The park is closed and has been for 3 years now.

@NianticOtoStar
-
Please see above. I attached the rejection

Here is the rejection @NianticOtoStar

There are no Ingress Agents that have legal and safe access to that lighthouse any longer. That is not a portal that should be in the game if no agent can access it.
-
@Hosette-ING Your comment “This combines with Niantic's rule that safe pedestrian access means that someone has to be able to access the portal…” is again, not accurate. If that was true, Drawbridge would not have been removed. “Safe pedestrian access” means what it says. And the lighthouse is no longer accessible by…
-
There is not one Ingress player that can legally access that Portal, and it has been that way for years. I don’t think that is in the spirit of the game to have a portal that is completely inaccessible by those playing the game. Portals have been taken down for less reasons than have been shown here. It’s that simple. The…
-
Under Safety, on their website, it says: “There are SIGNIFICANT SAFTEY RISKS when visiting Kalaupapa and no medical facilities.” How is that considered safe pedestrian access? Oh, and the county is CLOSED.
-
@29andCounting-PGO To the trail. The county is still closed. Read the first alert.
-
@Hosette-ING why was the Enlightened able to take down Drawbridge? With your rationale that any portal that can be accessible by NPS somehow makes it valid, wouldn’t they be able to access Drawbridge? Crossing the train tracks somehow made that an invalid portal because someone determined there was no safe pedestrian…
-
@patsufredo-PGO “Your source please? Or did you try to make up the argument?” The Kalaupapa Website. Look it up.
-
Again, Hosette, you’re missing the point. What I read was that the Department of Health was managing Kalawao County. You showed additional information to expand on that. You don’t see people supposedly on the same team calling the other a liar when adding information, now do you? Yikes Hosette, again, please take your…
-
@Hosette-ING You say “That is one of the removal criteria, yes. If you can prove that nobody has access to the portal, including NPS personnel, then that would be grounds for a legitimate removal request.” The entire county is closed. There are no medical facilities in the county. There is no safe pedestrian access. Period.
-
@Hosette-ING you say “ Trinity Site is an interesting case of limited access that I think is a good one-- it is generally inaccessible but there are public tours twice per year.” That is a good example of why it this lighthouse is invalid. There are no public tours, and there haven’t been for years now. It is indefinitely…

“Then Hawaiian Department of Health or Manager of Kalaupapa National Historic Park have to request the removal of all Wayspot in that island by themshelves. Players can't act as intermediaries…”. Let me introduce you to Wayfarer…
-
“Because it's remote and difficult to access physically I am unaware of anyone ever attempting to trespass or otherwise access it illegitimately.” That’s because no one CAN access it legitimately.
-
Straight from the Hawaiian Department of Health: “Kalaupapa National Historic Park manages the lighthouse and owns the property that it is located on.” The rest of the county belongs to the Department of Health, which has closed the entire county. You can’t access the lighthouse without going through the closed county.
-
And the park is closed indefinitely.
-
Hosette, no one is lying here. How dare you. Please be a Troll elsewhere. We are here to determine facts, and if you have facts to share, then share them so we can all learn. But this sort of attack is unnecessary and counter productive. And you still can’t get to that lighthouse without going through an area that has no…
-
if you assume that if the National Park Service has access, it makes it a valid portal. In this case you are wrong. The Hawaiian Department of Health is in charge of this park. So, still no safe pedestrian access.
-
Yes, there are two others in that county which would also qualify for removal based on the same reasons. The entire county there is closed to the public.
-
Trail collapse On the evening of 25 December 2018, a postal service worker discovered significant damage to the trail from an enormous landslide. According to the Star Advertiser, the landslide took out a bridge on one of the switchbacks, and the trail is indefinitely closed.
-
And as NitrousBlue pointed out “Acceptance: appears to NOT meet a safe & publicly accessible by pedestrians location. (Special government issued permit to gain access to the county). It is a closed county by State Law
-
No. Per the National Park Website, The 3.5 miles trail to the park is extremely strenuous with steep, uneven surfaces. Rockslides and mudslides on the trail are not uncommon.Trail conditions can be wet and muddy in the winter and hot and humid in the summer. Footing can be slippery. Hiking the trail is physically…
-
The fact that every single Ingress player in the entire world would be in violation of federal law if they accessed that portal should be enough reason to remove that portal. Besides, there is no safe pedestrian access to that portal, and you would be arrested and / or fined if you tried. Read NitrousBlue’s comments above.…

And the “Closed” comment is on page 12 of: https://trackbill.com/bill/hawaii-department-committee-258-rpt-annual-report-to-the-legislature-on-initiatives-and-improvements-in-kalaupapa-settlement-doh/2313572/

Add a link to the National a park Service showing the park is closed to the public https://www.nps.gov/kala/index.htm
-
With the trail and bridge down, and a fence around the lighthouse, I don’t think anyone can access it.
-
This photo shows a fence around the lighthouse. The location was just changed by Niantic to be on the lighthouse itself, and they locked its position. What if that portal is no longer accessible because it is not open to the public and it can’t be reached from the fence line? Thus, an inaccessible portal that should be…
