Hello Explorers,

Thank you to those who have reported issues regarding their Niantic Wayfarer data being reset. The Wayfarer Team is aware and the fix is top priority.

On July 31, 2023 a maintenance issue impacted Wayfarer accounts linked to Monster Hunter Now. This issue caused data on some Explorers accounts to be reset. Our engineering team is currently working on a fix. We intend to reset impacted Explorers’ data back to the time just before the issue occurred. Explorers impacted by this issue should be aware that there may be a gap in data from the time we use to restore data and their actual activity since then. It should be expected that any review and nomination performed since July 31 and the moment when we restore the data will not be counted towards the users’ data.

For that reason, we advise impacted explorers to not review or nominate wayspots until the fix is completed to avoid further issues with your data.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are working on the situation diligently. Thank you for your understanding and we will keep you updated.

Update - 08/05/2023 JST

Thank you for your patience while we applied the fix. We can confirm that the fix was successful and all impacted accounts have had their Wayfarer stats fixed. Impacted Explorers can now continue reviewing and making contributions.

Thank you for your patience.

Safe Exploring

Will they also lose agreements resolved since July 31?

Harry Potter Wizards Unite was deleted without affecting players' Wayfarer. Why deleting Monster Hunter Now Beta get them?

Are you going to fix the bug that deleting any account also deletes Wayfarer? Or continue to process any deletion the same as a ban punishment?

Unknown about agreements. I'd think that's the least of the concerns for the affected community.

HP:WU data was not deleted, just archived.

Deletion is NOT the same as a ban and has vastly different causes and outcomes.

Deletion outcomes should not be the same as a ban, but I've seen too many people (for years) say they deleted their PikminBloom, PokeMonGo, Ingress, or other account - keeping one or more other Niantic accounts - and they lost their Wayfarer. The reason is because Niantic performs the same routine for deletions and bans. Less code that way.

You refused or didnt care the problems that people had in the past until it bothered your system...nice to see you dont care at all about your clients.

The worse thing this kind of stuff could have been avoided if years ago you cared enough, and so funny that i even mentioned this kind of problems in the future like 3 years or more ago...but the -ing guys just used to spam disagree because cant see the reality and the garbage coding niantic implements in everything

Well, I don't care if Wayfarer's achievements disappear as long as the Recon medal doesn't disappear.

In fact, it may have been more of a benefit since it reset my home position, which is not usually reset.

However, this issue will be a problem with Niantic's login system that has been mentioned before, and the system should be modified to resolve this issue in the future.

And they should work on resolving the issue of game account logins that can be separated to other email addresses but not merged to the same email address.

In particular, there is a problem with Pikmin Bloom where, shortly after launch, players who wanted the perks of a Nintendo account created an account using their Nintendo account, which made it impossible to integrate with the Google, Apple, and Facebook accounts used by Niantic.

This has yet to be resolved.

Perhaps Ninatic needs to implement two-step verification or some other means to resolve this issue, which could also contribute to solving the account hacking problem.

This should be done as soon as possible.

  • Hello Explorers,

Wayfarer will be down for a brief moment today while we work on restoring the accounts impacted by the Monster Hunter Now maintenance issue. Thank you for your patience. We’ll keep you updated as the fix progresses.
