I'm confused. I thought all Wayfarer talk was now supposed to be in this forum and the other forum was locked. Yet, the official Niantic response is to go find a link to the old forum for the actual response??
I get that switching to a new site is hard, but it's way harder if some new communication is here and some is there.
Edit: Sorry. Misread. Guess I'll scroll way back to the top to read the update...
After reading the update, I don't believe the part about a filter catching game specific terms in supporting statements is correct.
A LARGE portion of nominations I review include things like "need more stops" or "would be a great place to play pokemon", etc.
I still see some of that in titles/ descriptions but those are fairly rare. I could see those getting through a filter. But not the ones in the supporting.
When nominating new candidates, avoid using URLs, emojis, or game-specific terms (will be great as a gym etc.) in the title/description/supporting text. This will help you avoid delays and save your Upgrades for eligible candidates.
How does this help to save upgrades for eligible candidates? The upgrade is applied automatically to whatever you nominate. But do automatic upgrades work correctly like manual upgrades?
@NIAPooja editing Casey's post honestly makes this thread more confusing. Can you please made future posts normal so they appear in chronological order? Thanks.
I have to admit, I don't think this is helpful at all.
@NianticCasey-ING has been throwing numbers and percents around since January, and on January 30 even said all but 100 stalled upgrades had been cleared. Unless my 16 failed upgrades accounted for 16% of those and I knew every one else with those issues, there were more things happening.
I've been reviewing my nominations that had failed upgrades, @NIAPooja. I'm very familiar with some of the more erroneous text filters on this forum, but I fail to see any words that could have potentially been flagged. Similarly, even nominations I expected to be rejected bare noting that should have been flagged as abuse - if they were flagged, the person flagging should honestly be flagged as an abuser.
After over 3 months of chasing this, all of my upgrades have cleared voting, and I still don't think Niantic actually gets what happened or cares enough. I've asked time and time again for effort to be put forth to prevent this from happening in the future and for some semblance of compensation for the reviewers you failed, and I don't see either of those, yet.
i think it would be rly faire when you would allow wayfarer people to chose 1 or more subbmissions (like 3 perhaps?) to get into voting with your help because they are stucking. some submissions are rly important and people who use the forum get rewarded. cant be that they stuck even with upgrade since over 5 weeks ...... be honest!
So the update is not an update on the issue we are facing, but an update on the reasons that were already given.
It's still not clear how it is possible that nominations with the same age from the same area and all upgraded partly go through within days while the other part stays in voting for weeks. If the reason is "lack of reviewers", it would mean they suddenly all stopped reviewing.
There might be other hidden mechanics that are not communicated. But it still looks like upgrades are not reliable because of other reasons besides the ones that were already given.
Other Issues: Some Upgrades may be still pending review due to the number of reviewers in the country or due to insufficient number of votes from high-performing reviewers. In addition to working on helping the reviewers improve the quality of their reviews, we are also fast tracking the review of nominations in these locations.
The literal point of upgrades is to push nominations outside of your area to give them a boost. In my region, we have dozens of reviewers yet it still takes over 6 months for a nomination to close out - lounger in most cases. Even if we didn't have enough local reviewers, the system should not punish a person's upgrades for something outside of their control. As suggested earlier, I believe the system should have an added flag for when a nomination receives an upgrade and then re-upgrade it if it remains in voting (or queue) for longer than 3 weeks.
Rural prioritization already happens, and is great, but it's also happening in a way that punishes non-rural nominations. During the 3 months I waited for my 16 Upgrades to close out, I had over 2 dozen "rural" nominations without upgrade closed out because they had the benefit of being 2 miles from my normal region. Most of those were closed in less than a week. Yet your system allowed upgrades to remain in voting for months and failed at providing a fix.
Most of my nominations have also been stuck for many many months, even those that I applied upgrades on. All of them are in the NR02-GOLF-08 cell.
So far, I even withdrew 6 of my upgraded nominations that had been stuck for almost a year, re-submitted them (same text, same pictures) and then upgraded them again. 5 of them went through quite fast (within hours to a few days), but 1 got stuck in queue again... I’m getting kind of sick of wasting all my upgrades, so any help would be greatly appreciated. @NIAPooja@NianticCasey-ING
A big thanks to Pooja for the last update! I was able to get some more details about what's going on to address this issue and wanted to bring them to you here.
Some changes were made to the queuing logic to make it more likely that a nomination that a reviewer is looking at is an upgraded nomination vs. what would organically be queued for them.
Another block of upgrades were found to be held up due to outdated logic, which has been removed and these upgrades are being queued for manual review by my team.
On the even better news, the Wayfarer engineering team is building a tool that will alert Niantic Ops to the oldest upgrades and allow the team to take action to either queue them for review or review them manually. The goal there is to help address upgrades that are not progress due to too few reviewers in a given country. This should really be the last remaining reason the oldest items are still in queue.
With all of these changes and updates, I'm happy to say that 99% of upgraded nominations are now newer than Feb 20, 2020. We're slowly chipping away at this and I sincerely appreciate your patience.
@NianticCasey-ING A bit off topic, but still in the same arena, what about edits that have been held up in the queues for years due to lack of reviewers?
thanks for info! but people can tell much stuff and at the end nothing happens. first I wanne see changes and this will only happens when people here tell about their old submissions ... same for me. i wanne see that old (months or some weeks) submissions are coming into voting ..... so many upgraded stuff and nothing happend.
In general links can be used to maliciously attack ur pc/phone so i for one never click on links when reviewing, its unsafe. I Totally understand if Niantic would advise against it. @GearGlider-PGO
Tell us Just one Thing @NianticCasey-ING @nianticPoojay - why in gods Name doesnt your system Just Take old submissions and priorize them 100% ? You could have one week or 2 days in the week Just to clear out that backlog?! I am still getting submissions from summer
I have a question. What happen with the nominations in voting without upgrade? I have one from november and one from december.
I asked local wayfarers and not all of them had the opportunity to vote the nominations... and both are stuck. And I can't upgrade because they're already in voting 😩
as some people mention it .... some people here get man % today even 1-3 upgrades. seems something happens. even one old submission of me was getting into voting and 5 hours later it was accepted! but lets see what the next days happens :) !

ah ok sry now i get it ..... wow that "update" amazing haha!
but they told they wanted to look for the issus last weekend ....
Would love to have an update to this. Still got one stuck from the 15th December. Upgraded and in voting.
I've had at least 28 subs approved since.
This update wasn’t new or helpful at all.
None of my Stuck in Queue Upgrades include any English or German bad Words. I’m down from 8 to 5 tho, edited them countless of times - nope.
(maybe "Grumpy" lol)
What’s the deal with this ^
Edit: Added this from my Ingress Post in hoping to get a clarification :)
Help @NIAPooja
almost same like last post .... we all need rly help!

Btw. I have never received a result for a non-upgraded nomination before.

Much ❤️ for this update, Thank You!

@NianticCasey-ING will the same logic apply to the oldest of "non upgrades" ?
Any chance bout helping out areas with edits that have never resolved? Please? With a cherry on top?
Thanks a lot for these details! Something seems to have changed, I now got a lot more wayspots to review without description (old ones from Redacted).
thanks for info! but people can tell much stuff and at the end nothing happens. first I wanne see changes and this will only happens when people here tell about their old submissions ... same for me. i wanne see that old (months or some weeks) submissions are coming into voting ..... so many upgraded stuff and nothing happend.
@NianticCasey-ING Well, I'm guessing that these 7 nominations are part of the remaining 1% older than Feb 20, 2020 then... :(
i even have submissions "after" feb 20 2020 wich are still in queue ..... hope something happens.
We're slowly chipping away at this and I sincerely appreciate your patience.
Patience @Affekong-ING I have also 4 left, give them some time.
one by one, slowly but steady👍️
I have a nomination stuck in voting more then 3 month now. I didn't track, when it went into voting state, but I think, it was October or November....

@Seklai-PGO You can still upgrade nominations that are in voting. In fact, I feel like upgrades work best in the situation you describe! Good luck!
