What will be eligible to submit as a POI next?

I had an idea & thought that it would be great for the entire community to discuss in general. What do you think should be eligible to be nominated or be considered eligible to be submitted as a POI? Feel free to share this elsewhere if needed. Post your ideas here

Malls/Shopping centers are things I think would be fine, but it seems like most people are against them.
It would definitely be interesting if we could add some new category based on who we have determined are "essential workers and businesses" during the pandemic. Not anything that could harm emergency services, but something like grocery stores and food markets. These places are essential to the community so should we recognize that?
I'd also like to see more acceptance of places that work to help the community. Like, recycling centers or thrift stores.
An explicit OK for Malls and Shopping Centers would be good, as well as landmark shopping districts. My city has several of them that are officially designated as "open air commercial centers" and display city signs that would be good anchors for a wayspot. I also like the idea of recycling centers being elegible.
Then there are some things that I'm not sure they exist in other places and I think fall under "community centers" but would be good to see encouraged as nominations. First are Senior Citizens Centers (Centros de Jubilados). Here in Argentina they're like clubs were Senior Citizens meet and generally have activities for them such as gym classes or tourist trips. Then the Neighborhood Associations (Sociedades de Fomento) which typically form when new neighborhoods are developed to petition to the government for improvements on the neighborhood. They are the places where you can find out about the history of the neighborhood, which is the reason why I think are elegible.
I'm not quite sure what this thread is asking. Is this for discussion of expanding the guidelines beyond the Exploration/Exercise/Social criteria? Or is it just for discussing where clarification is desired regarding things that are believed to meet the existing criteria?
In my area of the US, we definitely have those kinds of Senior Citizens clubs. I have no problem submitting and approving them. They are different from places where senior citizens go to live if the family can't care for them in their homes, though. Those kinds of places are on the rise in my area. They may have POI that are eligible like gazebos or statues, but as a whole, they don't quite qualify. But the places that run day programs for socialization of seniors are really great POI, in my opinion.
We don't have anything like the neighborhood thing you're talking about. Many of our neighborhoods have associations but those don't have a physical location in the neighborhood. Many neighborhoods have clubhouses or pools or tennis courts or playgrounds that might qualify as POI, but not the "association" itself. That's where local customs come into play. So if that's a common thing where you are, I would try to nominate one and give a good description for why you think it meets criteria.
Survey (geodetic/gps) markers and community notice boards. Even tough they were eligible before, they were rarely acceptable (mostly because the AMAs were old). And with the new update critetia it's hard to fit them somewhere.
@flatmatt-PGO Im just looking for everyone to come together & possibly just create a list of what they think should be acceptable that way everyone can clear their mind & we can see perspectives from all sides on what we believe should meet criteria. I hope that we can come together & get some answers. I also don’t want anyone to argue against anyone. I just want everyone to express what they personally want to see become eligible criteria. Hopefully we can come together & come up with some ideas together to clear up those grey areas. Because there are some, a thread like this will only help Niantic see what we think as a group together without arguing against one another or disliking each other’s comments. I’d rather just see others like each other’s comments & help one another out. It’s what we’re here for; to improve gameplay to the fullest in every way that we have the authority to
Creek signs. I'm so tired of these getting rejected in my community. They fall under "Nature Signs," but reviewers keep kicking them back to me as "not accepted." It's annoying. I certainly hope Niantic/Wayfarer find a way to fix this.
Those were never eligible.
They are a nature sign. Therefore, eligible.
No they are not.
Lets agree to disagree for the sake of the community please guys. I’d just like for Niantic to see a list of what we could potentially present to them as a does this meet criteria, does this not meet criteria list later on. It only helps us all later on down the road. I appreciate your comments I just don’t want to cover up any potential good ideas
In theory that's what the Criteria clarification section is for.
You can check how many times Niantic has bothered to reply to any of those threads.
@WheelTrekker-ING True but it’s worth a shot, although it’s a long one. They see everything we do & definitely take it all into consideration
Honestly, I would like to see restaurants more the norm with clear criteria and grafitti that tries to bypass an otherwise ineligible business passed.
I would be open minded to accept gyms even if they are part of a big chains(I currently only accept local ones) due to the fact they are a good place for exercise and for some people social gatherings.
Moving on from the creek signs issue, I'd also like to see community pools be openly allowed. Why those aren't allowed, yet generic baseball fields of all kinds are allowed is beyond me. Pools inspire gatherings and athleticism just like baseball fields do. (Of course private residence pools would be excluded from being acceptable.)
Agree and I approve them in my area.
Grandstands and bleachers at parks and sports complexes.
Their location is almost always permanent on the edge of their respect sports field or court, and even when they arent physically attached to the ground, they are extremely unlikely to be moved for an extended period of time, unlike a picnic table. They are just as much of a gathering place or "a place to be social" as a pavilion or gazebo, arguably even more so.
I would classs these as duplicates of the field, much like the scoreboard would be a duplicate of the field.
Whatever it is , something with a bit of class please. I know most of the "good stuff" is already in game and we don't often get to see a nice artwork or sculpture or building, but please, something worthwhile.
Todays reviewing is proceeding along with the usual mix of coal, spam and ineligable items - postbox (1*), soccer goalpost (3*), public footpath marker (1*), road sign (1*), EiiR Postbox (1*), EiiR Postbox (1*), edit to move pin 2 m for no reason, edit to correct spelling mistake in text while still leaving other errors, Another EiiR postbox (1*), playground (5*), another footpath marker (1*), another footpath marker (1*). pub (duplicate), excerise equipment (duplicate)........
@sogNinjaman-ING Im the same way. I completely understand. I’d love to see something different for a change
What we want to be eligible doesn't matter.
The criteria are whatever Niantic decides would be valuable to include in their database.
As uses we should have no say in the matter.
I have to disagree because we do have a say. If Niantic sees a good idea that possibly somehow hasn’t been mentioned or even see enough comments about a specific type of criteria they may clarify & decide that the criteria in question is now acceptable or even tell us specifically that it isn’t acceptable. It all depends. We all have an opinion & that’s your opinion but as wayfarers we are here to make the platform the best that it can be. This is just another one of those steps to try to help make it better for all of us in any way that we can. As users we are here to have a say in this matter if you think about it. They clarify about criteria only after enough of us admit that certain criteria should be eligible & when specifically asked so discussions like this only makes all of us better wayfarers in the long run. A lot of times we have decided as a community & asked Niantic if criteria was acceptable & it has been added to the AMA l. I recommend everyone to check out the current AMA who hasn’t. It will help you better understand what to submit, it always helps me to read it
Maybe approach this question from a different angle. We already have:
What would you add to that list?
they are ALREADY ELIGIBLE as stated multiple times by Niantic staff. People on this forum have been obstructive but I personally value the word of Niantic over that of some random person.
• A place to help your community
Different kind of organizations that do volunteer work, ranging from the local office of the Red Cross to a pet rescue shelter or a recycling center.
I love those first two examples. I think the one that is stumping people is the recycling center @Lechu1730-PGO
If "Recycling Centre" was an accepted reason, we would see a flood of bottle banks and old clothes recycling bins arriving for review. Lets try to keep it classy, at least in part.
@sogNinjaman-ING my comment was meant to agree with you. I don’t think those should be acceptable either. I do like @Lechu1730-PGO other two examples though. Red Cross as they do a lot of good & they deserve POI & animal shelters as well although they’re not my ideal hangout place some do have spots just for hanging out & playing with the animals. your comment had Ron Burgundy vibes; either way. I like it
