Here, mass produced concrete footbridges not on a named trail gets through easily because it's a footbridge... The OP's restaurant bridge is miles better than the stuff here. Not only is it unique architecture, it is also a good place to gather and be social. Note to self, make decent placeholder text just in case. Also…

Personally I would love this feature, it's fine if the default is off but I'd use it for sure, it's often that I go away for a weekend, submit a bunch of stuff, and by Sunday evening/Monday morning some of them are already in voting. Maybe just me though, as I tend to go to remote areas. Sometimes I forget to log into…

I think the biggest lesson to me here is that Niantic wants to see a photosphere even though instructions on how to find it in the state survey database is usually sufficient for general reviewers. Being a foreign reviewer, they don't want to/don't know how to use the state survey database to verify location, even though…

Thank you, my friend reports that they no longer get the "!" while trying to review and they can now nominate wayspots again.
-
I must say, of the two I've done within the past fortnight, both got actioned really quick (so they probably do it at least daily), I'd say it was actioned in under 24 hours as the wayspots were gone by the second sync after my posts. However it seems Niantic would action the appeal (if successful) then post on the thread…

I agree that Niantic's track record on handling duplicates isn't great, I did an in-game report of a very obvious duplicate and it was rejected within a couple of days. I sort of expect that these days though, so I submitted an appeal on these forums and Niantic actioned the removal within 24 hours.
-
Well, I think I'll have success to some degree - I'm no stranger to appealing invalid wayspot appeals on the forums. I won't bother with the ones on the kerb and all that, but there are some submissions that are so brazen that the marker and the actual POI is literally on the road. PRP ones might be harder to remove than…

My favourite from the past few days was the one in the middle of Kingsway. There was also old **** from Turramurra, who probably spammed the system anyway because the one I reviewed a couple of days ago was a dupe of one already in the system, which I had no idea how it got through in the first place because it was…
-
Yep I noticed they did that yesterday - I find that they action it pretty fast then post here about it 2-3 days later. Sometimes I wish Niantic would reject all of my removal requests this fast so I can appeal on here. 🤣

Seen the abusive photo uploads around Sans Souci? The dog wasn't even that cute.
-
The reason I submitted "Entrance to EPIC" as a duplicate is because "Canberra Showgrounds" is the older wayspot. It seems like at some stage 2 years ago, some people attempted to do the right thing - either reviewers correctly marked a nomination as a duplicate or someone uploaded a photo of the newish-at-the-time black…

Well, 2 of mine are still nowhere to be seen, but given it was so long ago, I'd say it's probably lost forever...

This bug gets brought up every now and then, last incarnation was: It's been around for a while, at least Niantic is acknowledging it now.
-
Some days I get the "why bother" feeling too. In the past few weeks, I've had a couple of invalid wayspots (a childcare centre and a duplicate) resolved from 2020 and 2021, but I've also had another couple of very very obvious invalid wayspots - also another childcare centre and a duplicate get knocked back within days,…

My friend with this problem has tried Firefox and Chrome on PC as well as Chrome on Android phone and all get the same thing. Judging by the other threads with the same issue, this is most likely to do with someone sitting and passing the wayfarer test a long time ago but never did any reviews, then at some stage, the…

Still some in the system, reckon this is from before the change though?

Upgrades are still a curse, and geez I don't see how a park information board isn't culturally significant. My friend just posted this: Apparently these days people still don't realise that "fire trail" really means it's a management trail (usually in a nature reserve or a national park) where when it's been dry for a…

When I played Ingress, I relied heavily on ultra strikes, because the resident fielder would defend his portals. I could stand there and use a bunch of bursters but ultra striking was much much more effective in my case. Everyone has a different play style when it comes to Ingress but my point still stands. I'm sure that…
-
You do realise wayspots are not just for Pokemon Go right? There is a reason that the POI must have safe pedestrian access - so let me reiterate and elaborate why. In Ingress, there's an item called an ultra strike, these are weapons that have a very very small strike radius. You can protect/defend portals by equipping it…

Well, hopefully Niantic acknowledges this bug eventually...

It's probably about as random as the invalid wayspot reports. I only put a single appeal in - on the second day it became available, no dice yet. On a different note, I got 2 invalid wayspot reports back in the past week, 1 submitted Feb 12 2021 (decided last Friday) and 1 submitted Aug 28 2020 (decided 2 days ago). 😂
-
Glad I wasn't the only one who rejected those then. I only saw one of them and I rejected it because it wasn't art (light box using mass produced decal) and it was a generic business (submitter made no attempt to "sell" it as a hyper local business). That side of Roselands has a gazillion similar restaurants anyway. Either…

Just found this as well: Judging by the duplicate list, a similar tree one "Bull - Oak - R.K. Richards Park." has already made it through. 😒
-
Looking around that area, here are the other dodgy wayspots already/still in game, some of which have already been mentioned: R.K. Richards Park - Trickey CT Entrance. Scavenger Hunt - J.F. O'Brien Park Importance of Trees Kangaroo Tracks D. Grieve Reserve Map - Mulcahy Ct Entrance. Got someone to have a look, those were…
-
Thanks to this thread, something tells me this nomination is from the same person: AW Knight Reserve is only a few hundred metres up the road from D Grieve Reserve, and while that plastic box looks slightly different when zoomed in, it's still a dodgy plastic box. You guys might want to keep an eye on it.
-
The "doesn't hurt your rating" part caught my eye as well, that's very very interesting. I'd like to say I like it, but only if the appeals process work as originally intended, because we've all being on the wrong end of the review stick before.
-
The rules haven't changed all that much, I think it's just that now, a lot of reviewers vote in a very black/white sort of way in regards to entire categories of nominations rather than evaluating each nomination on its individual merit, e.g. Artistic/culturally significant estate signs vs every estate sign Footbridge on…

Noting your Wayfinder rating is on "fair", agreements will only count towards your medal if your rating is "good" or "great". Source: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/comment/69161#Comment_69161

Quoting the NSW Spatial Services glossary (https://www.spatial.nsw.gov.au/surveying/scims_online/glossary): --- Each Permanent Survey Mark (PSM) in SCIMS consists of a two-letter Mark Type prefix and a Mark Number. The Mark Type is one of the following: TS Trigonometrical Station SS State Survey Mark PM Permanent Mark CR…

Personally I'd let it time out, given that for the same nomination, some reviewers will see the correct duplicate check list and some won't, it means one set of those people will miss out on an agreement. Hit enough of those, it might even affect your ratings. Depending on how many out of area reviewers you get, some…
