Memorial bench on university campus got rejected

Anyone got ideas about why this was rejected? Its a memorial bench on a university Campus with so much space around for people to play PoGo. There is quite a lot of players and very few pokestops so we are trying hard to get some more on the campus.

Under the Criteria 3.1, memorial benches are not eligible unless there is something particular about the memorial itself. Even under the previous criteria, memorial benches where only eligable if it was for a significant or historic person in the community. This is sadly very subjective.
Also it mostly depends on the information given in the submission, the verifiability of the location and the quality of the picture.
Could you provide detailed information on this nomination? Including your description, supporting photo and description, and its location. Also, provide the rejection reason in the email if there is any.
Maybe I overlooked what you're referring to in Criteria 3.1 but I don't recall seeing anything about memorial benches on it.
It could pass, if sold well enough, I'd take a closer picture, with the bench filling the photo, research who the dedication is for and provide some detail as to their contribution to the area.
There is a chance the University has a bench on the grounds for every former employee who has died, in which case these would not be eligible, if however this was a person of particular noteworthness, then it could be ok, but it's the submitters job to sell it to reviewers.
Memorial benches mentioned here. Niantic really need to tidy stuff up and produce a single update list of "Currently valid AMA responses".
Previous AMA, answers in forums or anywhere else are overridden by the new Criteria

Yes, and no, as comments from Niantic mods have referenced "per-3.1 AMA replies" since 3.1 was released. I've asked them to clarify this point a couple of times as I've had no reply.
A few members on here said that footbridges are no longer acceptable via Criteria 3.1 but there isn't anything regarding them on there. Do you know if they're still acceptable or not?
In general, the AMAs were never considered to be "rules", they were clarifications about how Niantic expected us to follow their given rules. And were usually only asked when "common sense" wasn't enough. As for the pedestrian bridges that were formerly clarified, they
and as such, can certainly still qualify even under the NEW 3.1+ Criteria.
