Could you please tell me why this perfect portal was today removed?
It was 10th very good, interesting and save portal removed in area in last two weeks. Resistance team tries to removed all portals frequently used by green players in our area.
Do you have any idea how to prevent such destructive actions for the game?
Comments
because it has no save pedestrian access. There need to be a pedestrian pathway leading to it.
Portal details:
Kapliczka Św. Anny w Brzeziu k (Intel)
94, 32-014 Brzezie, Poland
Coords:
49.983693,20.241569
It has to be path with mud? Access though green meadow is not enough? And really please it is safest place in the world!
Not directly. There is a street (not save), a dig (not a pedestian pathway) and the object on a little mountain. Not a really save acces at all.
40 cm high mountain :). Please take it seriously as this is serious game problem.
I do aswell as Niantic. I am arguing with the official Niantic rules^^
It is safe small country road. Please take a look on two children walking there: "https://www.google.com/maps/@49.9836237,20.2413871,3a,87.7y,87.39h,97.54t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s4-ZyWLE7ft4rlKWrjC_PXg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656"
Normally I'm pretty strict when it comes to safe access, but this seema very clearly safely accessible to me. That dirt road looks perfectly safe for pedestrians and the hill the PoI stands on is not a true obstacle either.
I mean, if we consider objects on actual mountaintops safely accessible, as well as stuff on narrow hiking trails, we can't really argue that this one is unsafe.
This looks to me like it has okay pedestrian access. Not perfect, but good enough. However, I see crops behind it, so it may have been removed for being on private farmland or due to a complaint from the owner of the land.
Please believe me this is not "private farmland or due to a complaint from the owner of the land." I just checked on "geoportal" ground around portal is part of communal road.
How can I get official Niantic reason for this portal removal?
nowhere. You can appeal a recreation of the POI arguing about the save pedestrian access. For this, do an appeal in the "invalid Wayspot appeals" category. You wont get more than a copy/paste answer, but you will get an answer.
you are very harsh here @LukeAllStars-PGO
If you rate that way, i hope you wont rate my submissions.
Haha I am normally not harsh, but if Niantic is, I am only explaining why they removed it. I wouldnt be that harsh personally. But I can understand Niantic.
You won't, but as mentioned by lukeallstars you can try to appeal the decision in the Invalid Wayspot appeals.
Few tips
Look at earlier appeals to see what kind of appeals actually get accepted.
Propable reasons for removal are safe passage and POI being on private farm land. Try to counter those with hard evidence, just writing "it's on communal land" won't propably be enough.
Good luck.
You shouldn't talk in name of Niantic. Sometimes they have allowed some wayspots to remain despite clear evidence that they are dangerous, and other times they remove things that no one can understand why they have done so.
It's OK to give advice and try to explain why you think that Niantic might have removed it, but keep in mind that in many places there are people submitting removals with fake claims.
thats true, but I think thats obvious that I am not talking for Nia, only trying the explain why the might have done ...... . Maybe I should do it more clear, thats true.
He’s not harsh. He’s realistic. Generally he has probably the most proper answers i find in this forum. Tp me i don’t see clear access and that would be why it could be removed.
@LukeAllStars-PGO is just stating the thought on why Niantic removed it, not the hard facts that we users see. It's Niantic's rules that sometimes messes things up. I'm pretty sure that the POI in question can be easily restored, or pass Wayfarer pretty quick.
I'd like to point out to people saying this has poor access that this is exactly why reviews are up to the locals. Local customs on where it is safe to walk vary wildly from place to place. We shouldn't push our own customs on others where it is completely different.
In this case the fact that there are literally two people walking safely on that road in the street view linked tells me this has good pedestrian access for this country. Also, concepts of access vary greatly between rural and urban areas even within the same country.
"Not directly. There is a street (not save), a dig (not a pedestian pathway) and the object on a little mountain. Not a really save acces at all."
That above is not a realistic assessment. More like an example of not understanding what is safe passage in rural area.
Edit; screenshots from streetview.
Big road
Crossroads with smaller road
People walk along the road in front of my house all the time. But that doesn't mean that anything along that road has pedestrian access. Those walking along the road are doing so at their own risk.
For the curious (like myself) about Niantic decision.

you just have to separate between something having pedestrian access by a separate path and streets in the countryside.
There are villages here in Germany that even do not have a walking path for pedestrians, because there is just none. People are using the street.
I do know Luke from here and i do respect him very much, i think he is one of the best people here. I already told him that he should go out more in the woods, clearly he hasnt been to the countryside much
"because it has no save pedestrian access. There need to be a pedestrian pathway leading to it." - That is something that could be said for Towns and Cities, but please do not say things like this when Germany has 85% of the wayspots in rural places.

Haha I remember xD

My thought was, that Niantic doesnt have "extra" rules for rural areas since all POIs are treated with the same kind of criteria.
I am always a bit more critical. I can understand both sites, thats normal. Since Niantic isnt comunicating about the reasons they remove POIs, there are limited possible reasons. I dont always share the same opinion as Niantic, but I can somehow understand their thoughts.
I hope no one here is suggesting it is totally OK to park and play in someone's drive or in ongoing traffic in small villages where the paved roads are narrow and there's a water dyke only and property drives. The screen below is another example of Polish village reality. I guess not many would park in the place which I marked with an arrow and block the property entrance even for a short time not to mention parking somewhere else and walking by the side of the road all the way to this Wayspot. In the case that Gajowy75-ING is arguing the only remarkable difference is the length of the drive which still is according to official government documents part of their property.
This is not car game :). Use bike, use foots.
If this road were so dangerous all local people would be dead already :)
Most likely on daily basis children walk there to school :) In spring elderly will stand there and pray.
Biggest unknown for me is why all of you put so much time and energy to remove all portals in my area?
Portals that were there for since beginning of this game. Now when I start to play all became so dangerous and so private. It is so unfair and so childish.
Most likely after encountering such hostility I and some other players will just stop playing. Is that your goal? You want to play alone?
Whether it's okay to park at the PoI is completely irrelevant. The criteria is to have safe pedestrian access, which in this case is obviously there.
"In spring elderly will stand there and pray." (Gajowy75-ING)
And a crew raiding the Legendary will disturb the peace and quiet of the prayer, thus harassing those practising the Roman catholic rituals. How thoughtful. "Stay aware of your surroundings" the loading screen of one of the games says.
"Portals that were there for since beginning of this game" (Gajowy75-ING) (sic!)
What? Places of worship have been considered perfect 5* nominations for as long as I remember.
Besides, are you trying to suggest that the only acceptable locations to play the game are where there's literally no way you could disturb anyone? Because that would narrow it doen to empty fields in the middle of nowhere. But than again, you would probably consider those places as not safely accessible, so there's that.
Your comments here are at best ignorant, at worst malicious.
