If Niantic starts to at least mention which policies are violated and mention what waypoints are out of order, that would be a begin. I've nominated dozens waypoints through the whole country in the last couple of years and the large majority is accepted. I don't have a clue which were wrong when they mail me that I made incorrect nominations.
They started to remove waypoints which at least look legit, and when asked and referred to earlier statements of them, they don't clarify it further
You are correct about "abuse enforcement" email content. We Wayfinders sympathize - as people with a common general idea of what's ethical, and what are normal business operating procedures.
But Niantic does not hold those standards. Every email we receive has falsehoods and misleads. For years bugs have been opened about Wayfarer emails, but Niantic doesn't do anything about them. (For example https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/37308/all-17-wayfarer-emails-are-wrong-and-or-misleading#latest )
Niantic's focus is not in being kind or clear to their volunteer workforce - their focus is marketing their database. They do not have employees for documentation or community management - they mostly just have developers, and paying-customer facing folks. I understand this a little - I do want them to be profitable and stay in business. But I'm afraid this is eventually going to bite them in the wallet.
No. I am not just describing a chat group (and you really wouldn't know what group I am referring to, would you?). It covers a group - you can call it "community", does not make any difference - where the members all agree how to rate the various nominations. One thing is to ask for thoughts and input, another thing is to have an understanding about how you vote as a group. This will obviously boost every "group" member's individual Wayfarer stats, but in an unfair way.
Obviously the groups who agree to vote fake Wayspots through is the highest level of Wayfarer abuse in this context, but that does not mean the "agreement groups" are okay, AT ALL.
It's fine to actually have a community and swap thoughts and ideas, this is excellent. But it can so easily go into some level of influencing others in the no-go way.
Hello @Melurra-PGO, thank you for asking.
Wayfarer doesn’t condone the use of 3rd party tools/add-ons intended to abuse the system, cause harm to other Explorers, tarnish the accuracy of the map, etc. The use of these tools may result in a warning(s) or suspension(s) proportional to the severity of the offense. If someone does not indulge in these harmful practices, there is nothing to worry about.
