I assume this will get it’s own separate category like the others but how do you feel on this? Should it be Russia up next? How do you feel about the rewards? Will you be participating?
These events need a better way for people to opt-in, make it an option to allow people to join and ensure that it does not affect or change their home/bonus location. Then we might see more uptake on the events and get things moving quicker.
Also Russia is a very big place, is there a certain area of Russia? What are the reviewing cells like? Will it cover all of it, or just small areas?
The rewards are so miniscule they don't matter. But I might be interested anyway, even with the cyrillics. But Russia is huge, and it is hard to choose a good place, let alone that we only have 1+8 L7 cells as a bonus area now.
I hope that they'll do somewhere a challenge is really needed next. Sub-saharan africa comes to mind. If there are not enough nominations in one country, I wonder if they could cluster several nations into one reviewing area just to get things started.
Meh, pass. Saint Petersburg is blocked (you can't get your nomination to In Voting without an upgrade if it's located within the city's 2-4 lvl10 cells, outside of it nominations go to In Voting as usual) and I won't get back to reviewing just to get flooded by Finnish carpet washers again.
If you do not know which location to choose in Russia, you can choose any city with a large population (1M+).
I have nominations which stuck in queue for months in Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Ufa. Most of nominations aren't going to voting without updgrade in that cities.
I'm a Finnish reviewer and I already get Russian nominations every so often so participating is a no-brainer for me. I'm trying to get my fellow players to participate as well since the rewards are a nice bonus for little extra effort to us.
To be honest, I'm very afraid of the outcome of this challange.
Seeing what the Niantic team has leaked onto the portal network (something that would never show up under normal reviewers' scrutiny), I'm very afraid that the network will be filled with more "garbage" wayspots, simply because "we need more spots!" and this challange is designed to do just that.
In the pursuit of quantity, Niantic is becoming more and more distant from quality, and what I personally see among the accepted wayspots sends my **** into orbit.
Personally, I think the rewards for both games aren't worth it, they should be buffed again.
And Russia is massive, how are we going to spread the people over the country when everyone is probably is going to review in st. Petersburg or Moscow.
i will participate in the bonus location when my home location submits will go to the vote without the upgrade. in other words if any submit will be at query less than 2 weeks. now my team submits are stuck from the last summer
Заявки из Крыма, включая Севастополь, приходят ревьюверам из России, но адрес стоит такой, как будто бы не имеет территориальной принадлежности :facepalm:
I'm also curious about this. I hope we will get some more explanations, especially about changing bonus location.
Maybe we can choose bonus location just for the time of event and unchoose it after it ends by ourselves - that would be pretty good and might encourage more peeople to participate. But it just my wishful thinking, I hope we will get some more explanation about it :)
New to reviewing, this would be my first challenge. I'm interested but can't read Cyrillic so would be 100% reliant on google translate, which is not exactly ideal. I also want to make sure my bonus location isn't stuck in Russia for a year but it sounds like they have reset it after the prior ones (but you need to specifically ask on the forum?)
I'm also concerned that the focus on accepted spots will pressure people to push through bad candidates.
Isn’t the point of these focused challenges to clear the type of back log you reference in St. Petersburg by encouraging more people to review?
This challenge seems interesting because if they nerfed the rewards, locals who already don’t review aren’t really being incentivized to. I wish they would target these challenges more to the active Wayfarer community as a whole. Let us all change our bonus locations for the challenge and maybe incorporate google translate into the reviews to match each reviewers native language? I’m not a computer person so I’m sure what I’m suggesting is actually a lot more difficult to implement, just a thought to have these challenges be more effective.
I'd be interested if I could change my bonus for this event! The last two I just kinda skipped over because of competing priorities but there are so many places in Russia I'd like to visit, even virtually!
Personally, a super incubator and a premium (non-remote) raid pass aren't worth going to the trouble for (the incense would just go onto my pile of 30ish incense I already have stockpiled, and the balls would go right in the trash). If they were offering upgrades as they did when the India rewards didn't work, I'd strongly consider it. But maybe they're not really trying to attract overseas reviewers with no connection to Russia. Maybe they're just trying to give a little push to those who might be inclined to review in the region anyway.
well, if you go somewhere in Russia you could go to a place that has not such a big backlog. Big Backlog means that prob. you will have to wait several weeks or month until the thing you reviewed actually gets thru/gets rejected (= meaning you will get your % late).

The rewards are Not Worth the Hassle of Opt in via Forums, an then get kyrillic Submissions.
Учите русский язык - пригодится ;)

P. S. be ready for thousands of playgrounds :)
Does the Crimean peninsula here count as Russia, or Ukraine?
😅
Looks like it's count to nowhere :)
Exactly there i wanted to place my bonus location, hoping to see some submissions with old military stuff xD

I'm in! I love virtual tourism.
I hope there's a better mechanism for resetting bonus locations at the beginning and end... the one for India was awkward.

this bit is not clead to me: "reducing the cooldown periods and increasing the limit to change your bonus hometown"
can someone explain, please?
I don't understand the meaning when the sentence in the red frame of Niantic's Tweet is translated.
Could you explain it in an easy-to-understand manner?
I'm also curious about this. I hope we will get some more explanations, especially about changing bonus location.

@WayfarerOfficial
@NianticCasey-ING
@NianticGiffard
Because the corona epidemic, please change the reward to Remote Raid Pass!
Change reward to free Sputnik V vaccine ;)
the corona epidemic is much better, according to -jh. he will soon up the ante and have you back running to gyms.

Made in Russia! (Lol)
The OCR translator of the LINE app that I used to read English characters in photos does not support Russian.
Would you please teach me an OCR translation site that supports Russian?

This is one of the major flaws of the system.
