In the old AMA, it was written that a monument and a sign for it could be two different waypoints. Is it still the case?
siempre y cuando esten a 40 metros de distancia entre si
What kind of sign?
Just a directional sign "There's the community center"?
That has zero value
No, a sign would be marked as a duplicate. Also, criteria questions from AMAs before November are to be ignored. Definisions, however, such as the meanings of private residential property, public access, pedestrian access, however, remain.
If its an information sign, like a community notice board, or history for the community center, something of that nature, then its fine, if its just a welcome sign for the community center, duplicate
I agree with @gazzas89-PGO, the sign would need to have something that distinguishes it from the community center. If it's just the name or a welcome sign, I would say that they're duplicates of one another as @TheFarix-PGO said.
The other alternative for getting a "sign" accepted is if it has its own uniquely artistic merit.
Something else to be added to the next AMA please - indexed so we can find it.
Should the sign for a Wayspot nomination be marked as a duplicate if there is already a Wayspot for the object the sign represents?
If the sign is a significant distance from the object then it should be considered on its own. If it is close, such as with a church sign and a nearby church building, then it should be marked as a duplicate.
Just because it isn't listed under the "one true source" doesn't mean it isn't published.
Thank you, it's what I thought, but I have a friend whose convinced both could work. I could not see it happening
yes but let me explain. First make sure the sign has already been excepted, go back and edit it as "name of place" sign. Than mark "name of place". Example: First baptist church is marked at the sign, I change it to First Baptist church sign, than I can mark the church itself. Just do not let the same name be given. Most signs are fancy and follow the guidelines.
Under current criteria, I’m hard pressed to recommend approval for any signs since they point to the place, but are not the place. What are your thoughts on this?
update: I just started a new thread regarding signs, so disregard this comment here.
