I'm curious about the religious building criteria you propose, since "Church" should already cover both of your proposed criteria.
Also, further separating the church criterion into more specific ones means delving into the various denominations in the world. In other words, if there is to be "Catholic Church", there should also be "Eastern Orthodox Church", "Anglican Church", "Baptist Church", etc.
What is the goal filling the "What's this?" question?
Why not just have “religious building” instead of having to name every single type of devotion.
also i dont see how 3/4 of the government buildings you listed are even eligible. Town hall yes the rest? Not really. The spot at the bottom is pretty well meaningless anyways so i wouldn’t worry too much about it
For Niantic, it's likely to help develop and train a machine learning system for nomination review, and this shows when you have to choose between 3 "What's this?" types instead of optionally selecting one.
Agree with the first paragraph, it's easier to say it is a religious building and be done with it, instead of separating it based on the hundreds of religions in the world.
I should rephrase that as "What's your goal?"
it's only a waste of time and given that there are many issues with that list it isn't useful at all, and their AI is really broken according to the suggestions
I see where you're coming from. Personally I've always done the "What's this?" just to increase review time.
Unless they actually do something to retain the "what is this?" value on the wayspot, and utilise it within the Niantic games, it is absolutely useless. Imagine having to compulsorily select a category on a wayspot, only to see an edit to it after being approved asking again "what is it?" That data has zero use for us.
I fully agree with you.
I often struggle with the Category - if the submission is a photo of the SIGN that says Rain Garden - is the category Garden OR Sign- Information or Sign- Nature. Sometimes it is an informational sign, that has a small map in the corner, so which is it? So many options
Just pick one it really doesnt matter
