This has been a pokestop for more then three years and recently became a gym. Yesterday it was suddenly removed from the game and another tile became a gym. Is there a way te restore this? These tiles have been placed by the city themselves to form a route through the village past historical sites so there is no valid reason to remove these tiles.

Niantic more or less removed ALL tiles (mosaic tiles, ladybugs, etc.), regardless if they are related to pokemon or not, in the Netherlands. Any appeal appeared fruitless.
Even tiles that are trailmarkers, part of a formal route, organized by the city council, local news coverage in multiple newspapers are considered ineligible and reason for removal.

Thanks for the appeal, @RymeB-PGO. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
Is there a good reason for it? Because these tiles are placed by the city themselves and the stops have been there since 2020. There is also a new gym now that is also a tile so it makes no sense not to restore it…
