Here is Casey's comment on page 1. So page 4 people can read easier. "Outdoor community notice boards are allowed."

Hey folks, I'm in agreement with @AdamSkot-PGO@adetia9-PGO here. Freestanding, outdoor community notice boards seem to me to fall within the 'community gathering' criteria, but a noticeboard within a supermarket doesn't seem to be as notable a location for gathering or distinguishable from the rest of the market.
I do see what @grendelwulf-ING is saying in that POIs should be unique and interesting, but agree with @Theisman-ING that not everything is interesting to everyone. We shouldn't be reviewing as if we were writing a vacation guide 😉
Here is the noticeboard. That people have been discussing the last 2.5 pages.
January 2019 AMA question and answer.
Q25: In the UK we have "Community Notice Boards" in residential areas, often maintained by the parish or district council or the residents' association. I think these make good portals but that's a heavily debated topic on the OPR chat and about half the notice boards I submit get approved. Does NIA think these are eligible to become portals?
A25: They do hold the function of being community gathering places. But like many things, it is likely to be very situational. They should follow the same guidelines as the Little Free Libraries.
It’s not a noticeboard it’s a sign.
If the main photo had the COVID-19 notice it would be instantly rejected and deemed abuse. So you get the pretty American Legion screen.
That's not a noticeboard, you can call it a sign or even an advertisement but in no way that's a community board.
There's no community there, you're trying to twist the guidelines and responses provided by Niantic, you're wasting the time of everybody.
And that's not a valid candidate.
So now we are back on topic this is a notice board inside a supermarket even with casey saying is eligible it still gets rejected everytime it goes in. So people are definitely not keeping updated with this forum.
I didn't think Casey had said they were eligible inside supermarkets?
This is what Casey said: "but a noticeboard within a supermarket doesn't seem to be as notable a location for gathering or distinguishable from the rest of the market." https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/comment/2443/#Comment_2443
So:
Thank you. I knew I was right in thinking that Casey had said "not eligible" to supermarket noticeboards.
I just didn't want to wade through the recent comments to find it since the discussion is getting out of hand again.
It doesn't matter if it's a "cheap wooden" one or a "mutli-thousand dollar" one, if it meets criteria, it's acceptable.
The one you posted above looks more like an electronic billboard rather than an actual community noticeboard.
Anyway, this discussion ended a long time ago when Casey gave their clarification. There is a new thread about digital ones you can post in.
No, that's not a community board. That's a sign/advertisement for "The American legion".
It doesn't matter the material, you can't keep on calling that a community board.
I can call something by what it is all I want. Because that is my right. It is a notice board in my community, a digital notice board.
If it had my surgery time on ot today it would be a notice board. It having covid19 information makes it a notice board. It is used by American Legion to get information out to the community to veterans. That is the definition of a community notice board. Materials of what a wayspot is made of doesn't matter in the end. A playground made out of wood is still a playground even if it is made of steel and plastic.
A playground made out of wood is still a playground even if it is made of steel and plastic.
I mean, if a playground was made out of steel and plastic, I wouldn't be saying it was made out of wood. Perhaps I would say it was made of a combination of materials including some composites, but saying a playground was made out of wood when it's made from steel and plastic would probably lose you a few stars on the Title and Description Rating.
Saying materials don't matter is valid they do not. It is still a playground. The visual unique doesn't lose points because of it being wood or metal. It loses points because others are similar locally, like a park with a bunch of baseball fields only.
Going way off topic now, guys.
Topic originally was supermarket notceboards. Casey created community notceboards in the response. I suggested digital notceboards because they are a thing. How is materials of allowable way spots not allowed to be discussed? It was already in this discussion.
It's off topic because you're discussing the materials of playgrounds now, which has absolutely nothing to do with my original question.
@NianticCasey-ING gave an answer, so really the discussion should be over.
Casey did comment in the below post from another thread about digital community notice boards
So while digital notice board for community events do certainly fall within criteria, you'd have to make sure it wasn't one that just specifically for that business or for businesses inside a plaza/mall area.
It's an analogy.
Thanks for the cross share, @GearGlider-PGO, really it sounds like the debate is over.
A map of the map for a mall is a digital community noticeboard that isn't just for a business it is for multiple business and is used by the community as a gathering spot. (A true valued use that will be abused by reviewers as a generic business.)
And american legion could of been answered because it was posted in that thread and here. As ridiculous as my locals are they will still use generic business for everything as usual when there is clear guidance and criteria to accept. It happen on 13 different things today on valid submissions plus I had surgery today so I'm frustrated being stuck in a hospital. 13 submissions abused by reviewers. And it's only getting worse.
I doubt it's abuse by reviewers. It could be a case of people not understanding the criteria clearly or the way a submission is worded.
Just because you feel that a submission is worthy doesn't mean everyone else will, nor does it mean it's abuse if they vote to reject something.
Actually it is clearly abuse. Each submission marked as "Abuse" even when it is valid. Historic buildings, 3 mall stuff, 3 things that are art, 4 bars/restaurants that are in a travel guide.
If you have time, could you post a few examples of these? Feel free to edit out actual locations if you want to keep them hidden. But it might be constructive to see some of them and get feedback. Obviously, don't post them in this thread, though.
No thanks. I'm good. Have a good day.
