S2 Cell & Hidden poi Hipocracy?

Why does pokemon go require S2 Cells but ingress and Harry Potter do not? I laugh 😆 🤣 every time I review a duplicate that is hidden from pokemon go players and I get rewarded with a EZ agreement. I guess the joke is on them. Hahaha

HPWU does filter certain POI from it's game based on cell proximity, just not as many as PoGO.
The most prominent reason given for filtering out POI is that certain areas would become too crowded with POI for Pokemon/Traces to spawn properly in PoGO/HPWU. YMMV on how much you agree with that, but it's the standard reason given.
What ever happened to equality, freedom and simplicity. I vote to remove s2 cells and restrictions to singled out games or apply them to all the games.
So only ingress players benefit from from the Hipocracy?
It was the system the both Niantic and The Pokemon Company agreed to when developing the game. It will require both parties to agree to a change in the density of stops/gyms. Niantic cannot unilaterally change it. Niantic and WB agreed to a different density algorithm, which CATAN GmbH also adopted. Ingress is Niantic's sole IP and they can adopt any level of Wayspot density they want.
So ingress Hipocracy? Correct
Ingress is the only game Niantic can do whatever they want with. Niantic doesn't have to get approval from someone else.
Niantic sells the companies access to their Niantic Real World Platform. After that, the companies decide on cell levels and such.
I think it would be helpful to show all nearby POI when a player is submitting, regardless of game, to help prevent duplicates.
So technically they are selling user submitted locations and making money off of someone else's hard work, without any type of reimbursement or share of profit$?
Why? Because it makes for a better game design. I know that MOAR STOPS is a common refrain and it seems like more is always better, but as someone who has played all three game extensively I can tell you that it isn't always the case. Also, HPWU does use S2 cells to limit density, though their cells are smaller than in PoGo.
Unlike in Pokemon Go and Wizards Unite there are no spawns in Ingress that you can tap on to interact with. You can drop gear on the ground, but that's a reasonably uncommon event. Even without spawns, Niantic has had to implement a "which of these things did you mean?" disambiguation screen in Ingress because it's often extremely difficult to tap on the right thing. Even without gear on the ground it can be difficult to tap the right portal in Ingress, but dropped gear can make it much more challenging. In fact, dropping a pile of worthless gear on someone's couch or desk portal is a common harassment tactic. It's been done to me countless times.
I happen to live in a wayspot-dense area and am spoiled by an abundance of riches, and thanks to that annoying pandemic thing I've had a lot of experience playing all three games from home. I'll post screenshots of my neighborhood as attachments so you can see what I'm talking about.
IngressVIew: This is what Ingress looks like in my little cluster. I occasionally tap the wrong portal or get the disambiguator at certain zoom levels but it isn't too bad.
IngressDisambiguator: This is what happens when you have an ambiguous tap in Ingress-- you get an interim disambiguation screen. In this case I deliberately dropped some stuff on the ground as a demonstration. The disambiguation screen is necessary but it's a pain in the ****. The challenging part is that not everything is there-- if I wanted to pick up the portal key that isn't in the list I'd have to try again, or I'd have to pick up other stuff and then try again.
PoGoView: This is what PoGo looks like. Notice that there's a Pokemon right under the stop. I can tell you from experience that I get the wrong thing constantly in situations like this. Also, there's a stop right behind the gym and I'm constantly getting that instead of the gym. Even with only a subset of the portals I find this area dense enough to be frustrating to play in.
HPWUView: In many ways this is similar to PoGo, but worse because there are traces spawning (similar to Pokemon spawns) and also items spawning on the ground. Things regularly spawn at the same location as inns, and the only way you can get the thing you want is to zoom way in and keep trying. I'm constantly getting an inn instead of a trace or vice versa, or picking up something from the ground when I was trying to get a trace or an inn, or...
I know it's frustrating to lose an opportunity in a sparse area due to Niantic's density rules, but Niantic has one global density rule for each game and they have to make tradeoffs between playability in sparse areas and in dense areas. One could argue about whether they've chosen the right level for the compromise, but they've also expanded the list of things eligible to be wayspots as a way of improving the games for players in sparser areas. I would personally prefer that playgrounds and similar things not be eligible but I understand and respect the reasons for making that decision... just as I understand and respect the reasons for having different density rules for each game.
You knew going in that you were volunteering for a crowd-source project with the primary benefit being that you were making your local area better for your game and any other game developed/published by Niantic. Beyond that, the only other credit is a small tag on the photo. If you want to be paid, then you shouldn't join a volunteer project.
I was never notified my photo would be sold for profit without any permission as to what it would be used for.
Actually you were in the Terms and Condtions which you agreed that tou had read when you first started playing the game (s)
The fact that you either didnt read them or didnt understand them is down to you, and in that case you shouldn't have blindy agreed.
I would like to review that
Feel free
checkout section 5
Specifically section 5.2, rights granted by you which states
By accepting these terms, you allow Niantic to benefit freely from the above rights, including but not limited to:
I am just saying a in-store purchase reward wouldn't hurt anyone.
I'm honestly not sure what your point has been this entire time.
Apart from those who dont do it you mean.
An in store purchase reward can make free games have a P2W mechanic, or in this case a Work2W mechanic.
Then you have the whole issue of value per submission and enter the legal quagmire of real world money services in exchange for work.
Items in store have a real money equivalent therefore a legal argument can be made that you're being paid by Niantic for work. Which sets of legal issues of pay etc.
There are reason things such as this are done in such a way that any "rewards" like badges are non purchasable items.
Bottom line is if you don't think the reward of improving the games you play and receiving in game badges etc is enough, then simply stop doing it.
Virtual items rewarded to the submitter. For helping build the infrastructure that is being sold for profit.
Let me try and explain again and break it down for you
Virtual items from the store have a real world money equivalent.
So you would be being paid in real money.
Without some form of offical/legal contract, that is a legal NO NO NO.
This is rather different from the initial question you were asking when you made this thread. Perhaps a different thread would be better if you wanted to discuss this topic.
Different games with different features.
Does it really matter which games adhere to S2 cell spacing and which don't?
From my understanding, and I could be wrong here, the portals from Ingress that don't make it across to PoGo just add in more spawn points. Not sure what effect they have on HPWU.
With these posts you're making, you're either deliberately trolling or just completely unaware of how the games functions differ from one another.
Well if it doesn't matter why not make s2 cells standard. That would be interesting.
Given the size of things on the in-game map on Pokémon Go, it would be ridiculously difficult to click on the right thing immediately.
At the end of the day, it's NIA's choice and how they distribute wayspots across their games.
As I've stated already, each game has different mechanics and functions to the others, so different spacing rules for the wayspots are going to happen.
Oh that would be so cool ingress in s2 cells.
At least two points in an S2 cell would already help those who play pokemon go
Wait what from what I understood only 1 poi will appear per cell?
There's speculation that multiple POI increase the number of Spawns in PoGO/HPWU games whenever they do spawn point updates, but YMMV on how true that is.
So as of now that's just hearsay? Thanks for the info though I did not know that. @GearGlider-PGO @MarioSGodoy87-PGO
Yup! Though when it was pointed out to me, I ended up noting quite a few small spawn clusters around empty spaces where ingress portals were. So, still hearsay, but it's from me!!!
I can confirm it by my own experience. Areas with more than a wayspot per cell have higher spawn rates.
