What type of post box is this and would it be acceptable?

As asked above. I've seen a couple of these around 1 area but I've never seen it anywhere else

Carron was the manufacturer - relatively short lived attempt at square boxes in the late 70's. The public hated them so they were quietly dropped for round ones. Interesting, but not that uncommon a few thousand were made - I couldn't say they were really historically significant or visually unique. The only Carron box I've seen that I'd pass is the silver jubilee special complete with a silver crown on top of the box.
Never seen one of those! No royal cipher (ER / GR / VR etc) so are they in Scotland? I know that there were objections to the ERII cipher (because Scotland was never ruled by Elizabeth I!) so postboxes were installed in Scotland showing a crown but no cipher.
The Carron Company was (till the early 1980s when it went out of business) a metalworking company that made a lot of postboxes.
The people who will definitely be able to help you ID these postboxes are the Letter Box Study Group. I had no idea that there are 800+ varieties of pillar box (so not counting any of the wall-mounted / lamp-post boxes!)
One question to ask the LBSB is 'how unusual is this postbox?' Because my initial reaction was: oh, it's modern so not worth anything culturally/historically. But looking more closely - and trying to find out about this model - they may be quite rare.
Scottish Crown is basically E2R, so if you're going by cypher alone, it wouldn't be accepted. Personally, that particular style of postbox isn't really that great, in my opinion, and a lot of reviewers feel the same way, so probably not worth wasting a submission on.
But surely by now, you know better than to start another postbox thread?
Thought this one was a bit rare as I've literally only seen 3 and they were in this one wee tiny area. O was expecting only dazz to complain so was just going to ignore him
