@NianticCasey-ING My biggest concern with this new "feature" is that you essentially cant end reviewing without timing out on the last thing in your page. This is bad for a few reasons...
-As far as I'm aware, once you skip or time out on a nomination, you can't ever review that nomination again. So i'm not helping that nomination by ending my review session with it.
-My natural turn around is 6 months, if a few people are forced to time out on my nomination, how long does that back up my nomination?
-If a review 3 nominations at a time, the 4th is timed out every single session i do. How does that affect my over all status?
-If I'm constantly hitting "no more nominations to review", forcing me to time out on any nominations is just stealing nominations from me.
Please revert back to the old way, i do a few reviews per day and i prefer the to be able to control when i want to stop reviewing.
You wanna implement better communication???
Then I would start here https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/comment/13328#Comment_13328
There you said you will check with the Wayfarer team and come back with some info, that was on the May 12 and May 13 after that you went MIA...
@NianticCasey-ING I am really confused. How are we supposed to end a session now? I have been trying to quickly close the browser tab before the next one can load, but I am not fast enough. I don't see any other way to stop reviewing. Sorry, this old lady has trouble seeing stuff on the screen if there is something new there I am not noticing.
This is not a good feature and does not help with speeding up reviewing. If anything it slows things down as now if I take a break I need to take even longer before I return to reviewing again to avoid being "flagged."
First let me say that I am fine with this change. However I think it could have been implemented better. I would have preferred that a button to go to the next review and a button to go back to home, rather than simply loading the next review when pressing the submit button.
This also brings up several concerns I have with how it is currently implemented.
Pure incompetence from the Wayfarer team. This combined with the no nominations feature, meanwhile please take 1 minute to review. They just don't want people reviewing.
Please give us the option of bringing the home button back. I very much hate the idea of a reviewer coming to one of my nominations/edits and not doing it cause they want to quit. This is gonna make more people lose out on potential reviewers.
Also, with this change, will letting reviews/edits time out no longer hurt your agreement count/rating? And will letting the nominations time out no longer have an effect on cooldowns directly? (not just the home button message)
I am actually really confused that this was on purpose. I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about the pop up for "review next/home". I sincerely hope that they have made it so you can later review the nomination you left off on. If not, I can see that creating issues, especially in places with very few reviewers.
This please. Simply adding a “Submit & Stop Reviewing (Home)” button to the bottom next to the current Submit button would easily solve this problem. Instead of the pop up box, just incorporate it into the bottom of the review page and make it a one step process.
This is a real good idea, that way people can keep a steamlined reviewing experience if they wish, but also be able to exit and not let a nomination time out whenever they want.
Hi folks, thanks for the feedback.
I hear you on the need for better, more consistent communication. I am working on addressing this. On this point, I can say that we have a long-overdue clarification into the criteria coming next week as well as some direct communication with the Wayfarer devs (details coming next week) and (to your point @Shogun79-ING) an explainer on the Wayfarer rating also coming next week.
Regarding timing out to end your review session, the Wayfarer team assures me that a timeout has no negative affect on your Wayfarer status or your rating. Alternately, you can navigate back to the Showcase section to end your review session.
To address your concern about timing out on a review impacting review turnaround times, they won't be affected. If a reviewer times out on your nomination, it'll be bumped to another reviewer. They won't sit on it (reviews aren't "checked out" like library books) until they become available again.
Please, please, please 🙏 take into consideration into the new updates the points discussed in the "criteria update" thread, as well as some of your more recent clarifications, such as the one about tennis courts and playground equipment. Many of them are frequent questions that get asked in your forums and in other groups and having them in published guides would do wonders to bring everyone together.
"Next week" like the red rating topic, meaning "not for another 2 months at least" ?
@NianticCasey-ING "Please ensure that you complete reviewing each nomination that is assigned to you."
"bumped to another reviewer" but will it circle back to u? if a nomination keeps getting bumped due to time outs, this could keep it longer in voting especially in areas with few reviewers
"Bumped to another reviewer" implies an infinite pool of reviewers. If there is no mechanism in place for a submission to ever return to a reviewer that has timed out on it (after a suitable time lapse), a submission can theoretically run out of reviewers and become unresolvable.
Hooray for features we don't want, never asked for, and were never told about! Why waste time implementing stuff like increased storage in our two most established games, better ways to earn in-game coin, or bug fixes that actually fix bugs?
Can you not simply add a Submit & Home button so that we're not caught in this endless loop? Just FYI, when this started happening I was convinced it was something on my end. I went deep into my preferences to look for pop-up blockers, examined extensions, switched browsers back and forth - so a general waste of time. I generally do a few reviews as time allows throughout the day and being immediately sent to the next review pulls me into a loop of despair. If the next candidate shown is either extremely worthy or outright garbage, I feel like I'm doing a disservice by abandoning my review. This is a bad, bad change.
I do not like this *AT ALL*. I want to be able to stop when I want.
I shouldn't have to "shortchange" someone's nomination by essentially getting to one I don't like/dont want to vote favorably/isnt important to me/is a duplicate to not cast my vote. None of the outcomes from this are good.
Valid portals get fewer votes in a timely fashion.
Invalid portals might not get voted duplicates or rejected in a timely fashion.
I don't believe its fair to essentially just keep dumping the next review at me - I'm very particular about the way I vote and do not prefer this change. Please put it back to its previous state.
I've always thought that letting reviews timeout can give a 24 hour cooldown, and we should always complete them, contrary to the recent advice from Casey. I expect we'll see more of this. More ridiculous replies from the wayfarer team contradicting previous advice and ignoring user feedback.
@Davejjjjj-ING do not be so harsh on the wayfarer Team. They are doing their job and we all are paying them. We shouldnt demand so much from them, and we do not know the secret recipe behind all this.
I don't even have proof that they exist, or that they are actual humans. They're implementing a change requested apparently ages ago that should have been an additive change and have made it a transformative change instead. There were no release notes or publication of this update. I wasted my own time troubleshooting this "working as expected" issue since the alleged Wayfarer team just throws stuff out with no notice to the people who actually need to use the functionality, only to have that team's only part-time mouthpiece tell me that oh, yes, this is the way it's supposed to be, go about your business. Thank you, but I think we can be harsh in this instance.
also to add to this, i do not see that NIAPooja is still with us. Gone or MIA.
"more streamlined for reviewers who are in the zone"
This change is implemented yet we are punished with cooldowns for going too quickly? I just returned to voting after months of seeing how many people have had issues going to Red shortly after the double points (for the Ingress badge). It took maybe an hour and a half of good reviewing on Saturday to get rewarded with a 4 hour cooldown. Something is definitely broken, and miscommunication is only one small part of that.
"2. to respond to a long-requested piece of feedback specifically about removing this message."
Was this a suggestion sent by a single person multiple times? I don't see how this could be beneficial for vast majority of players. Did it interfere with someone's bot? Maybe a toggleable switch in Settings would have been more appropriate.
I really don't understand the complete removal. I am quite confused how this is implemented over fixing the other issues reviewers are experiencing.
Thank you for your time to read and respond to all of the player's concerns, and thank you for the work in looking into the issues and attempting to address most of them.
I did all of four reviews before I got hit with the "are you a robot?" prompt. So much for being "in the zone."
Anyone else seeing more robot prompts?
So much for helping with being "in the zone"...I only did about four reviews before triggering this.
This particular feature has introduced a new mini-game for reviewers - wait until a review you are ambivalent enough about to not care whether it's accepted or rejected so that you can stop reviewing. Was that really the goal?
This..
Me to. Please resolve the bug soon. @NianticCasey-ING
I only have time to review 10 nominations a day. Ever since this feature was introduced I'm leaving 10% of the nominations without a review.
After just a few days of this happening I'm getting a message saying that there are no more nominations to review.
I've been getting this for close to 5 days now. I know there are nominations to review since my friends are getting multiple nominations I have not reviewed.
Please review what happened with my account, and how this intended behavior has now affected my ability to evaluate.
