That’s not a watermark. It’s just a camera stamp. Watermarks have logos etc identifying the copyright owner. Like this.

Yes - camera stamps have always been a reject according to Niantic (although there's been plenty that have snuck through poor reviewers)
Countries like France and Hungary have a lot of these, do absolutely do not care about watermarks/stamps and also use screenshots of Street View as nomination photo instead of taking their own. Really annoying sending a lot of them to help chat, since both of these countries are in my review range (by combination of home location and stuff)
If it isn't a watermark, Why is it called Watermark in the camera app settings?
BTW, Niantic should adjust better their AI so it doesn't reject photos because they have "too much green" and add a first step basic classification to detect these watermarks and reject them with a proper rejection email.
Detecting these watermarks should be a piece of cake for the most basic vision algorithms, and I guess that after anyone gets their photos quickly rejected due to "watermark" they'll learn how to turn it off and they won't send any such photo again.
Right. Niantic isn't interested in advertising a specific phone make/model in perpetuity.
Hopefully (maybe) the nomination pre-processor AI now looks for a watermark and auto-rejects the nomination. (*) And, if it goes to a human reviewer, they should reject it.
OTOH we know Niantic doesn't care enough to run a program on existing photos, and just delete those with watermarks.
So if reporting is is frustrating, take care of your blood pressure and let it go. It is possible for Niantic to find it themselves if they want. It's up to them to want, or not.
(*) The above example is in the showcase, which means it's newly approved. But it could have been nominated months before the AI pre-processor started looking at new noms. OR maybe it was newly nominated. and AI didn't catch that. I dunno.
This type of "watermark" is pretty small and easy to miss for reviewers. I reject these, but I know that I have on a few ocassions accepted similar photos because I just didn't notice. I agree that AI should handle this.
