Removal appeal + Report abuse : Mouais, France
Hello,
several wayspots have been abusively reported, and deleted, recently.
The first one is Calvaire de Mission 1963 [location : 6 rue du verger, 44590 Mouais, France]
47.696918 , -1.646513
It's the second time this wayspot is reported, although it's totally legit : It was shown as an example on the wayfairer showcase less than a month before it was deleted !
It was actually accepted again very easily a few days later, as :
* it is of local interest (one of the 22 catholic crosses in the village, and this one is important because it symbolizes the last parish mission of evangelization, in 1963),
* and it's totally safe to access : there are grassy sidewalks on each side, a grassy area just in front of it (big enough for a few people or bikes to stop safely), a big speed bump to slow traffic down (and there really isn't much traffic !), and a pedestrian crossing to join the marked trail, as shown on Streetview :
I really don't understand why it's been reported, if not for dishonest anti-game reasons.
Two other wayspots have been deleted in august as well (and maybe more are yet to come...), after a rival came to raid the area :
* Marie sous croix [47.694295 , -1.642540]
Again, this wayspot is very close to the marked trail around the village, and safe to access.
* Croix des hautes Provostais [47.701363 , -1.653864], accessible by pedestrians using the grassy sidewalks. You can even park a car on the other side of the road !
Mouais is a little french village with about 360 inhabitants, so there are not that many cars passing by... but it has a rich historical heritage, worth sharing worldwide !
How come wayspots are so easily deleted when they are legit ?
Is there a way to report a report abuse ?

Comments
Thanks for the appeal, @Saturnie-ING. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspots.
Thank you but that doesn't really answer my questions, and doesn't explain why a wayspot can be praised one week and deleted the week after that.
On what grounds were these POI reported, exactly ?
There are people here that have successfully submitted the same wayspot over and over again, dozens of times... It doesn't make any sense !
Either it's legit and shouldn't be deleted (thus repeated reports are an abuse), or it's not legit and shouldn't be accepted after removal.
From my point of view, the problem stems from the fact that it is the community that reviews waypoint proposals and Niantic employees who review reports waypoint, each with a different point of view.
Many crosses and other heritage elements are almost systematically deleted by NIA when they are reported (in Ingress, whether by one faction or another), whereas they are almost systematically accepted by the Wayfarer community.
Indeed, NIA seems to consider that there is no safe access for pedestrians if there are no sidewalk or an other pedestrian-friendly facilitie. Indeed, this could pose a safety problem when playing by car. The deletions are therefore very practical for players in cars. But, in reality, it's usually easy to get to a POI safely via a footpath or the nearby field. So, according to NIA, there wouldn't many POIs left in the French countryside
What's unfair is that the parallel could easily be drawn with Waypoint in the city. It's dangerous to play a statue or carved window in a car (we all do it!), but it's easy to play it on foot.
I believe you're right.
And I think it's absurd to delete a POI that allegedly has no safe access for pedestrians just because there isn't a concrete sidewalk to get there : concrete has a dramatic effect on the environment, Niantic should know better... What's the point in supporting insect hotels as POI when prefering cement rather than natural grass ?
Thank goodness you don't find concrete sidewalks in every little village in France !
Besides, grassy sidewalks are as safe as concrete sidewalks, and traffic is a lot less dense in the countryside. Most of the pedestrian accidents take place in the city, and two thirds of the **** ones happen on or near a pedestrian crossing...
