While this may be inevitable, I would hope this is a very rare occurance. I have seen a number of appeals that Niantic has rejected that I can't understand why. I would love to know their insight here and it would greatly help the wayfarer community gain a better understanding of the system.

Unfortunately from my experiences it seems like they do not treat them separately, even though they absolutely should. There is definitely room for improvement here from Niantic and I hope they will at least acknowledge that.
-
Also, if it is possible to be shared, it would be interesting to know how many appeals the team has gotten through.

I made a long post on Ingress forum yesterday that explains why the 20m rule needs to be changed: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/18763/why-the-20m-proximity-rule-for-portals-needs-to-be-reduced-or-removed
-
@Purptacular-PGO Tintino did mention that ☝️

This seems unnessecary. In my experience Niantic has done a great job in manually processing requests over 20m and it has cut back majorly on misuse of edits. It's actually quite surprising.
-
Great question. Additionally, how is this information being used to improve the entire process of submitting and reviewing?
-
I definitely understand the concerns about automatic punishements. If they go that route, and I do believe they should, it should be for things where the rejection was objectively incorrect, like an unwarranted URL, lisence plate, or face reject. And even then, it's probably best if an automated punishment only comes after…

Theres a big difference between incentivizing people to submit relatively useless POIs and making more use out of currently useless POIs
-
I am definitely a fan of these when they actually promote community events and social acitivities, but I have seen a lot of people try to pass Bulletin boards that are just like a company posting their job listings, orba real estate office posting their cureent home listings.
-
Pavilions and picnic areas are both great places to be social. The difference between them though, is that a pavilion is far more likely to be permanent. A picnic area that is comprised of a couple picnic tables in some dirt is going to cause reviewers to question its permanence. Alternatively, many picnic areas have their…

Giffard already gave an excellent clarification in that very thread. The problem isn't that we need a clarification, the problem is that Niantic needs to compile clarifications like that into the critera page where they can be easily found and referenced. Only an extremely small amount of players will see that…

Thanks for listening to the podcast! 😁

Thank you for fixing this! We were becoming worried that the arbitrary AMA voting deadline would pass and you would cancel it like you did with the 12th ambassador. Will the voting period be extended since we couldn't vote for the past two days?
-
I completely agree that automatic punishments would have issues, however there are a lot of cases where people just blatantly did not review correctly. The frequency of this I'm sure varies greatly between different rejection reasons. For example, I recently had a nomination rejected for "URL" when the only URL in the…

@RU001-ING 👋 Thanks for listening! I hope you learned something new!

I am also experiencing the "Category is not configured for ideation" thing photo:

@NianticTintino There is no difference between Wayfarer logins on the reviewing website, only here on the forum. Logging into the reviewing website only gives the option between Facebook and Google, as shown below:

In a case where a reviewer does happen to know that a POI is misplaced by several miles, and does happen to know the correct location, the duplicate check does not extend nearly that far anyways, so it would be impossible to check if the POI is even in the system. Even in a case where someone makes a mistake and a highly…

It is very much intentional. The same abuser(s) continue to move wayspots to that same house (as well as several other locations), generally replacing other abusive POIs within days of Niantic removing them. They have done it many many times. Again, it is very much intentional.
-
This is now fixed to me and numerous reports are coming in that the system seems to be functioning normally again
-
The site is back up but now when trying to review i get an error popup from Chrome that says: wayfarer.nianticlabs.com says Wayfarer's response didn't include a candidate. It then proceeds to kick me to the "You're all done" message as if I have nothing left to review.

This deserves its own thread, tbh.

"Education" needs to be comprised of two things: Better resources, and continuing education. As far as resources, there are so many essential things about Wayfarer that aren't included in the official documentation, but are essential for users to succeed at Wayfarer. This type of information needs better documentation.…

They do want to come back. Perhaps you could address the issue which caused them to quit, and has upset many additional users who are currently being ignored: The unnecessary reinstatement of the 20 meter rule in Ingress. Relevant threads: 20m rule, is it really needed? Ingress 2.90.1 Release Notes (Ingress Forum)…

Looks like you are correct, in this post from February, Giffard did in fact say that: Now coming to your last query - What's your opinion about playgrounds that are replaced with new equipment? - Players need to update the new image of the play area of remodeled/renovated/pieces of equipment that are replaced if the…

@NianticTintino-ING, in the Wayfarer 4.4 announcement when appeals were introduced, it was stated that "Niantic will review your appeal and send you an email when a decision has been made, with a written explanation from us", however the emails we get regarding appeals are generic and do not provide any such written…

I'm not familiar with the history of what's going on with the entirety of this situation, nor have I looked into the details of what has been reported and who may be right or wrong, but I want to point out a few things: That dude requested the deletion of a playground because ... a swing was replaced by a new one. Niantic…

For those unaware, the most recent update to Ingress fixed portal sync, and Thia confirmed that the 20m rule is intentional.
