What Are Your Thoughts On A Park & Ride Hub? (Bus Related)

AScarletSabre-PGOAScarletSabre-PGO Posts: 751 ✭✭✭✭✭

I tried a few months ago submitting a Park & Ride bus station* and it got rejected twice. It would seem a bit more special than an ordinary bus stop as Park & Ride services are an uncommon sight indeed. I tried getting it through as a transit stop but people weren't sold.

I could post images if it helps. Or is the general consensus "no" regardless. I understand "regular old bus stops" wouldn't be accepted of course, and I would contend there is a large chunk of land dedicated to the Park & Ride service, which will suggest it is a kind of landmark in its own right.

*To be clear when I say "Park & Ride bus station" I mean the terminus point for the bus and the area (there is a shelter and information signs) where people wait for the bus after getting out of their private vehicles. I am not trying to submit standalone bus stops. The route is a limited stop service anyway, so it doesn't really stop are any intermediate stops.

Unless there is something historic, culturally significant, or visually unique to the Park and Ride, I would consider it an ineligible location. Locally, one of our Park and Ride locations has a stop, but it's for a rock garden & waterfall display created by the city.

If you are dead-set on making this particular location a stop, I would revisit the area and see if there is anything that you may have missed that could set it apart. If not, then it just doesn't qualify.

Park and Ride area wouldn't really qualify as a transportation hub, it's more like a bus station with a parking lot.

One of the reasons I asked is because I've come across Park and Ride as Wayspots before. I guess this one was accepted in error. Thanks everyone.

Just to clarify (because I'm new) - would rate something like this as a 1 and say that it doesn't the criteria?

Also I'll add advice to avoid using existing POI as guides for submitting new ones, for two reasons 1) guidelines change, and Niantic lets grandfathered submissions stay (in fact, you often won't have much success getting one removed based on the fact that it doesn't meet current criteria - unless it falls under a specific rejection reason such as being on K-12 school grounds). 2) Stuff gets accepted all the time that doesn't actually meet criteria, due to reviewers not following the guidance.

Never seen park and ride as bus stations. The one in my town just seems to be used for coaches when they're bringing in day trippers during in the summer.

However, there might be things in the park and ride area that are eligible, so I wouldn't rule out not being able to get a wayspot at your local one just yet. But I wouldn't think of it as eligible as a transport hub.
