Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

I'm getting a few submissions for EV Charging Stations. These are easily identifiable, and encourage people to ditch gas guzzlers in favour of electric - but they're also mass-produced item with no distinguishing features.
How should these be reviewed?

My understanding is that Niantic has stated vehicle charging stations are not eligible.
@Stephyypooke-ING is correct - we've been given previous guidance that these are not eligible.
But, also, what criteria could they meet? I don't see them as a place that encourages social interaction, exercise, or exploration.
I have, once, reviewed educational signage about the effects electric cars have on reducing carbon emissions that was attached to a charging station. It was educational and more than strictly an advertisement. I reviewed that favorably.
1* - Doesn't meet critiera (aka Other Rejection Criteria) They simply don't fall under any of the three eligibility categories.
I belive EV charge stations should be made a poke stop... but the poke stop should be diverted 10 meters from real life location to defer players from parking in EV parking spots
On what grounds? As stated above, it doesn't appear to be eligible, and your argument to deliberately misplace them, means they are in an hindering location to begin with.
No, they don't fit any criteria, more than any gas pump anywhere. They're just infrastructure.
Ok, you make a valid point. Look I'm new to this and I know there's rules but I thought the reason for engaging on this platform was to give Niantic an idea of what the community is saying and there wants.... I only said I Think it should be made a poke stop. As a Suggestion or maybe be revised or review for change. The only reason why is because I would like to see more pokestops available in game.... What do you think? Should I go about my thoughts another way? I'm new to commenting on this platform so help me out.
i would read the criteria and under the help section on wayfarer it gives some ideas of what can and can’t be eligible. That would be a good start. Other than that a good idea is to never orientate your nominations off of existing pokestops or portals but off of the criteria instead. Also before nominating its good practice to check the ingress intel map to see if what you’re about to nominate is already in ingress or not to avoid getting duplicate rejections
It doesn't meet criteria
If this is allowed, gas stations should also be allowed.
@03AmazingK-PGO Presenting feedback to Niantic is certainly reasonable. I would recommend that for something like this you present it in the form of explaining which of their principles (great place to explore, great place to be social, great place for exercise) they would qualify under. I feel like the answer is none, but that doesn't stop you from making a case for one of those three. (I say that as someone who drives a plug-in vehicle.)
Remember that the underling principle of creating POIs is the I-- they should be interesting. If Niantic just wanted to blanket the world with wayspots they could just create a grid and place them 20 meters apart across the whole surface of the earth. That would completely destroy the exploration and discovery aspects of the games, and those aspects are what have me in my eighth year of somewhat obsessively playing Niantic's games. I love finding that exquisite mural tucked away in an alley, the really cool historical plaque, the little things in my neighborhood that I've seen a million times but never noticed.. those are what make the games worth playing. Building portals, returning traces, or throwing cartoon balls at cartoon monsters isn't the least bit interesting to me without the built-in exploration. I'm sure that's not true for everyone, but it is for a fair number of us.
Well if they really wanted to squeeze as many wayspots in as possible, they'd use hexagonal circle packing rather than a grid.
Edit: Although I guess they could make an isometric grid to use for that. I wonder if anyone has thought to implement a cell system like that instead of quadrilateral cells.
I have a question regarding this that is this not an exploration point? Considering it tells us about the communities we live in and I would like to add on that many things that exist in real world and maps as well as they aren't mass produced could become valid as per exploration.
@Prideofvalor1-PGO When I think of exploration points I think of something that is unique, artistic, cultural, unusual. Some of Niantic's examples are historic plaques, art/architecture, libraries, places of worship, zoos, museums, nature signs. I've used a lot of car chargers in the last few years and I can't think of any that would be the least bit interesting to me other than being in a convenient place when I need them. They're mass-produced, not a place you'd have any reason to go unless you wanted to feed juice into your vehicle, and basically just boring except when they're being both boring and annoying. They're already commonplace in many locations and will be much more common in the coming years.
Yes but I would like to add on that as place or things that shape our identities or make our communities, or even they tell unique story about the place,or tells it's history or culture or teach us about the community we live in also makes it explorable place. So doesn't they tell you about how your community works on with vehicles? And even before thinking of a mass produced thing we need to think of that as they asked to check those things if they satisfy any of those then you move ahead otherwise check for mass produced objects later.
An electric vehicle charging station doesn't teach you anything about the community other than "there is an electric vehicle charging station here." If there were an educational sign, the sign might meet criteria. But the mere existence of an infrastructure object, no matter how useful, is not in itself educational.
Ok thanks @flatmatt-PGO
Regardless it doesnt make you want to socialize, exercise, and your reason for going to a charge station isnt to explore its to charge your car. Even if you did click something off before you chose the generic/mass produced rejection it would still fall into rejection for being generic/mass produced anyways. The order does not matter
@flatmatt-PGO what if it tells about the culture about the place that is so much technologically equipped that they are using these charging stations?
Nope, I am willing to explore that station as my place does not have that system and i would be very much encouraged by that to learn about the technology involved.
The exploration category is divided into two subcategories:
As far as I view, a recharging station doesn't fall into either of those two subcategories.
Your really trying to stretch that portion of the criteria. It still doesn’t meet it though
You would quickly find that there's nothing to explore there, you can't see anything inside of it, only a plug. Once you've seen one, you have seen all of them.
Ok @WheelTrekker-ING
Ok understood good explanation.
Good logic hexagonal cells make the best and efficient possible packing, i am happy to see someone with positive attitude like me that loves to support community and niantic to encourage the games more than anything else despite of the pandemic and all the negativity that surrounded everywhere from 2 to 3 years. I hope in future more positive attitude people like us come, from whom positivity comes at any situation.
Well said @Prideofvalor1-PGO.
