failing test twice

this might be more of a question then a discussion, failed twice and can't try again anyway to make it that people can do it more then 2 fails, with people getting a badge for this they can't even get 1 if they have failed lots of times

Sady, there is no 3rd chance as long as Niantic doesnt decide to give a 3rd one. So you are out for the next time.
When in life should you ever “wing-it” on a test 🙄. Should of read the criteria before hand and maybe after you failed the first time.
I did read it but with them giving badges in the game they should allow people to keep trying until they get it right if they can't do that they need to change it around more for people to maybe understand it more
Nobody is disagreeing with you on the fact that it is confusing! For example I don't understand why there are hundreds of things at Disneyland, but when I was reviewing something at a local amusement park someone who has been reviewing a while told me that is a generic business and does not qualify. So why does Disney qualify and not the local amusement park? Also some things were approved in the past, but don't try it today! For example I see state government buildings with pokestops so I tried to submit two others and both were denied for generic business. I also see many community entry signs as pokestops, but today they are supposed to be denied. There are parks full of waypoints at tree memorials for people who just had to donate a small amount of money to get their loved ones names on a plaque next to a tree, today they don't qualify. In the past cemetery submissions were approved - not today! It is very confusing and I have reviewed almost 4,000 submissions!
I know people who started reviewing just to get the medal and they got very frustrated and quit. They see things that are pokestops and they submit what they think is the same thing, but their submission gets denied. They are submitting a "view" of a greenbelt because they think a picture of a park qualifies since every park has pokestops. They submit the entrance name sign to their apartment complex because they see those in game. They submit things on single family residential property because they have no idea Niantic was sued and lost and changed the rules. One guy I know has actually yelled at me because I deny submissions. He believes that if it is submitted it should be approved. Of all the people I know who started reviewing for the medal, only 1 continued. He is a "must have more gold gyms than anyone" player and I was able to convince him that he could add gyms (and he has added several).
And then there is the guy in Vegas who submits numbers painted on concrete and cell phone towers that are in the shape of a palm tree because he thinks if he can get a pokestop in every cell at the park by his house then Niantic will host an event in his park. He gets an amazing amount of **** through too.
Sorry, but the test is extremely easy, or at least it was when I took it a bit more than a year ago. (I don't know if it was updated recently, but I doubt that they made it substantially harder.)
If you failed it twice, it's on you.
The test is quite straightforward, yes, but I don't remember it being publicised prior to me taking it that you only get 2 tries, ever! I'm not sure I knew the stakes when I took it! So people might not know untill it's too late, and might have been tempted to wing it thinking they could re try.
I think it should have been a screen at the start of the test stating if you fail twice, you forever lose the chance to review and may miss out on in game badges, rewards, and other benefits in future. That would make sure people understood that they need to make their best effort first time on the test and do lots of reading beforehand.
In my opinion no they shouldnt allow people to take the test until they can pass. If you fail twice. Tough luck! If you can’t pass the very basic test on wayfairer you shouldnt be reviewing any nominations as you have no idea what the criteria is and you would needlessly reject perfectly fine submissions or try to accept submissions that should never be accepted. This is probably the only way niantic has kept people out of reviewing that review for the wrong intentions (ie the medal). There would be so many players that would 1* nominations to get there quick medal then stop. Not needed ever.
You can take your driving test an unlimited number of times in this country.... I think the stakes on getting that wrong are a little higher than wayfarer, but somehow that is managed.
Also the medal is for agreements while having a decent rating, so that's quite hard to abuse.
Driving tests are significantly harder than the Wayfarer exam, though.
I am all for extending the number of attempts, but in that case I think the test should be much harder as well.
You also pay for the drivers test where this is by volunteer basis. I’m sure the way niantic sees it is if you can’t pass the very basic test to use the reviewing system your vote would probably not be worth much to begin with examples would be passing things that clearly dont meet criteria and/or rejecting things that do. This is after all for a data base that niantic may sell one day so its there choice 🤷♂️
It is also not hard to tank nominations with random rejections to get easy agreements. Thats what they would most likely do.
Honestly, I've seen so many people who submit horrible nominations, accept things they should reject, and reject things they should accepted (the same people do all three), that I don't think the test serves much of a purpose. These people pass the test, but as soon as they do, immediately start doing whatever they want, but somehow they still get to review and submit. These people are able to pass the test because they know the rules, they just don't follow them in order to get stops and gyms where they want it. There is also rampant abuse by many local so called "experts," who fake photos, move pins off the POIs, delete POIs because it became a gym, retaliate against Wayfarers following the rules, and encourage others to do the same. When reported Niantic takes no action.
Wait why would someone want to delete a POI because it became a gym?
When I took the test, which was admittedly 4.5 years ago, it was made quite clear that there were only two tries allowed. Fortunately the test was quite easy if you reviewed the criteria first.
Because they didn't like that they couldn't reach it from a car. They deleted it so another stop could become a gym.
I guess I could see that since I had a conversation with an Ingress player who said he denied anything he couldn't personally get to, so if it was in a gated community he denied it for no pedestrian access.
No, it was on a street, with easy pedestrian access. You just couldn't park in front of it.
The park by my house has POI all over in the area that is easily accessible. The area you would need to walk a far distance or take a bike/scooter has absolutely nothing! I am working on it but at the rate I get nominations it could take years. Those players who want every gym gold won't like me too much but for those of us who like to walk/ride our bikes around the park it will be easy gold for us. I think I may be able to get at least 5 new gyms in the park.
You can skip the badge! The badge itself doesn't came with other rewards, unlike other badges.
..although, you only need it for Platinum badge requirements in order to get up to level 45, 47 (and maybe another requirements to level 49 or 50).
I don't think it's easy any longer. Maybe it was in the beginning but the questions changed.
I just took it during the Russia event and it was still very easy. My mom took it last year and said A bunch (if not all) of the images were the same.
It has evolved over time. It is more difficult than it was at the beginning.
As with every test you ever did at school: study first, don't blame the teacher for asking questions that are clearly covered in the curriculum...
Having candidate Wayfarers do the test over and over until they get it right is not a good idea: people don't learn criteria by trial-and-error. They are way too complex for that. If you don't even want to put in a little bit of effort by studying a bit first, you probably aren't the best addition to the Wayfarer review team...
Things inside cemeteries are eligible as long as they are of historical significance and cultural significance. Has public access and of note worthy members of the community. Such as historical gravestones. Although not the entrance gates. Or a random grave with no cultural significance. The “sensitive location” reason is also a load of rubbish in my opinion. Local amusement parks are a place to explore and be social with others not generic businesses. The generic business rejection no longer exists and good riddance.
I would be happy with an additional single attempt every year. This would benefit those truly interested in reviewing, while not making that ability an entitlement. We do need more skilled reviewers, but we also need to accept the fact that people can learn and grow.
There are medals that I'll never get, either: event medals for sponsored events, for instance. I'm not gonna change my carrier to get a medal, but I'm also not going to ask Niantic to extend that medal to the world at large. The Wayfarer and Recon medals are not mandatory: any dedicated trainer/agent can get enough high-level medals to level up without it.
The test is not difficult.
Yes, I think so,.too. no doubt.
But Niantic should write about the penalty more clearly.
Then, examinees will take the test more carefully.
I think Niantic should improve the way of showing information about Wayfarer in many points.
