Churches that do not fit the traditional look often get rejected. I never viewed the appearance as what defines a church, but I guess some other people do.
One thing that I would recommend is doing a little research into the church. When was it established? Who does it serve? Is there an interesting story around it?
Answering these questions may help convince some reviewers and would improve the quality of the submission
