I live in a city but the area I live in never had much (for a city). Since Covid hit, a few in our community have been very active in getting our area filled with new stops / gyms of stuff that should have been a waypoint but no one did it before (I guess Ingress isn’t big here). Anyway, since then, we have had lots of new…

Look on the bright side, easy agreements for rejections

I don’t think the OP is account sharing. I think they used daughters account to prove a point that there was a potential bug. I would ask are the locations for home and bonus the same for you and daughter?
-
I’d use in game support to ask as Niantic can access Wayfairer database directly. I guess you would have to have a legitimate reason though for them to do it (e.g. you made a spelling mistake on edit) not just you are scared to move it in case they delete your gym.

I am glad reading this that my area doesn’t cheat. We do get submissions of things which are in no way a waypoint (one that comes to mind is trying to pass a bus stop off as a community information point as it informs you when the bus is due) but the things are there. I maybe put this down to not understanding criteria not…

The submitters in my area are PoGo players in a local group (not many Ingress players around) so I know them all and know we all take pride in good submissions. With the exception of 1 gym in wrong place (dating back to ago Live of the game so I assume wrongly places in Ingress years ago) which I have reported using the…

Reject unless it’s unavoidable like a huge tourist attraction where you’ll never get a photo without people in it then I would say it’s a judgement call really on whether or not it could happen without people Things like the Eiffel tower itself, as long as they aren’t posing, is fine because it is popular and that big you…

With the new way to move waypoints over 10m being via a web form, can Niantic find a way to respond to us to say whether it is or isn’t going to be moved once a decision is made rather than leaving us wondering.

In order to reject / accept a new waypoint on Wayfairer, you need to pass a test. In order to submit via Ingress or Pokémon Go, you do not and you can tell who approves and who does not on the nomination as some that come through are poor, especially with comments such as ‘this area needs a stop’. I feel with a bit better…

I think the players of PoGo and Ingress (and maybe HPWU at some point) should at least have to do the Wayfairer tests before they submit because whereas something may be cool and perfectly acceptable as a POI to other companies, they need to understand what is acceptable to Niantic (such as the minimum distance…

Even if the Ingress player requested to move it, if it is in the right place now then this would be an invalid move request

Totally Agree Casey. I think the point is, for me at least, it’s not always obvious whether or not something is a hyper spot and unless you are local there is no way to know. External sources like Wikipedia, company websites etc may help if they exist but for places that are generally unknown outside of that village / town…

Upgrades get a much bigger radius for approves, it’s possible a lot of them are upgraded.
-
It depends I guess but it is up to the person to convince you that it is a local hyper spot. Not everything will have a Wikipedia page, guidelines state that “Popular spots where locals gather but are lesser-known outside the community” are acceptable but with weak descriptions and supporting notes, I would say 1* generic…

Hi Darren Thanks for that. It is as I thought really My point to Niantic remains though as the wording on the site is wrong

Honestly, you have no chance. Niantic never have overturned a community decision and likely never will. Irrespective of the quality of the submission, it would, if anything, open flood gates for Niantic to review every submission just because a person didn’t agree. If they’re willing to do that then they may as well get…

What do you expect Niantic to do exactly? They will have had nothing to do with the decision. I am with grendelwulf-ING here. Wayfairer is a community accept/reject system. Yes Niantic are in charge of the database but they have reiterated over and over there is no appeal process so tagging them into a post when all…
