Not Enough Spain Submissions to Review
If you have the Spain challenge button turned on, those are the only submissions you should be seeing!! Why am I getting local submissions to review?! I kept track of my last 12 reviews and only TWO were from Spain. This means it would take me roughly 6000 reviews just to reach the 500 Spain level. And it’s ridiculous that these incentives are Spain review specific IF NIANTIC CAN’T GIVE US A PERSONAL SPAIN REVIEW COUNTER. Niantic, your challenge is BROKEN!! You need to make adjustments to this challenge and give us credit for ALL submissions reviewed, not just the Spain ones.

Please be patient. We reported an issue to Niantic that was keeping nominations in POI dense areas from getting into voting queues. They are looking into it and trying to figure out a solution right now. Until then, they have adjusted the balance of reviews you will see from Spain simply so that you aren't forced to turn off the challenge to continue to review. I expect that they will adjust the balance back to what it was once they are able to roll out a fix for the remaining reviews.
First I had 100 spanish nominations, wich are almost all 1* and now I am lucky, if I get even one spanish nomination, but the ones I get now aren't that bad anymore or obvious fakes (I had three nominations with different pieces of art, at the exact same location and with the same extra foto and they all weren't there, lol)
i know you are an Ambassador. Please tell Niantic they need to give us challenge credit for all the local reviews we are doing when we were supposed to be getting only Spain.
I get quite a few submissions from Spain and most are of high quality...
The last 30 or so submissions I got are not from Spain. Did the event get over already?
Yesterday I got 80% of the submissions from Spain. Today only 10% and in the last hour there wasn't a single one from Spain. I won't even reach Tier 1 of the rewards.
Be patient. It's being worked on.
Was Spain just a bad suggestion if the problem is that we are only left with POI dense areas?
No, it's those POI dense areas that need the most help, IMO. They have 1 - 2 year backlogs. I live in a similarly dense area and there are still plenty of POI to add that we can't get through the system in a timely manner.
I think the Main problem is that it grabs wayspot contributions from all over Spain including the German exclave of Majorca.
If people would use the old system of choosing their review area they could tackle the big towns.
If the system in the hinterland is empty it seems that wayfarer thinks it's siesta
So Niantic is purposely pulling back the number of reviews we see from Spain?
No. The way it is pulling is messed up. It sounds like they are trying to figure out how to basically upgrade the areas that are submission dense. So that they all come through at once instead of resolving one at a time.
It is the one at a time that is killing us. Loads, gets approved/denied, wait a minute next one goes in. But with so many of us reviewing the queue is not reloading fast enough to keep us all voting.
Ohhhh i see
Is there a workaround such as changing bonus location for now or is it literally waiting on noms to go into voting?
I did 10-20 Spain reviews yesterday but didnt have much free time. Today I went to do more but I am only getting home country reviews, and the Niantic balloon bouncing for ages inbetween.
I just checked and bonus locations are unlocked. You could try setting it somewhere in Spain. I cant say if this will help though, if there is a problem in the back end causing submissions to not move from queue to voting.
Hola Explorers,
Thank you for those who have shared their challenge reviewing experiences with our Ambassadors, they have been incredibly helpful in our investigation. Our team was deep in investigation and will continue to do so tomorrow as we work on finding a solution. We will keep you posted once we have more to share.
Safe Exploring.
So basically let's take the night off and grab a drink.
Let's hope it's not just a lack of subs. Because if so, the 50 resolved subs from Spain that you need to profit from the bonuses might be out of reach for those that don't have the time to do 500 reviews in the timespan of the challenge. And because tracking your personal number for the challenge isn't possible without add-ons or manual tracking, people might just give up.
Thank you for the update.
As we all know, Wayfarer has major flaws, bugs and things that are unknown, even to Niantic.
Having a experience like this hopefully leads to a better Wayfarer at all. You can learn so much from this.
I think I got the big picture of the situation:
- The system will prioritize area with large number of backlogs (S2 cells based again?) hence it'll likely to focus at big cities or area with high number of players rather than rural areas,
- Then, the system will "assign" these backlogged nominations to all participants, at start the backlog clear speed is good enough that there are 10k nominations resolved at day 1..., but as soon as the backlogs decreased the system would have difficulties to "assign" which reviewers who should review remaining backlog nominations, resulting at constant loading per review, participants got more local nominations than Spanish ones, and end of review message.
Still didn't explain for Madrid case however, so feel free to give some corrections.
Yesterday have reviewed 20 Spanish submissions. Today, zero.
So general rewards are guaranty, plus 10.000 already review... But individual rewards not near 100... Why? It is looking there aren't any review left...
They have made progress with the issue and are hopeful that they can get things back on track quickly ( trying not to say soon™️), but as it’s now night time it won’t be until later today. The team will update once they know more.
The ambassadors will continue to contribute and will be raising the impact that this issue has had on doing the challenge and ability for individuals to reach targets - I plod through reviews and have done about 25 from Spain so am very aware of the issues. There is also plenty to learn from this, and everyone is keen to learn.
Although Day 1 (which went well) saw a large number quickly resolved, there remains a large backlog of nominations in Spain so there is plenty waiting to be done.
So for the moment if you want to keep in review mode it will always help your local area.
Can you tell us how much backlog (in rough numbers) is there so that everyone knows what to expect at least? if not comfortable sharing then you can specify as current number of reviewers * X number so that we can know we can/cannot finish our tier targets
I find it hard to believe Niantic is doing anything purposely (sorry, had to).
@AgentMeadify-ING
Hi sorry can’t say any more than what I have said.
To expand a little.
Ambassadors are under Non Disclosure Agreements so we just can’t give any of the details that might have been shared. It is important that we respect that trust so that we can have open discussion as we bring a wide range of knowledge and skills to the table that can really help with different things that impact on wayfinders.
We keep ourselves informed by listening to comments from here and other discussion fora.
Well. 70 reviews and only one nomination from Spain.... Looks like they don't want to give us those upgrades :P
malicious :P
Right now I'm refreshing my French because my local is in Barcelona (Spain) and I get more from (south) France than from any location in Spain hahaha
