  • I'll repeat we have had Niantic Appeal mistakes. And I said if he wants to post in support of your sign he can do that too. Besides which you made it an issue by posting it here publically and reposting it multiple times, More importantly, I think your picture does more harm than good to the wayfarer system as a whole.…
  • One of the things you are neglecting is that we have not been told Niantic Reviews are "Gold Standard" and to accept what Niantic Reviews accept. We also have had examples posted of wrong Niantic Reviews. And even had appeals of Niantic Reviews accepted via forums. So while you got "Slippery while wet" through a review, it…
  • Ice Ceam parlors tend to pass through easily in my area. I tend to pass it off as combination of lines outside + sports teams all gathering after a game. Sort of hard to deny they are a great place to gather then 30+ people in same uniform all show up :> Restaurants are a lot tougher to get in. What makes that restaurant…
  • I happen to think I'd have voted to approve the bench as a bench. It isn't generic by any stretch and its positioning between the trees adds to that/ And can be a place to socialize, or even explore. However, if thats the case, you'd need a little different approach. Closer picture of the bench, I'd like to see the two…
  • From the November 2020 AMA, the first after the 3.1 update: The new criteria lists hiking trails and biking trails as eligible examples under a great place for exercise. Are there any additional requirements for these locations to be eligible (e.g. survey markers, trail signs or other man-made objects)? Do they need to be…
  • Personally, this is an interesting context question. Niantic appears to be super lenient on trails. The whole reason we have upteen trail markers accepted, even completely generic and non descript ones, is because Niantic said so. They've reinforced this with multiple posts, yet some people still fight the issue. there was…
  • @X0bai-PGO The issue is Niantic just uses poor wording. When it comes to Niantic... Not Ineligible DOESNT equal Eligible. Most business whether retail or hospitality aren't eligible because they don't meet the 3 criteria of Exercise/Explore/Gather. Some hospitality business's might reach Gather or Explore level. Some…
  • All awesome responses and musings, but none solve my issue. It's just player's musings, on a topic that Niantic could easily clarify. Let me give an example: K-12 is banned. Why is K-12 Banned? The common logic the community uses we don't want adults hanging around a bunch of kids.... Okay... But why are Playstructures in…
  • I'm saying your logic is awesome, agree with it totally.... BUT... It doesn't apply to Casinos, Bars, and Nightclubs and sell products/services to adults. Why not? Without any frame of reference to figure out why a Vape shop should be banned but a Casino shouldnt.. I won't guess why Vape shop but not a Casino. Mind you,…
  • You're 100% Correct Liquor Stores are specifically on the ineligible list, and since the list of adult business is supposed to be examples, I also totally see the logic how you draw a comparison to Vape Shop. BUT, my problem is logic exists connecting Liquor stores to Bars/Clubs too. And those aren't ineligible. Further…
  • Not an ingress player so can't see. BUT in 2016/17 the criteria were very different it was more a question of being unique/eye catching rather than the better standard explore.. If it had something eye catching like a Giant Bottle above it, it would have been acceptible in 2016. Back then a lot of more unique business…
  • I'm unsure why the Mural inside would be ineligible just because you have to be "18 to get in to touch it" We have had numerous clarifications that a waypoint doesn't have to be accessible to everyone, as long as it's accessible to some. It's why wayspots are acceptable in paid amusement parks and gated communities and…
  • Like most things wayfarer related don't automatically report/appeal things without understanding specifics. Specifics are EVERYTHING in wayfarer and usually the hardest thing for new reviewers to notice the small distinctions. Fire Departments themselves are bound to be ineligible BUT they might have eligible…
  • FYI: I appealed this and it was accepted. Not that Niantic appeals are surefire/examples, but I figured since I took the advice and appealed I'd let people know it came back accepted. Perm tables/grills are places to gather even without a pavilion. eastwood picnic area Clinton Township MI ACCEPTED 2022-04-03
  • I'm not quite as cynical as you @X0bai-PGO about reviewers. After I got that clarification, a dance studio that I had rejected twice, got accepted the various next time with the linkage to the clarification. In no way did I try on that 3rd accepted nomination to make the place seem special. So I'm hoping that while there…
  • If a business closes, can appeal to have it removed. Within 2 miles of this location I can think of 5 POIs that have been removed. All were there in 2016. all lasted years. 1 Closed in 2018, 2 in 2020, 2 in 2021. It happens. But shouldn't stop people from approving something in present. Technically everything is temporary…
  • They aren't special, nor do they need to be. Exercise is a Core Criteria. Which is why Niantic wrote in the thread these types of places are eligible. You don't have to prove a Gym is special, anymore than you need to prove a baseball field is special. The idea of proving something is special, is more for you are trying to…
  • to each thier own. The pattern of colors as well as the woodwork they are placed in makes a very non-generic combo for me. I havent seen any other mailbox in any apartment/condo/residential neighborhood where I have ever said "wow that looks pretty" @MysticCapybara-PGO your welcome. Always nice to have some closure on…
  • So I got it denied on an appeal. Thanks for the appeal, Explorer! The object in question does not meet the Wayfarer criteria as this is a generic mailbox. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria before submitting your next Wayspot contribution: https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/21-wayfarer/ Rejection Criteria Other…
  • We have a forum called "Guideline Clarifications" just call it Clarifications and move good threads there when they come up . Then post a FAQ with questions and links to those threads People could request and upvote good threads for moving player-generated FAQ attempts to that thread. If Niantic reads a good thread, they…
  • Yes but appeal status is a 3 step process. Step 1 is you appealing decision and it gets little appeal flag on your nomination Step 2: Is Niantic voting phase with the little niantic voting symbol. Step 3: is decision. So what I was asking is have your duplication appeals made into Step 2, or they still in Step1
  • @MargariteDVille-ING can you clarify what you mean by not resolved. Have they even gone into Voting with the symbol? or not looked at at all?
  • I know people with submissions not even in voting from when they first opened. Though the friend of mine who keeps complaining was appealing a Duplication rather than an outright Rejection so I wonder if Niantic just isn't dealing with that? I didn't make any appeals in Round 1. I have made 3 since they returned the Appeal…
  • Wow... It's amazing how important one little word is, "ETC" Really does open up a lot of room on a linear trail for accepting objects to be pinned. Not only footbridges, but memorial benches, rest areas, etc. And really, it makes sense since 2 of the big three criteria are "Exercise" and "Explore". If you travel another…
  • I would have skipped this. I don't vote on anything that I confirm the connection between the nominated item and the background photo. Looks like you wanted to get the icecream shop sign, but the ice cream shop is listed on google maps so not really necessary. Just state its on google maps and get a picture from the front…
  • Your comment was originally niantic should not share info on game board rules... and you focused on all the negatives. However, my reply was niantic not sharing info on game board rules CREATES some of the negatives. I have NO love for exploiting location exploits from Accurate to Inaccurate However, if the move is from…
  • You're rare. I don't think most people think about they might play a game where putting the play-structure pin on entrance will mean it will appear in a game they might play 5 years from now.... but putting it dead-center on structure will make it appear now to enjoy for the next 5 years. But hey, I'm still salty that a…
  • Totally disagree. POIs are often big. A baseball field for example is huge with many many places you can legitimately stick the POI. If a submitter knew the cell rules when they submitted, they could have picked an equally valid spot. This would have removed any rational to move a POI if the place was picked originally.
  • I think in next day or two I'll try one more time. By then my appeal button should be up and I'll let Niantic try. Follow up question: @X0bai-PGO @flatmatt-PGO Supplemental Information this.... do you think it would help or hurt "I understand that mailbox wouldn't normally be a POI but neither is a wall of a building.…
  • I do. I draw the line expressly where I said it. On a trail or park benches/plaques would be acceptible. Outside say a police station, city hall, random business they wouldnt be. Lots of things are judgement calls with lines. Restaurants are perfect example. They are subjective on whether they meet the Gather/Explore…
