If you read it clearly, it means that:
* an entrance to a hospital - ineligible
* a hospital waiting room - ineligible
* a hospital's main lobby - ineligible
* etc would mean operating rooms, nurses stations, toilets, and so on.
As I stated in one of my comments earlier, both of my wayspots at the hospital I sent to for chemotherapy are none of the above. They are their own separate items, one of which is safely accessible on the grounds and the other is safely accessible in a communal area.
Anyway, clearly as none of us can come to any sort of agreement, @NianticCasey-ING, could you give clarification on this? I feel this thread is going to descend into another "lively discussion".
Yes, it's in the hospital. No, that does not make it ineligible as it is in a communal area where there is a café. The communal area is not a waiting room.
I'm saying this once because you're trying to derail the thread. People disagreeing with you is not attacking you. People pointing out that you've misinterpreted criteria is not attacking you. People pointing out that you're cherry picking and twisting words around is not attacking.
If you feel so strongly that people are attacking you, do not respond to them.
Also nobody is "working together". People are capable of independent thought and disagreeing with the mass of misinformation you and your alt account post on every thread all by ourselves.
AMA question even confirming Hospitals are off limits.
December 11th 2017
Q16: I have two questions regarding portals. While I can see the value of having parks, churches, monuments, etc. as viable portals, I find myself puzzled by the inclusion of playgrounds. The minimum age is 13 and it would seem the majority of the playerbase is well over that. As someone who has been questioned by suspicious mothers at playgrounds (why is that strange lone man hanging around a playground with a camera?) and I would rather be questioned by the cops than have that happen again. Since schools are not allowed as portals (presumably because Niantic does not want strangers hanging around schools), why are playgrounds? Second, why are portals on military bases considered viable? Hospitals, firehouses, and other emergency services are considered off limits, so why should military bases, and other restricted government facilities be considered acceptable?
A16: Playgrounds that are within a park or a community gathering area are acceptable candidates. They fall under the criteria of public spaces that encourage walking and exercise. Currently, our policy is that Portals on Military bases should be given a one-star rating.
What have playgrounds and military bases got to do with anything?
Read the whole question. "Hospitals, firehouses, and other emergency services are considered off limits," Easy to see since 2017 even in AMA's that Hospitals were never allowed indoor submissions.
Hospitals, firehouses, and other emergency services are considered off limits. Here is examples of you suggesting Hospitals are allowed indoor submissions.
You're taking an AMA question from over 2 years ago, where only the OP mentioned hospitals and Niantic confirmed nothing about them in their answer, to argue against the most recent guidance?
Alrighty then.
Candidate Action Guide isn't available to share. Which had it listed as a 1 star rejection. You wanted to see something that was decided. That is a player who was aware of the Candidate Action Guide and Hospitals being rejected. It gives references to Hospitals being off limits and not being allowed even 3 years ago.
I actually have a copy of the old candidate action guide here if anyone wants it. Wish I had a PDF version :c

The guidelines on many things have changed over the years, such as gravestones and hospitals. Even the wording on the candidate action guides would sometimes change. All we can do is go off the most current guidance Niantic gives us, which I won't post again because I don't want to spam and if you're choosing to misinterpret it that's your issue. Pulling up unrelated AMAs from years ago about playgrounds which vaguely mention hospitals isn't relevant.
You're welcome! Always happy to help.
Please share where Hospitals have changed. All guidance shows they have never changed their stance. Vague mention. "Hospitals are off limits" is really not vague even from 3 years ago from an agent who played actively then. Candidate action guide is really not vague with in hospitals and inside of hospitals should be rejected. But please prove me wrong and provide some Niantic guidance that says to accept and I will change my stance if @NianticCasey-ING changes their stance from 3 weeks ago. If you have such evidence it should be shared to help Nianticcasey possibly change her opinion. From what I have seen K-12 they wouldn't budge on so good luck with getting Hospitals changed.
I would suggest putting it in the Candidate Action Guide thread already started on the forum. So it is easier to refer people.
You can if you want. Niantic's already reworded a lot of the criteria claims on it especially with the October and January updates so I think it's a bit outdated IMO.
I have a question that falls into a similar category as this thread seems to be addressing that I just wanted a little clarification on/educated opinions on.
I recently saw a Police Station sign nomination in voting. I was going to rate it ineligible, but upon further investigation, it appeared to be a street-side sign, next to a sidewalk and at the parking lot entrance, with plenty of space for people to gather without necessarily interfering with emergency services.
Should I still have one starred it, or do you think this was an exception that proves the rule?
You've been shown the guidelines several times by many people on this thread. Not wasting energy repeating myself anymore for you to ignore what the majority are telling you.
I see it as:
The hospital building, anything inside, parts of the building = 1*
Things outside, but still on the hospital external area or close enought = eligible if do not interfere with its operations.
The things Casey listed werenhings that wouldnt get accepted anyway, so my guess is if it wouldnt already get accepted anywhere else then It wouldnt be acceptable in a hospital, but no where does it say nothing in a hospital is acceptable, if that was the case, she wouldnt have listed anything, she would have said "hospitals and everything inside them is ineligable" so in my opinion, and this is probably the fairest way of looking g at it, if it's inside, in a communal area that allows the and doesn't block any doors or entrances, and its somethi g that would be acceptable normally (mini park, mural, architecture, statue) then that should be judged as it would anywhere else. If it was in a Ward, or in the way of emergency services etc. Then no matter what it is it should be rejected hen, though I doubt anything like a mural or statue would be in wards or emergency departments anyway
Original photo for the decision by casey was a playground inside of the childrens hospital. All stuff inside is a no at hospitals.
No, the wording was specific on whatbwasnt allowed. Simple fact, if nothing inside a hospital was allowed, she would have said "hospitals and things inside it are inelligible", she woulsbt have listed, she wouldnt have given examples, it would have been a blanket ban. Just like when it comes to schools, that's a straight up blanket ban there was no listings on what wasnt eligible on a school, the ban was nothing on or attached to a school. Theres is no room for debate with schools, so the fact they dodnt blanket ban hospitals like they have schools shows that certain things are allowed
"Ineligible: the front door to the hospital / main lobby / waiting room / etc. IF it would interfere with operation of emergency services, especially emergency service vehicles."
How is this so hard for people to understand? It clearly reads that those areas of the hospital are ineligible IF they interfere with emergency services.
In other words if they don't interfere with emergency services, then they are eligible.
I can even say it backwards and the interpretation still hasn't changed.:
IF it would interfere with operation of emergency services, especially emergency service vehicles, the front door to the hospital / main lobby / waiting room / etc. would all be ineligible.
