Thank you for acknowledging my comment. I didn't mean to be harsh but when I had to tell your support three times "hey, this person is using their Trainer Name to expose my real-world name", and the "punishment" dealt, was each time, to hand them an opportunity to choose a new name to do so with (Ive also provided evidence of spoofing by one of the players responsible), its just a little sad.
I know y'all can't disclose what actions you take on another player but when I tell you guys that the punishments aren't working, they're basically using them as free name changes, I feel like talking to a brick wall is more productive.
I was really hoping by mentioning it before mid-June I could give them a chance to surprise us in a good way.
@NianticCasey-ING why should we place combating abuse as a priority when the team does everything they can to express how little of a priority it is for them?
I was wondering about this... Look up Niantic Careers on Google... They have a TON of open listings for jobs. Much more than I would expect so I think they are short staffed.
@NianticGiffard are you able to confirm whether or not the team was actually working on this? Casey's lack of update and Wayforum involvement over the last month more or less proves they were never sincere about address this.
If the updates ended up delayed, having an announcement or update informing us of the postponement would help. Especially if it was around the time we were promised the initial announcement.
What puzzles me is just how many times this has been pushed back. When it was first announced, we were told it was only a week away from launch and expected to launch on May 1st. Then the idea got expanded and its been delayed 3 times since then. What changed that pushed it from being one week away to over two months away? Can we at least get the version we were supposed to get two months ago until you all can get us the final product? It sounded like it was practically complete.
You're not wrong. The original process was an improved abuse reporting process, which is much needed. The expansion was to wrap appeals into it, which is a welcome improvement, but at least appeals currently function. Abuse reporting doesn't. The abuse reporting overhaul is a necessity. The appeals improvement is not. Continuing to delay the improvements to abuse reporting in favor of improving the appeals process is not doing the community any favors.

I think you misspelled "continues to allow the community to have a target painted on them."
And, to be honest, anonymous means to handle appeals is necessary, but Niantic was able to hide their disinterest in fixing either system by molding them together in an "improved" package they could continue to delay.
We were patient, @NianticGiffard. We were patient when edits were turned offline over a year ago with promise for a better system within a few weeks. Weeks turned to months without reply, then another month went by where we were told different incorrect things to do, such as reporting Wayspots as invalid when we wanted them moved (which actually triggered removal of a local Portal in my area), and finally the "stop gap" still in use. It's been months where Casey has indicated it was right around the corner.
No mention of it @AnsonNIA-PGO's roadmap, either. Should we just give up on this dream?

Basically, some follow-through would be nice.
Who's excited for the mid-June update? 🙌
mid-June 2022?
Mid June is either Next Week or Soon™
June 29th is technically the middle of June.

You guys are talking about next June right? Excuse the sarcasm

This has not aged well

What happened is it's never been a priority. We've been mislead before, this is no different.

I'm concerned that Casey's last active is a week ago.
Hi @NianticGiffard@NianticCasey-ING just gonna ghost us on an issue you pretended to care about a few months ago? @NianticGiffard you've been making rounds, why ignore this thread?
I apologize for the wait. We are currently working towards it and will share an update soon. Your patience is appreciated.
