades which were used on submissions which were then assigned to Niantic (only happened if you'd put a HOLD on your submission and upgrading it).
Well your issue left my submition in Niantic voting from March 14 until April 6th now it's in voting with the community definitely did not Place it on hold or upgrade it. A little upsetting when I'm spending time nominating stops just to wait and wait for decision and you blame an issue with your system

The real question is will I receive my upgrade back after this immediately entered niantic voting after upgrading it? Ridiculous

Dang, I haven’t had any appeals go into voting since end of November - early December.

Mine from the other day and someone else's who also asked about an upgrade going into Niantic voting.
It may just be coincidence of course.
Interesting hmmm I will have to find something close but not on school property later today and see what happens.
I’m submitting 2 at various distances.

It seems like a weird thing to implement.
My gut feeling is that this isn’t the case but I have a variety of potential submissions that I can see what happens.
Seems unlikely.
Maybe just coincidences from more things being taken into Niantic voting?
I also have 9 in Niantic voting now.
Non of them near anything K-12.
Did they go into voting as soon as you submitted them?
Did you upgrade and then they went into Nia voting?
@FruSkatteKat-PGO
@The26thDoctor-PGO
could you post a screenshot of a wayspot affected especially if you had an upgraded one
None of them are upgrades.
Think the sat in queue for roughly between 4-12 hours before moving into voting.
Sure.
Just any?
any one will do
thank you
It's most likely a case of an upgrade going into niantic voting which seems to be a new thing?
Also a few people having things near schools do this making it look like a pattern.
Thanks we needed some examples.
Thank you
Did you want the whole submission or is that enough?
Pin is 50m from actual school property and 100m from where the pin for the school is on Google maps.
That’s all I need.
thanks to all of those that have posted screenshots previously too.

Just a quick update.
As once mentioned before, the ambassadors had raised this as an issue to be looked at.
Thanks for all the examples that were posted (I found ones in other threads too).
The issue is being looked into, it may take a little bit of time, but you will get an official response.
And as a follow up to the update.
A fix is coming soon, but we were
askedtold to be sure to add "tm" to the soon. Please check my previous thread for more details:
