According to Wikipedia, the Chapelle du Cantal was founded on August 22, 1687 by Jean Rigal d'Escorailles, comte de Roussille, seigneur de Cropières, who was its patron saint. Like the chapel of the hermitage of Saint-Curial on the Coyan plateau, it was intended to serve as a chapel for shepherds on the high pasture lands during the summer months, to ensure religious services in the mountains for cowherds during the summer. It remained in service until the French Revolution, when it fell into ruin; according to Abbé Pouilhès, the materials were used to build the Vigouroux church. Proposed description : Cette chapelle fut fondée le 22 août 1687 par Jean Rigal d'Escorailles, comte de Roussille, seigneur de Cropieres qui en était le patron. Elle était destinée à servir de chapelle aux bergers des hautes terres de pâturage pendant la saison d'estive afin d'assurer le service religieux en montagne.
