Niantic needs to remove these From ALL Niantic Games (Ingress, Pokemon Go, Wizards Unite) and not just Pokemon Go. These are all inside a ACTIVE MILITARY BASE, and as per Niantics own rules:
“Nominations whose real-world location appears to obstruct the driveways of emergency services. This includes anywhere that may interfere with the operations of fire stations, police stations, hospitals, military bases, industrial sites, power plants, or air traffic control towers.”
I have contacted Niantic several times as has Royal Air Force Police from RAF Lossiemouth, all to be ignored. I then reached out on Twitter, to be messaged on Twitter to then be further ignored and unable reply to Niantic through DM, then further tweets ignored and further emails ignored.
You have repeatedly been requested to remove these, with the RAFP being involved asking you to remove them to no avail. This is not acceptable. So you cannot respond to me saying “we’ve had no request from RAF Lossiemouth”, because you HAVE had the request from RAF Lossiemouth but elected to ignore it. See attached email for proof of this.
I’ve also included an email from 2019 when Niantic DID remove a stop, after being in contact with the same RAFP.
Not that I should have to add this, but I will; RAF Lossiemouth is an ACTIVE base, there’s a massive risk of being SHOT.
These should never have been approved, and I shouldn’t have had to go through this much hassle to get them removed, along with RAF Lossiemouth themselves trying to get them removed.
Excellent post Sarah, they need to remove these portals ASAP, Lossie is a highly guarded active airbase that homes part of the UK fleet of bombers and fighter jets.
Would you get shot for going to subway too? Looks like it is part of an area for family's to be if there is deterant to stop people going into the site what is the problem. My point being this looks like a civilian area not the locked down military base itself
It is all behind a fence with a guard post. Many UK military bases have franchised food outlets inside the base.
As you can see the entire area is active and fully guarded off. The public can not enter. At all. I have tried for photos of planes and it was a complete no no to any form of entry.
Similarly they have a Costa and a PO, which is personnel and Pass holders only.
"The Premier shop and Post Office on Station are open to spouses, partners, and RAF personnel who have a suitable pass to access the Station."
Civilians are not allowed access to the base unless they have business on the base, so no, civilians will not access that Subway. The Subway is for base personnel to use, the general public will not gain access to Subway.
The entire base is guarded off, I don’t get why this is so hard to understand.
Thanks for the appeal, Agent. We reviewed these Wayspots and decided that they do not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
They shouldn’t have been approved in the first place, you’ve had direct requests from RAF Lossiemouth to remove these, and it’s an extremely active military base... and you think they should stay?!
So if its all fenced off and the public can't get there then how is it a problem for the people on the base to use. Since Joe Public can't get there anyway if it is guarded so I don't see your point. All look valid football pitches churches etc it only has to be avalible to some. So public acsess doesint matter
It's an issue if someone gets shot or arrested for trying to get onto the base without the proper authorisation/clearance. Portals on an active military base shouldn't have been approved in the first place.
As per Niantic’s own guidelines, which I literally included above, along with making it painfully clear RAF Lossiemouth have requested the removal of these POI to no avail;
“Nominations whose real-world location appears to obstruct the driveways of emergency services. This includes anywhere that may interfere with the operations of fire stations, police stations, hospitals, military bases, industrial sites, power plants, or air traffic control towers.” is a reason to REJECT a nomination.
Also, what part of “the MOD, the RAF, the literal landowners have requested their removal to be ignored” did you NOT understand?!
Raf did such a good job emailing them didint they maybe leave it up to then and get of your high horse you but hurt you can't use them?
No need to start getting rude just because someone pointed out that the wayspots shouldn't have even been on that base to begin with.
That’s... not the reason I want them removed?!
The RAF HAVE emailed them, to be ignored. Repeatedly. I was asked by a contact to do the removal request process via ingress because Niantic repeatedly ignored RAF Lossie when they went through the Pokemon removal request.
Definitely no other reason to get involved tbh legitimate portals for the family members on site to use I really don't see a problem. Noone is going to break into RAF Lossiemouth if You can give me proof that they do or have I'll maybe agree they should go
Garry should stick to cheesy pasta and curly wurlies.
Garry, I could easily give you proof, you just wouldn’t believe it. Stop looking for fights. You’re exhausting.
Have you even been reading @ZombieSazza-ING 's comments?
It's not a hard concept to grasp - WAYSPOTS SHOULDN'T BE ON ACTIVE MILITARY BASES.
I don't see it on a fireing range or even a non family member area there is such a thing as a family in the military I mean is one not a playpark?
So you have no proof that people break into the base
It doesn't matter if it's in a family area or not, the guidelines and criteria are clear that things on active military bases shouldn't be submitted.
But if we're going to go by your logic, we might as well as start submitting noticeboards on schools, or people's fences, because we can touch them from the public streets without trespassing.
Not at all. You just can't read.
Spots on an active military base are not eligible portals. They should have never been approved to begin with. You either play by Ingress rules or you don't. There is a large active community that tries to ensure players are submitting portals that stick within the rules, however when a blatant rule is being broken, that same community endeavours to resolve it correctly.
There are two issues here.
What part of this do you you not understand?
Peoples fences maybe depends tbh schools no I'm not that stupid but who let them through then must have some merit
Not implying you're stupid, just going by your logic that if it can be safely accessed by someone, it must be okay, so I'll be sure to put in my supporting statements your reasoning so I can get school noticeboards approved.
But wayspots on active military bases have no merit at all because the criteria clearly states that things on active military bases shouldn't be submitted or approved.
Maybe you should stop submitting if that's what you are going to submit schools are a no no everyone knows that. A park which can be accessed by raf officials family's does not seam that bad to me it's hardly going to interfere with anything else maybe you lot shuld get a life with how you review things maybe remove those sticks from up your asses
I don't really understand this stance, if new points can't be approved there and military commanders don't want them, why would they not meet the criteria for removal? I understand residents on base thinking it is okay for wayspots to be in residential/commercial areas (like commisaries) on base, but if it is true that the commanding officer has requested their removal, why wouldn't they be removed.
There are a lot of Wayspots that "shouldn't have been approved", but Niantic only removes them if they meet the removal criteria. If the base's commander doesn't want them, then they will have to contact Niantic through the support website themselves. Players cannot act on their behalf.
Unfortunately, Niantic has ignored the bases several requests, hence the escalation to the forums.
If you read the original post, the initial ingress removal request was made following a contact from the base asking for help to remove the portals. I don't get why you and Garry are assuming that the base hasn't requested it when it is clearly stated several times that they have. Given that it is a **military base** it would not be appropriate for exactly who at the base approached ZombieSazza to be identified on a public forum
It doesn't matter, the base's command has to persue the issue with Niantic. Niantic will ignore all requests by players who claim to be acting as intermediaries.
