So here’s the timeline, and you’re the one digging in that it’s not a personal attack? Hosette submitted a nomination It was discovered and posted to a group that she happens to moderate The wayspot was approved Much (extensive and unneeded) commentary resulted Niantic staff noticed, and corrective action was taken on the…

*rails not raids, but if I edit the comment it goes hiding into moderation limbo, so meh
-
No, we’re calling for this thread to be closed because it’s an personal-attack-based post, which itself is against ToS. It’s not about Wayfarer, it’s about third party forums that Niantic cannot in any way themselves police, so it’s off-topic. It’s inflammatory content led to personal attacks against @Hosette-ING , which…

Nothing was censored. I used the * key repeatedly. Any incivility was in your own mind.
-
When somebody is telling me to “be civil” it implies that I had not been. I call that “an attack”. You don’t?
-
That Niantic has staff working at odd hours (relative to North America) but who are not our authoritative Giffard/Tintino/Aaron? There is nobody at Niantic working right now that would shut down this filled-with-hostility thread down. If posted with different timing, it would have already been closed and/or moderated…

“ANY ATTEMPT”… Gee, I’ve personally posted a ****ton of advice in these forums, on reddit, on Facebook, in private Telegram groups, on Discord. So because I’m advising people how to vote in Wayfarer, now I’m in violation of Niantic’s ToS? @admins for these forums, it is well and truly beyond time to shut down this thread.…

@rodensteiner-ING Sometimes the solution is to think “outside the box” so to speak. People may have thought I was joking, but I’ve always advocated that one could work with and/or sponsor organizations like Scouting troops to work with their communities, perhaps to create a series of educational plaques along the trail.
-
The biggest issue with an automated system to create generated wayspots is, priority needs to be given to the trail markers proper, ie. signage that indicates entrances into the trail system, or that indicates where multiple trails converge/cross/intersect. And given that we’ve ALREADY been instructed to avoid allowing…

My local hospital has a museum-quality display of nursing/medical artifacts on its ground floor. On all counts that would qualify as a wayspot, but I choose not to submit it, on the grounds I don't want to be in any way responsible for "obstructing emergency services". On the other hand, there is also a garden near its…

@NianticDanbocat I've been a longtime contributor to the Wayfarer system, from back when it was originally "OPR". Gots some 340+ accepted items under my belt now (which is saying a lot, especially considering I don't drive!). Overall the system works, but I've definitely been quite loudly critical on a few points. A couple…

I've gotten a ****ton of such rejections for so-called (and non-existent) "photo quality" issues. See other thread here: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/22256/will-it-be-possible-to-report-reviewers#latest But one thing you can do to "improve" the photo, at least in the minds of TOO MANY reviewers, is…

If you really really want to see some of my nominations, welp, Discord requires that I already know your full username including the #xxxx suffix

Unfortunately due to real-world in-person harassment (against me, not by me), I'm very wary of posting anything that publicly exposes my location. This includes nominations, as they quite directly reveal my whereabouts. Maybe when Niantic finally allows us to make "removal" appeals in private that will change. In the…

I would edit the above to reword "continue to refuse that a paintball course is somehow" and change "refuse" to "insist" because, well, proper English. But doing so would put my comment into that weird Limbo for an unpredictably number of hours. #Mybad

I've been calling out Niantic to have SOME better way of educating bad reviewers, from the wayback days when it was still only called "OPR". Unfortunately @soloredcup never did answer my pointedly directed questions. I would still ask that our new Wayfarer staff @NianticTintino or perhaps our faithful @NianticGiffard keep…

@NianticGiffard @NianticTintino this is some more context on @Hosette-ING's question: https://www.facebook.com/groups/WayfarerGlobalReviewers/posts/3056569927997322 Essentially, I agree with Hosette what the apparent INTENTION of the "no third-party text" rule is: don't get our favourite games' developer sued for spreading…

So @NianticGiffard, I dare say that this is an issue that suddenly NEEDS to be addressed. A lot of wayfarer users are obsessed with the idea of "honeypot" submissions -- those which they believe are inserted into the review queue in order to "trip up" poor reviewers. But from everything I can tell, those are really just a…

I’d publicly posted about my privacy concern before it ironically bit me when removing a fake location. In the end, the only reason nothing further happened with the abusive player, was that I knew their identity too (because they bragged about it in some local chat group, and a player in there privately told me about it),…
-
The other half of the process also apparently requires potentially subjecting yourself to both online and in-person harassment from your local players, as happened to me. When I reported a location as fake, I ended up being doxxed: the local player “anonymously” sent me emails that included my home address as well as…

And with regards to that lawsuit, Niantic NEVER forbade wayspots within 40m of PRP. We were directed to make sure only that: the POI was not on PRP we were only to "closely inspect" wayspots that were within ~40m of PRP to ensure that players could access the location without trespassing
-
One of the things not mentioned in this thread is that Wayfarer+ is NOT the only add-on plugin that reviewers can use. And others have what amounts to abusive/nefarious use. ie. being able to collectively vote the same on specific nominations Perhaps some of Niantic's backend changes had more to do with the eternal…

My biggest issue with submitting any "local gems" is the miniscule amount of space available to work with in the Description and the Supporting Text fields. Combined with the fact that so many reviewers WILL NOT EVER open any links you provide? Sometimes it ends up coming down to the luck of the draw, the particular set of…
-
My bullet points were examples of things that players incorrectly tried to insist were acceptable, not rules. But to split hairs; anything on a median, surrounded entirely by driving lanes, MUST have SOME safe pedestrian access leading to the location. It does not matter whether it is in the middle of a roundabout, or any…
-
One needs to be able to walk up to the POI, stand at the location as long as you want* (minutes! hours! days!), and then interact with the POI. For things like a mural, "height" is not relevant -- you can stand at the base of the brick wall. A business with a parking lot is considered "safe" -- if you cannot get from your…

I bought my mom a book for her birthday, it was about a major part of our local history. After giving it to her I was just flipping through it quickly, mostly just looking at the pictures… and came across a plaque. My first thought was, “gee, I’ve never hacked that portal before…” And after some poking around on Google’s…

Good news: your nomination appears to be fine. (caveat: I did not attempt to translate the text from your submission into English) Bad news: a sufficiently-large number of reviewers is misinformed as to what "Private Property" actually means to Niantic, and that ONLY "Single-Family Private Residential Property" is to be…
