New Gyms

Does anyone know what is the criteria of the system to convert poke stops in new gyms? I thought that the oldest poke stops were the ones that became gyms but I already verified that this is not entirely true.

Google provides many useful links, like this one https://www.reddit.com/r/NianticWayfarer/wiki/faq#wiki_how_do_pok.E9stops.2Fwayspots_become_gyms.3F
I believe that information is out of date since it became possible to upvote photos in GO.
This really isn't Wayfarer related, Wayfarer does not pick what's a stop what's a gym and anything else.
Used to be the most upvotes and pictures in ingress for a portal made that one a pokestop into a gym, that included the newest pokestop. Nowadays it seems that's still the case but the upvotes need to have been on the portal for a while. If its a draw (so no new pictures and no upvotes) it's either oldest portal or just random, haven't seen too much info on that bit but based on the few instances it happened near me it was the oldest stop became gym
This question isn’t related to Wayfarer. You can suggest that they create a Pokémon GO Forum, but for now this isn’t the right place for this question.
Would have said I don't know why they haven't, but given how bad niantic is at dealing with these forums, do we really need another forum they won't deal with?
I think they need to separate it out. This forum is meant to be just about Wayfarer specific queries (which is why it was separated out from the Ingress forums in the first place) but has devolved to be 80% Pokémon GO queries.
Thanks for the lively discussion on this thread. Based on the content of the discussion, I will be closing it for future comments. I appreciate your understanding.
