I changed my bonus because of the 2 warning messages (home: this can't be changed again, bonus: this can't be changed for a year), bonus seemed a bit better if it got stuck. So now I'm stuck for a year because I didn't like the warning message about being permanently stuck and also, you reset people bonuses following India's challenge so why not now?
Next time you ask people to make what appears to be a permanent change to their account, I would suggest changing that warning message to make it clear that this is not a permanent change within the event. I'm sure some people just decided not to participate when reading the warning, and some like me clearly decided to take the smaller risk and change their bonus instead.
@Blaumut-ING Just because they are new on the wayfarer forum, doesn't mean they are new accounts. I've reviewed almost 7k submissions, but don't have a high post count due to not being on the forum much. I'm also in the boat of now having to review stops for the next 12 months for a location I can't read. The information about the event was shared around many social media places and pokemon go news websites. Not all of them passed on the information about the home location and not everyone would have came here to clarify, especially when the last event asked to change bonus location, doubly so when the first line read that anyone with the home or bunus location can get the rewards.
Obviously with the amount of threads and comments on here, there should be enough people that were confused over this that Niantic would help, but in pure Niantic fashion, they wipe their hands of it because it's in the too hard basket.
Then blame the media, not Niantic. As I stated before, it's yours fault if you chose the bonus location In Rusia because you don't read or understood the rules.
Furthermore a lot of wayfarers (i.e. Wayfarer accounts) only moved to Russia for the bonus, without review any submission.
It seems fair to me to that this kind of accounts stay for a year and contribute to help the Russian community.
"eligible Wayfinders in Russia or those who review Russian Wayspots (via your home/bonus location ) can participate by reviewing Wayspot nominations in the country. For this challenge, we will be reducing the cooldown periods and increasing the limit to change your hometown settings if you are a local but living abroad."
This is, at best, a confusing way to phrase it. Niantic's communication ability is historically poor and this is no exception.
In fact, this is just poor phrasing: "eligible Wayfinders in Russia or those who review Russian Wayspots (via your home/bonus location ) can participate by reviewing Wayspot nominations in the country. For this challenge, we will be reducing the cooldown periods and increasing the limit to change your hometown settings if you are a local but living abroad."
The fact the only place where it is stated that "bonus locations won't be adjusted for Russia" is buried in a thread related to the India Wayfarer Challenge.
Again, this would've been helpful in the Russia Challenge Announcement post. This is just poor communication.

The fact the only place where it is stated that "bonus locations won't be adjusted for Russia" is in a thread called "Bonus Resets for India Wayfarer Challenge" (which I'm sure a lot of folks didn't feel was relevant if they didn't participate in it) is an example of poor communication. It's no wonder so many people are asking for a reset.
Yes, I suffer from the same problem in understanding, see:
>We are proud to announce our next initiative: the Russia Wayfarer Challenge! From 1 June 2021 at 00:00 a.m. MSK until 16 June 2021 at 00:00 a.m. MSK, eligible Wayfinders in Russia or those who review Russian Wayspots (via your home/bonus location) can participate by reviewing Wayspot nominations in the country. For this challenge, we will be reducing the cooldown periods and increasing the limit to change your hometown settings if you are a local but living abroad.<
OK, now I understand the sentence from the announcement. At least I hope...
to participate you have to have your home or bonus location in/set to Russia, and
if you are a local, your home is Russia, but you live abroad you could switch the home location temporary back to Russia, which will be resetted afterwards
means no-Russians have to use the bonus location, which will not be resetted.
Same as, my old bonus location was near Las Vegas, NV, which I visit at least 2 times a year, but where I'm not "local". And/Or (in addition) does it also means, that this challenge is for locals only, living in Russian and Russians living abroad. Means the participation to the Russia Challence, as a local German, without any Russian roots, was not intended? I'm confused a bit... again, my mother language is not English and I'm not familar with English law-texts, sorry...
Afterwards and after consulting some native English speakers, it might be clearer. Afterwards. But before and while? Different readings and interpretation were possible, specially as there were different postings by Niantic with different formulations. You find evidence for both "ways of interpretation".
I also made this unfortunate mistake as I wasn't aware you could change your main location. I did still do a bunch of Russia reviews so hopefully that still counts. Hopefully they let us change bonus location
But if they did that, they wouldn't get the rewards. You only got the rewards if you got at least an agreement. As many have stated above, it looks like the only place this was explicity mentioned of bonus location not being reset was under the india challenge. Surely not everyone is expected to go through forum posts to find out the information. The annoucement should have been explicit in mentioning it.
I love the way that NIA forum admins have made 0 comments on any of the threads concerning the fallout from the Russia challenge and bonus location mistakes....do they actually employ anyone to monitor the threads? I would have at least thought that as this is a cross-game forum some of the millions of dollars Niantic have made on some of their products would be channeled into forum staff. Just another case of Niantic letting down their unpaid workforce.
Yes, in the same boat. This was not communicated effectively in the event announcement. Only after I had already set my bonus do I stumble onto on the forums and see the thread about the India event stating it wont be reset and that I'd be stuck.
It's not terrible, when I do reviews maybe 1 in 20 pop up in Russia, and I can use Chrome to translate them. I would like it reset but I can deal with it for awhile. There ought to be a chance to change the bonus location to match the next event if they run another of these.
Has anyone had any luck? I assume it's a fruitless endeavour to ask but ah well, might as well give it a shot 😅
I've done this too, and am now frequently reaching the end of my review queue due to a lack of submissions in my home area and bonus area. I'd appreciate a chance to change my bonus location back as I misinterpreted the Russia challenge announcement and assumed I was meant to change my bonus location.
Based on the feedback received we have decided to make an exception this time and agreed to reset locations (hometown and bonus location for users whoever requested after the event)
Some users might have requested location change on a different thread, please find your name here. Also, I might have missed out on few names who are still experiencing trouble changing their location, please write back if you're the one.
can you reset my bonus that is stuck in Russia? I started reviewing before the challenge and had already set my home location. There was no one to change it for the challenge so my only option was to change my bonus location. I am still yet to receive me upgrades for doing so. All I want is for me to be able to change my bonus location

Same here, please help.

Please, Niantic do something…

Blaming Niantic don't help. Good luck.
Me too.... Bonus stuck in Russia for 12 months, no thank you.
"You don't read or understand the rules" ok then, show me in the announcement post where it says, explicitly what you're saying it does, about the rules. https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/17852/announcing-the-russia-wayfarer-challenge#latest
....
Here's what I got:
"eligible Wayfinders in Russia or those who review Russian Wayspots (via your home/bonus location ) can participate by reviewing Wayspot nominations in the country. For this challenge, we will be reducing the cooldown periods and increasing the limit to change your hometown settings if you are a local but living abroad."
This is, at best, a confusing way to phrase it. Niantic's communication ability is historically poor and this is no exception.
It was pretty misleading of y'all not to explicitly state in the Russia Wayfarer Challenge announcement post that bonus locations wouldn't be reset if used to help vote: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/17852/announcing-the-russia-wayfarer-challenge#latest
In fact, this is just poor phrasing: "eligible Wayfinders in Russia or those who review Russian Wayspots (via your home/bonus location ) can participate by reviewing Wayspot nominations in the country. It is very unfortunate that this is the case, since there wasn't anything explicitly stated against setting bonus location in the announcement thread: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/17852/announcing-the-russia-wayfarer-challenge#latest

Hi @NianticGiffard Can you reset my bonus location please, the challenge finish, thanks for all :)
I also made this unfortunate mistake as I wasn't aware you could change your main location. I did still do a bunch of Russia reviews so hopefully that still counts. Hopefully they let us change bonus location
I have same problem, Please reset our bonus location

Lol wasn't we supose to do the bonus location there?
I would like to reset mine as well, sorry :(
I'm still reviewing there tho, just don't want to wait a whole year to take it back haha
