This is gonna mess up Pokemon GO in my community, because there's haters all over that loves to **** over Pokestops and Gyms....
The idea is that if that if everything exists in one game that exists in another, and there is some use of it, it is less likely to be gamed or optimized. Granted there is still incitament for optimizing pokestop/gym density, maybe it will be slightly less if there is other use of Wayspots.
But most importantly, and not related to this topic. Everything should exist everywhere, so that all clients can help improve on the content of the database, not just limited to knowing a subset of it's existence.
🤦🏻♂️ absolut Nonsens.....
There is no Reason for ....
And there is no understanding 👎🏻
Is the worst decision that take niantic, yesterday loss 3 pokestop without reason aparently. Only wanted same equalty for 3 games of niantic.
In my comunity had 0 abuse with this system and finally pay off with pokestop loss... 😕 No is fair @NianticCasey-ING
For anyone still complaining and expecting a different outcome, a reminder of the tags on this thread.
@NianticCasey-ING then y isn’t the rule being applied to ingress portals that violate the distance rules as well. They are staying in game . . . Even ones closer than 20m...
rules are being arbitrarily applied to only one game
People really need to get it in their heads that Niantic was expecting everyone to act in good faith and not use exploits to gain an advantage. Unfortunately, a significant group of Pokemon Go players broke Niantic's trust and now Pokemon Go has to pay the consequences of that broken trust. Ingress players, on the other hand, have yet to break that trust.
Maybe, just maybe if there was no arbitrary restriction that caused only a subset of Ingress portals to show up in Pokémon Go (as PokéStops or gyms), people wouldn't feel the need to move portals around to get around the restriction. L18 would be an improvement over L17.
You know, after everything that has been said in this post, I can kinda agree with the argument you're bringing up right here. However, Ingress players also have to stop acting as if they're some sort of unearthly, immaculate entity that can always be eluded by the rules. We've seen countless times already, in our community alone, that many Agents have been abusing the system only for personal advantages, sometimes by requesting micro-edits to an enemy Portal just to let their Fields drop, or other times they've gone as far as straight up suggesting the deletion of Portals if they were recurrent strongholds for the opposing faction. Once again, I'm not saying this kind of practice is exerted everywhere, but it would be better if the global Ingress Community as a whole was at least aware of these people's actions. Because this kind of abuse clearly represents an obviously harmful approach to the integrity of all Niantic games, especially since the changes that have been recently introduced
My fellow ingress players are not all saints. Long before Pokémon Go players were allowed to take part, portals would be moved about for advantage.
There has been mis use by Pokémon Go and Ingress players alike.
We have no idea of the scale of the problem (mis use of the location edit) since no one has released that information.
The deep sense of frustration and injustice is very understandable.
Niantics inability to communicate across all the games is damaging. It help fuels this divide between different players roots.
just adding my voice, that this is a terrible change, people will start abusing this to maliciously delete pokestops and gyms.
our community has already lost two gyms and who knows how many pokestops.
please find a different solution to location edit abuse as deleting/downgrading gyms and removing legit pokestops from pokemon go is not the answer and does not constitute "improvements to Pokémon Go"
This is honestly ridiculous and it's going to end up destroying many dense PokeStop/Gym areas (such as NYC) How is this going to encourage players to want to submit a new and better photo, or update the horribly existing description when they know that if their simple edit gets approved it will cause other Pokestops that share the S2 L17 cell to be removed completely from Pokemon GO. No, you aren't doing this for the "best interest of the player experience" you just want people to obtain less items, so they can purchase items from your shop instead. If you truly had the "best interest" in mind, then please tell me why Harry Potter Wizards Unite has an S2 L18 cell limit which literally allows them to have 3 extra wayspots than Pokemon GO inside a cell? The game "experience" isn't affected by L18 cells, so why should Pokemon GO get the short end? Oh, yeah, because it's all about money to you people.
Happened in France too. The tallest building in Marseille disappeared from Pogo but is still in Ingress. I think someone moved it to the nearest S2 cell where a gym was and poof it vanished.
Seeing small pokestops disappear is annoying but a massive landmark and monument like this... it goes against what Niantic was trying to achieve with the whole " Go out and discover".
If someone were to move the Eiffel tower a few meters, it would also vanish I guess. Doesn't make sense.
That's what Pogo has to pay for systematic community-approved abuse of Wayspot edits. Sweet.
